Tucker DT out with ankle injury

It was a fluke collision on the second play of Tucker’s 26-12 victory against Brunswick last week that has star defensive end Deion Robinson on crutches this week, and perhaps for many weeks to come.

Robinson, a 6-foot-3, 258-pound senior, suffered a dislocated left ankle after a teammate was blocked into his lower leg. “All I know is I was about to make the play and it popped out of place.”

Now wearing a splint and using cructhes, Robinson is looking at some extended time out. He says doctors at the hospital told him “8 to 10 weeks,” but he is to see his doctor on Thursday, hopefully with a better prognosis.

Robinson has been offered by Memphis, West Virginia, N.C. State, Louisville, East Carolina, Michigan State, Maryland, Iowa State, Georgia Southern and South Alabama, and says he’s not concerned that the injury will scare schools away.

Memphis called Monday to check up on his condition and assured him “they’re behind me.”

Robinson’s prediction is to return to the playing field “by the seventh or eighth game.”
