Georgia Tech looking hard at Duke commit
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Sandy Creek defensive end Brandon Putnam, who has committed to Duke, said he is hearing from Georgia Tech.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Putnam is a member of the AJC’s The Georgia Top 150
“I’m still being recruited by them,” Putnam said. “I don’t know what is taking so long for an offer. I know I’m on their [recruiting] board. They want to see some senior film.”
Tech has strong ties with Sandy Creek, alma mater of former Yellow Jackets All-America wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
“Tech has a great program, Calvin has nothing but great things to say about it,” Putnam said.

Marist’s Chris Williamson hopes for Alabama offer
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Marist punter Chris Williamson said he is under consideration for a scholarship offer from Alabama after being named “Best Punter” at the Crimson Tide’s camp earlier this summer.
“I kicked it well, and Alabama said they liked what they saw,” Williamson said. “They said they weren’t sure whether or not they were going to offer a punter this year. They hadn’t made up their minds.
“[Alabama] told me to send them film from my first few games and then they would take it from there. That’s pretty exciting, to be considered.”
Wake Forest is also showing interest in Williamson, who has an offer from South Alabama. He also attended camps at Georgia and Georgia Tech, and said neither school showed much interest in signing a punter for the 2009 class.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Williamson averaged 38.5 yards per punt last year. Said Marist coach Alan Chadwick, “We’re hoping to get him up to 40 or so this year, he’s really improved.”
