How It Went: Monster season continues for Tennessee recruit Williams

Milton’s Toney Williams is listed as the nation’s 61st-best running back in the class of 2009 by Rivals.com. And he’s rated No. 57 at his position by Scout.com.
But based on the lofty numbers the 6-foot-1, 227-pound Williams has posted through five games, both recruiting sites may need to reevaluate his position ranking.
“I do feel like I’m underrated,” said Williams, a member of the AJC’s The Georgia Top 150 who ran for 226 yards and two touchdowns in Milton’s 41-20 victory over Centennial Friday night.
“But I don’t pay too much attention to it. I just go out there and play.”
Midway through the regular season, Williams has rushed for 1,142 yards and 17 touchdowns.
He says the commitment he gave to Tennessee in May remains rock solid. But are the Southern Cal and Georgia’s of the college football world making a push for Williams?
“Oh no, no, no ” he said.
He considered traveling to Auburn today to watch the Volunteers play the Tigers in a key SEC contest.
“But I’ll just watch it on TV with some of my friends,” he said.
