Florida WR Wooten set to commit to UGA in two weeks?

Speculation continues to mount that Georgia’s next commitment will come from Rantavious Wooten, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver from Glades Central High in Belle Glade Fla.

Wooten, one of the nation’s top receivers, said he’s narrowed his choices to a pair of SEC schools. His selection will be revealed on Friday Aug. 29.

“I am down to Georgia or LSU,” Wooten told Scout.com. “I feel comfortable with both, but I just see a better fit for me at one university than the other.”

Wooten says he’s already made up his mind.

“I already know who it is,” he said. “No press conferences or anything like that will be needed at the school. I am just going to tell someone. I am sure the word will spread.”

Playing time will factor into his decision.

“[Georgia] coach [Mark] Richt is letting me know that I can get some good looks right away,” Wooten said. “I checked out depth charts, and I feel like I am making the right choice.”

He wants to play for a winner — UGA Doesn’t want to play for a wiener —GT, plays with a wiener, and they’re whiners. Tech weenies!

Wow, ranked 28 by Scout and 34 by rivals, that doesn’t sound like one of the top rated WR’s in the nation! Hope you waste one of those last spots on him!

Lol. Funny you should say that considering you obviously know very little about CMR and his recruiting track record. Just look at what he did with former 1, 2, and 3 star recruits such as David Pollack, David Greene, Thomas Davis, and Kelin Johnson. He hauls in top 10 recruiting classes on an annual basis for a reason. THE MAN CAN RECRUIT! CMR obviously holds Wooten in high regard if he warrants him with a scholarship offer. Stars don’t mean everything in recruiting.

Top ranked WR??, What in the hell do you mean it doesn’t sound like one of the best wr’s in the country? Let me explain this to you r-e-a-l s-l-o-w. He is the 28th BEST WR in the country! Get it dumbass? Get lost. Oh, I forgot. You already are.

Hey Top ranked WR??? These rankings are by a bunch of “experts” who are trying to sell their websites and magazines. Notice how those recruits that committ always drop in the rankings while the uncommitted rise - it’s called a marketing ploy. Why don’t you crawl back into your hole if you can’t contribute to the discussion.

I just watched his youtube video, and I don’t care what his ranking is….that kid has great hands, good speed, and ridiculous moves once he gets the ball in his hands!!

Bring him on home CMR! I’d love to see him on one side and AJ Green on the other. Put those guys on the field with our stable full of running backs….oh man!!!

Why criticize a kid based on rankings established by “recruiting gurus”? Sure as a Dawg fan, I would love to sign all number 1 kids, but that is a bit silly. Remember that the true gurus are the coaches and not some person proclaiming to be an expert. Most of these people never played or coached football. Look at the schools that are recruiting this kid. He must be good. LSU, the defending national champs and UGA, the next national champion are his final two choices. A junior to watch for is a DB/QB out of Dodge County named Cyprin Buris. The kid has good size 6’1 200 and legit speed. Go DAWGS.

You are one of the top high school receivers in the nation. LSU has no clue who their QB is going to be. Georgia currently has one of the best QB’s in the country with two of the top high school QB’s in the country coming to Athens next year. Which school would you pick?

You are LSU. You have three 4* recruits that are RS Soph, RS Frosh, and True Frosh.

You also a commitment from the #2 recruit in America in Wooten’s class in Russell Shepard of Houston…Who just happens to be a quarterback.

It seems, Don, as if you are the one whose in desparate need of a clue…We have backed off Wooten, as he’s had a bit of an issue throughout high school with hamstrings. It prevented him from camping with us a few weeks back.

Even though he couldn’t participate there, he drove, all the way from his HS, just to walk through the camp and be with all of the other recruits. I assure you, if we wanted him, he would’ve already committed.

LSU’s hard and heavy after DeBose in FL, and also a 5* Rueben Randle, whose the best WR in Wooten’s class in America.

Now Don, I know what you’re doing…You’re reading this response, realizing you don’t know what you’re talking about, and getting owned at the same time. The bile’s building up in the back of your throat, and you’re thinking of some pithy, vitriolic little response to dash off to me here…

Just stop…Push the keyboard away from you…Take the next few plays off, Champ…

Great…another short receiver. Yeah, I know, he’s highly rated. But the future is about 6-3, 6-4 receivers like AJ Green. Randy Moss types. If UGA is going to spend a scholarship on a 5-11 (if that) receiver, this guy better have world class speed.

