DEL.ICIO.USDunwoody’s King says knee is healing

The knee injury that has kept Dunwoody linebacker Jerry King on the sideline this season won’t keep him out much longer, and he says it also hasn’t kept college recruiters from calling on him.
The 6-foot, 225-pound senior expects to be back in a couple of weeks for fourth-ranked (in AAA) Dunwoody. The Wildcats are idle this week.
King tore the ACL in his right knee during team workouts in May and had surgery to repair it in July. He thought he’d be ready to start the season, but he has stayed out for more rehab at the urging of team doctor Eric Steenlage. King says he doesn’t feel any pain in the knee, and hasn’t for a while, but decided to take the safer route for his return to the field.
He said that recruiters have assured him that they’re still interested, despite the injury.
He has not received any offers, but Wofford and Middle Tennessee State contact him nearly every week. He said Delaware, Tulane, Ball State, Central Florida and Tennessee State also have more than passing interest.
“They’ve been very supportive of me,” King said of recruiters.

This young man is working hard to make it back for the 2008 Region 5AAA payoff game and possibly for Senior Night October 31. Dunwoody will then become the best offensive and defensive team in Dekalb county. Getting Jerry King back will only better the Wildcats opportunities as the the team pursues it’s goal to “Play 15” . Jerry King get healthy first because the Wildcats await your return to “Finish The Drill”.
