Alabama recruit Kellen Williams ‘not going to brag’
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Kellen Williams decided to go to Athens after all.
The Brookwood offensive tackle and Alabama recruit, who rejected the Bulldogs’ offer to attend Saturday’s game, made the trip to Athens with his parents, both Georgia graduates. They met up with some of friends and watched the Florida-Mississippi game, but were back home in time to watch the anticipated showdown.
Williams said there was no trash talking to his parents because even though they’re Georgia alums, “they’re Alabama fans now.” Williams said he was shocked by the way the Tide jumped out to a 31-0 lead before winning 41-30.
“We weren’t expecting such a blowout,” he said. “We were expecting quite a close game and Alabama just came out and pounded it down their throat and made them like it.”
Williams said he didn’t pay much attention to reaction from last week’s online article, some of it critical of his decision to attend Alabama.
“I learned with the whole recruiting process you’re not going to make everybody happy,” he said. “People say negative things. I heard from somebody that it was said I couldn’t academically qualify for Georgia, but I got scholarship from Vanderbilt.
People always degrade you for no reason. I’ve just developed tough skin and keep working hard and good things happen.”
Alabama’s convincing win should quiet some of the Georgia fans, Williams said. “I’m just glad that Alabama went out and took care of business and not to be mean, but shut some of the Georgia fans up because they were just being ridiculous.”
“Obviously the better team won on Saturday. I’m not going to brag, but like [Brookwood coach Mark Crews] says, I’m just glad the good guys came out on top.”

Seagles,
Do those ex-players tell you about Saban “the meat grinder” before, or after they show off their championship rings?

Seagles, Your ignorance and jealousy are showing big-time. This is SEC football, son! Every game is a battle. Every team is strong. Fans like you give your own team a bad name. Don’t be a sore loser.

WE KILL MORE DAWGS THAN MICHAEL VICK.
Unforunately you have to live with the decisions you make and you chose to be Georgia fans. Just take the lose like a man. Hopefully yall will meet us in Atlanta for the SEC Championship.

I don’t think that the UGA coaches cried themselves to sleep about Mr. Williams not coming to the game. Great win by Bama by the way. They looked good for sure.

take away the bogus roughing the passer penalty that allowed Bammer to get the ball back when UGA recovered the fumble and the ball popping out of AJ’s hands that utlimately gave Bammer 14 points and Dawgs win 30-27…now put that in your pipe and smoke it

To alabamadawg: Don’t forget to include Georgia’s uncalled block in the back on your punt return. I mean if you’re going to whine at least whine for both teams!

OK, UGA fans, PLEASE do not start griping about the calls. Regardless of a couple of questionable calls that didn’t go our way, we got whipped. For anyone to say otherwise is just stupid. Congrats to the Tide. Great team, great coaches, great tradition - I look forward to some future battles in the SECCG.

Alabamadawg, Take awat the punt return for a TD because of the CLIPPING that everyone saw on the replay and you still get your butt handed to you. Remember “ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all be happy on christmas”. If TECH were not call for a head-to-head against VT then we would have won too. Now, we both have a defeat and how are your players going to react? We came out and killed MISS STATE and now its your turn to get mentally ready and continue your shot at the SEC EAST.

From the way it’s going now, I see The Tide rolling all the way to the SEC championship game. They are completely well coached and dominant os far. From the way it’s shaking up…. it will most likely be Alabama vs Big12 winner for the NC.

Maybe these Dawg fans and talk radio goobers will now realize that the game is won and lost in the trenches. Where were all these superior “skilled players” that were supposed to beat Bama on Saturday? Oh yeah, they were eating sod and limping to the locker room.
Turned out Knowshon was a No-Show! Talented kid, but his show-boating was getting old. But that’s easy to do when you’re beating a patsy team.
ROLL TIDE!!!

I think all would agree that Bama played an exceptional game, but I find it a tad early to proclaim yourselves the “second coming”…the season is still very young, and neither Bama or UGA have won anything at this point - other than a few games. So enjoy your moment, its richly deserved, but dont get too far ahead of yourselves yet because there is still a ton of heavy weight football to be played in the SEC.

I love the Dawgs, and I never want them to lose. That said, they deserved to lose Saturday. You still have to actually play 60 minutes, and just because you’re wearing black jerseys doesn’t mean the other team will let you win. Please show some discipline and forget everything else!!! Coulda, woulda, shoulda, means nothing. It’s the SEC. Learn from the loss. Congrats to Bama…I hope for a rematch.

Looks to me like Georgia could have used all the help they could get on the OL sat. oh and as for you alabamadawg maybe if the crimson tide didn’t even bother to show up you would have won. A loss is a loss take it and learn from it.
I love you Kellen :) ROLL TIDE ROLL

it’s always the morons that DIDN’T attend college that sit on message boards and berate people. I’ll like to think that real UGA or BAMA students are into their books or well into a good career. Georgia is a great team. Alabama is a great team. Period. No recruit can go wrong choosing a SEC school to play football. It’s a free education. Jealous? I am a little bit. (smile)
