Warner Robins DT Whitaker to visit Athens on Saturday

Warner Robins junior Jeffrey Whitaker will make his first recruiting visit of the season on Saturday when he travels to Athens to watch Georgia play host to Central Michigan.

“I want to say it’s an official visit, but I’m going to the game on my own,” said Whitaker, who has scholarship offers from Georgia and Clemson. “I plan on being up there around 11 a.m.”

The 6-foot-3.5, 300-pound defensive tackle, who plans to participate in Saturday’s Dawg Walk and be on the field during the pregame warm-ups, will attend at least two other Georgia games this year. He’s also penciled in one trip to Clemson this fall.

Whitaker says it’s way too soon for him to consider a commitment.

“I don’t even have a category [like a top-five], but I’m feeling good about Georgia and Clemson,” said Whitaker, who attended two Georgia games last fall.

“I’ve got two more years. I’ll weigh my options and, trust me, I’ll make the right pick.”

Alabama may be on the verge of offering Whitaker.

“I’m getting a lot of stuff from them,” he said.

Would love to see a home-state talent end up at one of the best academic state schools in the nation. No matter where you go, God be with you. Go Dawgs.

Why do you people always wish good luck to a kid who doesn’t pick Georgia…..so he’ll come back some day and beat us?!

Pago…

1 I’d love for all great athletes to go to UGA!!

Fact is there are only 75 schollies available…

If a young man decides NOT to attend UGA, that’s their decision..

2 As hard as it may seem to many fan(atics) (me included)… It’s a game!!!! Outside the 3 hours the game takes place, I wish all the players (kids) well…

ever notice after a hard fought game that many players from BOTH teams meet at the center of the field & pray together??? After the “game” the players respect each other & the sacrifices that must endure to reach that point. That’s a class thing to do..

Whittaker, you know your a DAWG. All Dawg. Once you get a sense of how coach Rodney Garner runs that D-line; it will be hard to pass up. Its your in state school. You’ll be able to represent the great state of Georgia in front of your family and friends.

After listening to all the college football announcers hate on the ACC this last weekend, I must admit that I am surprised to hear blue chip athletes are considering an ACC school. Especially after Clemson was exposed by Bama, and especially after the SEC just announced a phenomenal TV package that virtually guarantees more exposure to SEC athletes. I have to think that all the SEC coaches are publicizing the attendance figures of SEC versus ACC games, and noting that the SEC championship game is always a sellout while the ACC championship game is half empty. Surely the recruits look at the rankings and see Wake (at 20th) being the highest ranked team. Give the Clemson recruiters credit, to have so much going against your team and your conference, you must be an excellent salesman to have top recruits interested in your program. You know the Clemson staff is just praying that the Fire Bowden people can keep it quiet while they are trying to recruit.

6’3-1/2 300lbs as a junior….geez! Forget about letting him participate in the Dawg walk….suit him up now and get him in the game…..our line depth is thin……lol.

Seriously, I agree with BullDawg Rick, we only have a certain number of Ships to offer and can’t have every top prospect. If he commits then great, if not then Good Luck wherever you end up. The DAWGS are getting better each year, no matter who commits.
