Basketball: Derrick Favors headed to Georgia Tech for official visit
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

South Atlanta’s Derrick Favors, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 basketball prospect by Scout, is handling the pressures of recruiting well, according to his coach.
The 6-foot-9 Favors is making an official visit to Georgia Tech this weekend. He took his first recruiting trip to Georgia a couple of weeks ago, and has yet to decide on any other visits. He is also considering Kentucky, Memphis, Connecticut, N.C. State and Florida State.
“Like the champion he is, Derrick is doing just fine with the [recruiting process],” South Atlanta’s Michael Reddick said. “He’s doing research about each school, asking a lot of questions and figuring everything out. He’s in control of the situation.”

I told everyone who would listen during last years dissapointing season that 09 would be a GREAT recruiting year for Hewitt
In 09 well have a junior starting pt guard in Miller, a Sophmore All American guard in Shumpert, and a All American forward Junior in Lawal. Add the recruiting class that we have now, as well as the nations #1 recruit in Favors… and well have possibly the best team since Lethal Weapon 3! (Kenny Anderson, Brian Oliver, Dennis Scott)
GO GT!!!

I am a huge fan of both UGA and Ga Tech. I am just really praying that Favors commits to either school. I am so so so so tired of seeing the top talent from our state leave to play elsewhere. If we (UGA & Tech) could just keep the top players from Ga, in state we’d have elite recruiting classes on a consistent basis. Coach Richt and his staff does a good job of keeping most of the top talent from Ga in the state and that’s one of the main reasons why they are consistently no worse than top 10 nationally in recruiting. There’s plenty of talent here in Georgia, we just have to keep our boys here at home in the GREAT STATE OF GEORGIA!!!!

Derrick, you are amazing
Come share your talents with other people who have talents at Georgia Tech
We will make a run at the title (it could only help if you bring Kenny) and you will be the f’n man here. Atlanta is where its at. Why leave? Then you’ll make millions of dollars because Hewitt gets people where you wanna be…the NBA and we will dominate next year. And you’ll have 3 thats right 3 great PGs who will make it happen. We get people to the NBA: Chris Bosh, Jarrett Jack, Javaris Crittenton, Thaddeus Young, Mario West, Will Bynum, Luke Schenscher, and not to mention a lot of other guys from Tech like Stephon Marbury, Travis Best, Kenny Anderson…I could keep going.

We all know that he would look good in blue/white. If not … got to stay in the SEC. Then make it the Bulldogs.
