Is Jefferson’s Crenshaw about to de-commit from Georgia Tech?

South Carolina already lured away one of Georgia Tech’s top commitments this year; are the Gamecocks about to swipe another one?

Jefferson County defensive end Chris Crenshaw told the AJC on Sunday night that he is sticking by his commitment to Tech. He made an unofficial visit to watch Tech defeat Mississippi State on Saturday.

“Tech gave me an offer and [South Carolina] didn’t,” Crenshaw said. “So I’m a Jacket and not a Gamecock.”

Crenshaw created a firestorm of recruiting rumors this past week after he traveled to South Carolina to watch the Georgia game. Crenshaw later told GoGamecocks.com, “I woulld really, really love to get an offer from South Carolina. They are my number one …”

“Their defense was amazing. I would love to be a part of that defense. Their linebackers are aggressive. They attack.”

Crenshaw also told the website that South Carolina assistant John Hunt requested three game tapes for scholarship evaluation, and that he wants to set an official visit with the Gamecocks.

On Sunday, Crenshaw downplayed last week’s comments about South Carolina, saying, “I love Tech and I’m very happy to be committed to Tech.”

Earlier this summer, Appalachee linebacker Chaun Gresham switched his commitment from Tech to South Carolina. Gresham is the nephew of the most famous player in South Carolina history, 1980 Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers, but said that it had no impact on his decision.

Great news Chris, welcome aboard. Please get ready to jump on the old gold train that will dominate the mutts from here on out. Best of luck for a great season.

If you’re smart you’ll stay committed to Tech. South Carolina is going nowhere - fast.

Coach Johnson is doing something special at Georgia Tech.

Hmmm…. be a bottom feeder in one confrence…..OR be on a power team in another? Hard choice! GT is the place to be…for HOOPS and Football!

Cause you always “dominate the mutts”.

“power team”???

Funny stuff!

7 in a row and counting!!!

JB, you may have to stop ‘counting’ this year

JB… What does UGA’s streak have to do with GT in the ACC? You Georgia fans think everything revolves around Athens, huh? Wait, I doubt you have ever even been to Athens. Bandwagoner, right? Thought so…

JB - please go get a job - or do something to keep yourself occupied so you don’t have to spend your days harassing Tech fans on our articles to make yourself feel better.

Seriously. That’s sad.

Reading the comments, Crenshaw seems to be playing on both sides of the fence.

I say go to South Carolina, Tech’s new staff & transforming program doesn’t have room for non-committed players. The state of the SC team & program appears to be, at best , standing pat if not going backwards while Tech’s is obiviously moving forward with a bright future.

So, go ahead and decommitt, and enroll at SC; like the other guy (George Rogers’ nephew) did. You both will soon be regretting that decision. Heck, with Giff Smith doing the outstanding job he’s been doing bringing in talent, you might not be playing much at Tech anyway.

The more we play like we did last Saturday, the more blue chip recruits CPJ will attract. The fact that he’s already won more games than many thought he would this season is a testiment to his coaching ability - especially when you consider the lack of depth he inherited.

Looking too far ahead can be dangerous but this might become a special season for the Jackets. Keep up the good work!!!

You Tech geeks need to come back to reality. There will be ample time to show how much you flying maggots have improved when you get your annual A$$ whooping at the end of the year. I’ll give you your due, instead of us laying 50 on you it will only be 45 this year cause Richt dosen’t want to run up the score. Seriously you guys really need to stop talking crap until you can back it up, and believe me this is not the year. (7 and counting) GO DAWGS!!!

George Rogersw was a great player, but did he win anything besides the Heisman?

Things are looking up and I’m loving it! I get a kick out of the UGA fans who come on here and talk trash, it’s so easy to get them all riled up.

Even better is all the talk each week about how tough the SEC is, but when we destroy Miss St all the SEC folks say ‘Oh, it was just Miss St. They are at the bottom of the SEC while Tech is at the top of the ACC. It wasn’t a fair comparison.’ Give me a break. I’ll give you credit- the SEC is loaded up top, pretty impressive, but enough with the talk of ‘top to bottom’- Vandy, Miss., Miss State, Kentucky, Arkansas, nor South Carolina strike fear to anyone!

It’s the GA fans fear …. fear of what’s coming on 11/29. They keep hanging their hats on 7 wins in a row. Here’s something to consider …. Chan Gailey (and Reggie Ball) are no longer a part of the GA Tech program.

Paul Johnson will have this team ready to play, and he knows how to wins these ‘rivalry games.’

GA fans knew coming in that Miss St. has a very good D, and they even tossed out in blogs last week that ‘this is an SEC D’ the Jackets will face, let’s see how well that rinky-dink, high school offense performs against “big boy football.”

I’d say 438 yards rushing is darn-tuten good!

Just a few of last week’s comments …

By Fred S. September 18, 2008 8:02 AM | Link to this

Georgia Tech couldn’t win 4 games a year playing an SEC schedule.

By FUMBLE! September 18, 2008 8:06 AM | Link to this

Oh and by the way GTYJ. Your offense didn’t work against VT’s run stopping defense. You had 4:37 to win the game Saturday and that offense of yours couldn’t get it done. Can’t play from behind with it. Couldn’t even get into field goal range. Of course that is another issue with Tech isn’t it. Can run a little. Can’t pass a lick, can’t kick. You guys are screwed.

MSU 28, GT 12. State finally gets some offense going and scores at least one defensive TD off yet another GT fumble.

Sec has the best conference. The bulldogs will show that Sat. at 12.OO. Oh by the way jacket fans get you some ear plugs because the cow bells are in full affect.

for all the ga fans that keep throwing up 7 and counting , if you win this year it will only tie the most wins in a row which is held by Tech at 8 ..
