Kentucky commit would consider switch to UGA

Alexander offensive lineman Kevin Mitchell said he still intends to sign with Kentucky.

Except if Mark Richt calls.

“The only thing that would change my mind [about Kentucky] is if Georgia offered me,” said Mitchell. “But I know that’s not going to happen because they already are loaded with offensive linemen.”

The 6-foot-7, 295-pound Mitchell is a member of the AJC’s The Georgia 150 and also has offers from Indiana, Louisville, and Oregon.

Mitchell said he was impressed by Kentucky’s campus and facilities and the security of the coaching staff. Wildcats assistant Joker Phillips will be promoted when coach Rich Brooks retires.

“It’s good knowing who I’m going to be dealing with, if and when coach Brooks leaves,” Mitchell said. “Kentucky is a program on the rise and I want to be a part of that.”

Three of Georgia’s 13 commitments are projected to play offensive line: Chris Burnette of LaGrange, Dallas Lee of Buford, and Austin Long of Memphis.

I don’t care what anybody says - you can’t ever have too many offensive lineman in the SEC.

I agree with you rudyt. The kid is 6”7. Heck, turn him into a defensive run stopper up the middle or he can bat down passes. Go get him.

Why would this player go to UGA? Sit on the bench to keep UK or any other school from utilizing his talent? Wait out another UGA infractions probation? Not many NFL players that made it on potential.

You have to admit, it does feel good to have great HS players who can’t wait to play for the Dawgs!

CMR and his recruiting team have already lined up their remaining recruits with a few exceptions. We need some playmakers and some defensive back help in the future…

“UK campus pretty? Guess he’s never been to Athens!”

Guess you’ve never been to Lexington around springtime when Keeneland’s in session.

Pago Flyer,

I have been to both UGA and UK campus. I have seen games at both. Athens does not come close to the beauty of Lexington, with the horse farms, bluegrass, Keeneland, and the women are MUCH more beautiful. I think you need to visit some other states and see what you are missing.

The comments by carlothedon are slighlty erroneous. I have been to UK as well as several Kentucky Derbys. It is no contest…UGA. UK’s campus is second rate except for Rupp Arena. The state of Kentucky has NEVER been reknown for its feminine beauty. I realize Ashley Judd is your symbol of a UK fan, enough said! Can you say Hatfield and McCoys? Hillbillies and inbreeding. Snake worshippers. Yes, this is the Kentucky we know and love!

I guess you are right in that Kentucky has never been “reknown” for its feminine beauty, but I do know there are some hot young women at the University of Kentucky. Now, I’m not going to dispute that UGA has just as many beauties as UK, but please go to Keeneland one time and tell me Lexington doesnt have a surplus of hot women.
