Alexander’s Mitchell backs off UGA comments, says he’s “100-percent” with Kentucky

Alexander offensive lineman Kevin Mitchell plays in a uniform that looks like Georgia’s. His mother was born in Athens. And his grandfather still lives there.

And even though he grew up rooting for Georgia, Mitchell wants to make it clear that his blood now runs Kentucky blue. He wants to clarify things a few days after publicly stating he was still interested in the Bulldogs, if they called.

Mitchell, a member of the AJC’s The Georgia Top 150, verbally committed to the Wildcats earlier this summer after receiving offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana and Oregon. Last week he commented that he might listen if an offer came from Georgia. Evidently, Mitchell’s affectionate words for the Bulldogs caused quite a stir.

Now Mitchell has reserved direction, backing away from those comments and saying he is “100 percent committed to Kentucky.”

In fact, he said he will not attend the Wildcats’ season-opener next weekend because it is at Louisville.

“[Louisville] offered me too, so if I went there for the game, it might cause all kinds of confusion,” Mitchell said. “I’m only planning on going to games that are in Lexington, and right now I don’t plan on taking any official visits anywhere else. Kentucky is the best fit for me.”

As a Georgia fan, I wish Kevin the best. It’s tough to come to such a major decision as a young man. Best of luck at UK, except when you play my Dawgs.

Bye Bye. Kentucky thrives off selecting players holding a grudge against their home state team. Thats fine.

Rivers jacket—Obama, please. His own kids during the family interview stated talk talk talk - blah blah blah. I agree with his family.

Nah….”3” Rivers! We won’t offer the “obligatory” you were not offered, because I believe we all already know the obvious! And only a “nerd” would bring up Obama on a recruiting thread! We Dawg Fans will just settle for the “obligatory” arse whoopin comin your way EVERY year! LOL! Now get back to buildin my Pappy’s Office! And don’t forget to fix the sinking Village…….

Thomas Coleman,

Ever thought that your expert beat writing does more harm than good for the young fellow? My advice would be to forget everything Terence Moore taught you. If Georgia wants to offer him don’t you think they will do so without your “help”? Geez, no wonder Searles doesn’t talk to the media.

3 Rivers jacket - Please return to third grade and learn to spell ” follow ” and ” current ” instead of picking fights with Dawg fans.

Why is it that Tech fans think they are so smart, yet can’t even spell simple words like “follow”. Use your spell check, dork.

Why didn’t Tech offer this kid? He must be best at pass protection.

3 rivers jacket….we follow current events.lord help us if he gets elected and if he does it’s only because of his skin color not his credability or his views…Only a techie would think he’s worthy of being the the president…but then again you are a techie…All book smart but nothing else… forming views based on the media beccause it wasn’t in a book or step 1,2,3,4, or 5 which throws you all off balance. .

To Rivers jacket (or whatever,) to quote Tech alum (and ardent UGA fan) Jeff Foxworthy, “You are not smarter than a 5th grader.”

As for Kevin— did UGA offer him a scholarship?

Dont have bone in this fight, I am a tiger fan

But we all have plans how to handle marable and he tends to mess up every teams plan. Seen him play against us last year and he beat up our QB. Not looking forward to seeing him this year

i like kevin and i am sure he will adjust to marable well, the county will enjoy this matchup
