Former Georgia Tech recruit John Drew happy with Duke decision

Northside-Columbus defensive tackle John Drew said he remains at peace about switching from Georgia Tech to Duke.
The senior lineman announced he would sign with the Jackets last February, before experiencing a change of heart four months later when he shifted his commitment to Duke.
“I still feel comfortable about the decision I made,” Drew said. “I feel that I made the best decision for me. It was tough, but I felt at that point in time I wasn’t feeling Georgia Tech or the city of Atlanta. So I felt that I needed to de-commit.”
Chris Drew, who is a freshman tight end for North Carolina Central, figured into his brother’s decision to commit to Duke.
“My brother will only be about five minutes away from me [in Durham],” John Drew said.

You are right to go to where your heart tells you. Just be sure that you beat UNC every year you are at Duke. Good luck, except when you play the Jackets.

Yeah…shoulda stayed with Yech and played in front of a half empty stadium! Or if you are an optimist, it was “half-full”! With most tickets sold in conjunction with a free hot-dog and half bowl “o” Fruit Loops!!

Young Man: It is wonderful that you will get a great education at Duke University.
If you do decide you are interested in GT again, we would love to have you, but the most important thing is to go where you can flourish on and off the field.
Go Jackets!!

Well hey, if he wants to go to a program like Duke… best case scenario he will get a good education. If a kid wants to play for a team that has not won since forever he can do so. It’s his life and his decision. Another benefit to playing football for Duke is that u can be around the legendary Coach K during basketball season. Go Ramblin Wreck!!

John will get a great education either way. Having his brother close will be a huge benefit. Good Luck at Duke. They are going to be a very competitive team by the time you graduate.

Why are you guys upset he chose Duke? The kid has it made either way. He’ll get a great education at Duke. Duke’s program can only go up and I hope for his sake it does take off. Good luck to you and good for you for making a choice which benefits you.