Man, you guys are so easy to stir up, this is fun! So how do you explain the 4 and 5 star recruits that were busts, did the almighty CMR coach them down?? I know it’s a crapshoot dumba**, just funny how the AJC makes is sound like you guys might be getting Randle, Brown, Kelly or Debose, the #2-5 rated WR’s on Scout. Just get the season started already, these chats are getting dumber by the day!

TigerEdumacated, since you like to act like you know what you are talking about and pretending to own people, let me school you for a moment.

First off, Wooten did indeed camp at LSU and participated. Quote from the camp…”I’ve seen on TV how they use some of their receivers. In some of the 7-on-7’s they’ve had me doing some of the same routes. I like it real good up here.” In fact he did camp at both LSU and UGA and was a star at both camps (per Rivals).

Secondly, he had a committable offer while he was at LSU camping, but he didn’t want to commit at that time. The LSU coaches tried to strong-arm him, but he didn’t budge.

Yes, Randle and Bell are good possibilities for LSU (not DeBose). Bell and Wooten are a toss-up skill wise and LSU wouldve taken either.

So TigerEdumucated, stop talking out of your arse about something you obvioulsly don’t know as much as you think you know about. That is all…school is out.

Good Recruit! If you would like to know more about him go to Scout.com. UGA’s prospects are listed. You will see 2 uncommitted five-stars listed along with 4 four-stars leading the list. One of these four-star WR’s is a 5’9” commit to Florida, another commit is 5’10” and one of the five-star players is 5’10.5”. Mr. Wooten is listed at 5’11” as a four-star. One five-star is listed above 6’ while the remaining four-star player is above 6’ and ranked 10 places below Mr. Wooten.

Whatever your criterion, it seems as if Mr. Wooten is a great recruit! Hope we get him.

Hey, TheOwner…Kenny Bell committed to LSU almost two weeks ago…

For a guy whose got enough mental faculties about him to log onto the AJC and respond to LSU fans like myself, you’d think you’d have found out about something that happened that long ago…

Looks like “The Owner” must still be “Owner Financing”…

Thanks for the lesson, Confucious…

Wooten is more of athlete versus WR in HS. He plays various positions including quarterback. He just seems to have the ability to make things happen on the field. He has great moves and speed but because he is not solely a WR doesn’t have some of the stats that other pure WRs have.

It’s always a guess who will rise to the next level but it appears that Richt wants a mix of speed and size. In Wooten you get that speed and open field ability much like what you got with Moreno (who by the way was only a 4 star also). I’d like to see us pick up a big man like Brown or Bowman in addition to one or two playmakers like Wooten.

TigerEducated: I have one question for you: if LSU really didn’t care about this kid, why are you investing the time and the effort talking trash about him?

Your actions speak much louder than your words.

By TigerEducated

August 16, 2008 12:55 AM | Link to this

I have never “talked trash” about him…I’ve said he has some nagging physical things that the staff looked at and didn’t like…

As a pure football talent-if you leave out his health-he’s high on anyone’s board. It’s foolish to say otherwise, and even more foolish still for you to try to say I was implying or inferring that.

We have moved on, and we have signed other prospects and have a pretty good feel on Randle, so he’s moved down our list…He’s also talking about PT, and I’m guessing you guys need someone for the slot next to AJ Green from last year’s class (I think you guys signed him last year)…

He will definitely not have a real shot at not redshirting with his size and our numbers at WR.

I never said we didn’t care, I said that our focus moved elsewhere, and we’ve gotten verbals from comparable if not superior talent elsewhere on our board, and are also after the same sort’ve talent.

It happens…If he’s not a Tiger, then he’s Tigerbait…

Please don’t try to conjure up an argument out of thin air that I haven’t come close to making…

Still waiting for “The Owner” to come back and tell me about Kenny Bell’s commitment…LOL…

Wooten attended a camp at UGA in early August. The word is that while both UGA and LSU have made him an offer in person, only UGA has actually sent it to him IN PRINT. It is unclear whether or not LSU is actually going to make Wooten a real offer. You add that to the fact that he could play immediately in Athens where as in Baton Rouge he would have to WAIT IN LINE behind an already loaded arsenal of talented WRs. Check Dawgpost.com for further details.

I would trust the coaches’ evaluation of his status more than I would trust Scout or Rivals. If CMR wants to recruit him, that’s enough for me.
