Glades Central (Fla.) receiver Rantavious Wooten confirmed to the AJC this evening that he intends to announce his commitment to Georgia or LSU on Friday.
Wooten, who says he made up his mind on Monday, intends on keeping the winning program in suspense until late Thursday.
“I’m not going to have a press conference, but I’m just going to get the word out to everyone on Friday,” said Wooten, considered the 28th-best receiver in the nation by Scout.com.
“I’ll call [Georgia or LSU] Thursday night and let them know about my decision.”
Wooten on LSU: “I like the football team in general and the way they use some of their players. I like the atmosphere, the coaches and the stadium. I just like everything about it.”
Wooten on UGA: “I like Georgia pretty much the same way I like LSU.”

He didn’t qualify for GT or GT realized that p.o.s they call a team didn’t have a shot in he11 of getting him after UGA showed interest. I forgot, will it be 7 or 8 in a row after this year? I stopped watching after the 4th straight victories over the bugs. We’ve got to do something about this weak non-conference schedule.

GT should sign him and just let him play anyway even if he doesnt qualify like they did throughout the late nineties and 02’. GT excusefest for 2008. Its ok yellow jackets, you finally have a good coach and you will be more competitive in the near future..keep your heads up.

When will you Tech spankers get off your academic high-horse?? If the kid qualifies by NCAA standards, who cares if he could get into Tech, UGA or anywhere else if he wasn’t an athlete?? The fact is, they are athletes and they are afforded special consideration at any school. And as a commentary, they SHOULD be afforded special consideration because as Bear Bryant once said, “You don’t get 80,000 people packing a stadium to watch a math test!”
Go back in your hole nerds!!

Typical comment from a Tech fan—their all time best QB, Joe Hamilton, was just busted for drugs. Nice going there Goldtimer. Let us know when Joe gets out of jail.
