Georgia State’s pitch to Henry County’s Drew Little: Be the first to sign

Georgia State plans to make Henry County quarterback Drew Little his first offer, Henry coach Mike Rozier said.

Little, selected by the AJC to The Georgia 150 list, led the Warhawks to a 10-2 record last season. He visited Georgia State coach Bill Curry and offensive coordinator John Bond, and their pitch, Little said, was to be the program’s first scholarship player.

Little, who also is considering Kentucky and South Carolina, was advised by Rozier to wait and see what other offers come.

“I could definitely see him going there,” Rozier said. “It’s an up-and-coming program, and he’d get to play in the Georgia Dome.”

I just giggle when I think about STATE having a football program, and that they will be playing in the DOME. And, that Bill Curry is the Head Coach! I mean, this has to just fly all over TECH fans everywhere. Who knows, maybe, MAYBE twenty or thirty years from now STATE may be an annoyance to UGA as far as recruiting — MAYBE. But STATE is a factor NOW for TECH — Curry, the DOME.

Tech is now truly an insignificant Atlanta football program. And you know that when Kennesaw State gets their program going TECH is DEAD.

Yeah, because who wouldn’t want to play in front of 5,000 people inside the Georgia Done.

Well…Georgia Tech is FBS playing in the ACC. Georgia State will be FCS and will play in the CAA. Kennesaw State has yet to put a football program together. Georgia Southern is thinking about going FBS so they might affect Tech’s recruiting but the plain fact is that all three have a long uphill climb to get to Tech’s level and based on the game today, they have to somehow manage to become BCS. UGA damages Tech’s program more than Georgia Southern, Georgia State, and Kennesaw State ever will.

I am saddened to see that poor old Skeeter is still suffering from his inferiority complex. He is still trying to make himself feel better by trash talking Tech. Skeeter, maybe you will discover that spending your time trying to tear down others will not help you. Only by doing something to improve your self esteem will you overcome your feelings of gross insufficiency. Then you can be productive with your time instead of wasting it. I hope everyone will show patience with this poor unfortunate individual, and I hope that he will someday overcome his obviously severe feeling of insignificance. No one deserves to waste their life like Skeeter is doing. Good luck Skeeter!

That’s a very tempting offer for a kid from McDonough. I went to HC and they have grown leaps and bounds in the football dept. in 8 years. Glad to see HC producing some quality football players. And, I think eventually GA State will hurt GA Tech recruiting. It’ll be just plain easier to get into State.

Henry County is playing AA football, who the heck cares?

Union Grove on the other hand has several former players playing Div. 1 football. Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Tulane, etc.

I feel sorry for Tech. I mean if you are a QB who can throw, why would you want to go to Tech who is running a Tecmo bowl style offense, in a small stadium, in front of a student body full of TI-81 calculators and slide rulers.

GO STATE!

Just to give you guys a heads up, CaaInsider.com has an excellent football section that covers all of the CAA’s schools recruiting. They have great articles, interviews and a section that lists all of the recruits that are offered by each school.

All this bickering about Tech and Kennesaw and Southern and we haven’t even played a single game yet. Football at State has obviously got some people scared already, and I can’t get enough of it.

GO STATE

Are you people serious? Why all the State pride when you guys haven’t played a game yet?? There will be no recruiting battle, you’ll get I-AA style players and Tech will get I-A players, it’s that simple. State will take years and years to get better, and in the meantime Tech’s triple option will develop with recruits that are tailored for that kind of gameplay.

State fans trash talking? Wait til the end of that 0-11 season, when all the “fans” stop going to the games and you can hear the echoes of the players’ voices in that dome. Then we’ll see.

This is pure comedy. While Jax State and UGA are on the horizon, folks from Tech and Southern are too busy ripping State fans to notice. Don’t you and your teams have bigger fish to fry right about now? GSU is still two years away from kickoff. Roll that thought in your heads, Tech and Southern fans; GSU is still TWO YEARS AWAY FROM KICKOFF!!!

Why in the blazes are you guys sooooo concerned about a program that hasn’t played a single down yet? Everytime I read an AJC article concerning GSU’s football program, there’s a blog a mile long from mostly Tech and Southern fans about why it won’t work.

I don’t recall folks screaming about Southern’s program never having the ability to get off the ground when Erk started things down there years ago.

But I guess I can see where you’re coming from. Starting up a football program at the FCS level when you have a huge enrollment and alumni base, in a large city ingrained in other college programs, and having to play in an NFL-sized stadium doesn’t work. Just look at the lack of success down at South Florida and its obvious to see….oh wait….

@theguru. You must be living in a deluded world if you think State can’t be ever a threat to you. I’ll be the first to admit we will take our lumps early on but we have some good things going for us. And why all the pride? Really? Statement makes sense coming from a school that can’t sell out a single home game without the other team’s fans (who make all the noise as well) We’re starting a football program, why wouldn’t we have pride?!? And where is the trash talk from the State fans you mention? The one State fan who responded before you was laughing at all the comments taking shots at us and like you said, we havent played a game yet. Looks like you are worried! Enjoy another year in the shadows of Athens.
