Georgia Tech looking hard at Duke commit
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Sandy Creek defensive end Brandon Putnam, who has committed to Duke, said he is hearing from Georgia Tech.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Putnam is a member of the AJC’s The Georgia Top 150
“I’m still being recruited by them,” Putnam said. “I don’t know what is taking so long for an offer. I know I’m on their [recruiting] board. They want to see some senior film.”
Tech has strong ties with Sandy Creek, alma mater of former Yellow Jackets All-America wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
“Tech has a great program, Calvin has nothing but great things to say about it,” Putnam said.

Apparently Brandon wants a much better education at Tech, than the dumbed-down one he would receive at UGAy.

Hey DawgSpanky!, I hope you are not an example of a Tech education because the article clearly says he’s a Duke commit. Please tell us you believe a Tech education trumps a Duke education. With a name like DawgSpanky!, I think we all know that no formal education is the more likely scenario for you.
Way to go Tech, you stole Jaybo Shaw from Middle Tennessee State last year and this year you’re working hard to steal Brandon Putnam from Duke. At this rate, you’ll be beating UGA in no time! Right.

And yet Clay you can lose to teams like Vandy and KY with your ” 4-5” star caliber athlete. Go figure?

Truth, in the SEC any given team can win on any given Saturday (we don’t play on Thursday like Tech does). Even BCS Champion LSU lost to Kentucky and Arkansas last year. The last I checked, UGA beat Vandy and Kentucky last year, finished the season with wins over Tech (yet again) and Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl (which is a BCS bowl, not like Tech would know anything about BCS bowls) and ranked #2 in the nation. This year, we are No.1. Please, explain Georgia Tech supremacy to me again, I must have missed something.

I just wanted to point out that this student athlete is not even looking at UGA since he wants and education not a criminal record. Standings aside, you can really see where the puppies of Athens are heading and it’s not surprising that he has a bunch of criminals having been taught by Bobby Bowden how to recruit from the juvenile detention center rather then from the Schools.

Clay, actually you have missed a lot brother. I’m just curious but why do you assume I’m a tech fan? Listen to the animosity you have: UGA is better at this, Tech doesn’t have that, blah blah blah blah. WHO CARES!!!!!? I think I would have a lot more hatred for Gators than Tech, they own you unlike the Jackets as of late. BTW, you beat Mighty Hawaii, very good. You must be proud and beating all of the overrated teams in the Sorry Excuse for a Conference league. If your team keeps getting into trouble your not going to have a team to field. AIN’T IT GREAT TO BE A GEORGIA BULLDOG? ROFL

Truth, if you think the Florida Gators own UGA, you need to find a better refernce book. Why do Florida people believe football wasn’t invented until 1990? Vince Dooley beat Florida 17 times. UGA leads the overall series by 10 wins. If you only want to look at recent history, fine. In the last 4 years, the series is tied 2-2. Last year, Florida had a fine 4 loss season capped by a wonderful loss to Michigan—you remember Michigan, don’t you? They lost to Appalachian State. Hawaii is only viewed as over rated in hind sight—hind sight created by the UGA beat down they recieved in the Sugar Bowl. Let’s not forget that Florida opens the season with Hawaii this year. You might not want to speak up too soon about being over rated…
