Perry OL Farms takes another look at Auburn
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Perry’s Johnnie Farms, one of the nation’s top offensive linemen, said he is headed back to Auburn on Saturday.
The 6-foot-3, 310-pound Farms is one of the top remaining recruiting targets for Auburn, which has 22 commitments. Farms is a member of the AJC’s Super Southern 100 and ranked as the country’s No. 10 offensive guard by Rivals.
“I had a good time at Auburn last time,” Farms said. “One of my high school coaches is going to Saturday’s practice, so I thought I would catch a ride so I could see [Auburn] and the lineman in action.”
Farms denied rumors that he is leaning toward to Tigers, but did say he was considering the Alabama school for one of his official visits. Otherwise, Farms has been tight-lipped about recruiting, declining to name any favorites.
Farms has around 25 offers, including Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Clemson, South Carolina and Georgia. Farms made an unofficial visit to Auburn last month with his grandfather.

Farms is a crimson tide lock. Of course, if he somehow decided that a no-huddle, stupid Troy offense was a good idea for his 310 lb frame, he’d be the jewel of their class.
Anyone noticed that Auburn’s class is going to ranked outside the top 20 AGAIN?
Wonder what Tubs will do if he gets bitten by the Dawgs for a third straight and somehow drops one to Saban? My guess is he’ll regret acting all high and mighty and “recommending” Muschamp for the Arkansas job when he should have tried to jump for it. Either way, Farms or not, Tuberville and company ain’t gonna beat Georgia anytime soon and they’ll be gone in two years.
Fact is, they were contenders with Georgia and the rest when they could dominate Alabama’s recruiting. Saban is in state now and Tuberville is suffereing big time. Aubs won’t admit it, but their recruiting has taken a HUGE PLUNGE. It won’t show up this year, but it’s coming. And it’s going to hurt.
In fact, this year, I’m worried more about Bama than the Gayest Village on the Plains

I’d like if it he committed to UGA, if not then a lesser school is what he deserves. By lesser, I mean Auburn (though it is a prop town, like a movie set of Athens), Tenn, SCocks, or even lesser — Tech.
But Tech is on a downward spiral in football — self destruction. I can’t think of any other D1 schools that actually lessen the seating capacity in their stadiums … nope, not even one. I think the problem might be the type of student that Tech attracts. Smart, yes no doubt about that. But a smart kid that is very UNathletic. Punjabi, raja, Patel, Singh, etc. Smart kids, but not going to field a crowd for Saturdays on the flats. And the women, oh there is something about that dot that really drives me wild! SEXY!!

Tech does have a problem filling seats…Mostly, out of State ( or country) Alumni fan base. Hang over from Chan. Boy Tech folks hated that guy. & 7 straight loses to Dogs. SMU season ticket sales have doubled with the hiring of June Jones. Tech, in their defense, the home schedule really stinks

Really classy Dutch, or Butch! It is amazing how you know so much. TT & AUB are not shakin’ over Satan as chances are he won’t be around long enough to matter anyway. You should be so proud of Bowden Jr. and the way your student athletes make their headlines. Seems to me you are in a class with Alabama and Arkansas this year! Let’s recap last year. Terrible start, lose to SC, have to engage in an act of unsportsmanship to get fired up to beat your rival Gators that has OWNED you, and must resort to a black jersey to make sure you have enough to beat Auburn. You might want to rethink what you say!

Oh yeah, those BLACK jerseys have power — especially over SideBurn U. Auburn is such a strange place. I’ve been twice for UGA games, and twice more for graduation (my brother-in-law who admittedly couldn’t get in at UGA). I mean if you are from Alabama what choice do you have for a really good education? Most do leave the state!
My impression of the city was that somebody took an artist’s rendition of Athens, and tried really, really hard to build it. Problem is, they only replicated the first few streets. After that it is vacant, empty. It really is like a movie set, a “prop” town sim of Athens.

I think the Dawgs have this one locked up. He’s taking his tour around all the schools and having his fun, but when it comes down to it, he’ll stay in the great state of Georgia. The only thing ever came from alabuma was the invention of the TOOTHBRUSH. Anywhere else it would’ve been called the TEETHBRUSH! Or maybe they call it the TOOFBRUSH. Bwahhaahaa!

Reading comments made by flea-bitten mutts is great. Almost like watching Benny Hill, just without the pretty girls and not funny. Kinda like Larry the Cable Guy.

Wow…what a bunch cooks…Auburn is a “prop town”? Whatever. The only people that would think Auburn is set up to look like Athens are the retarded UGAy fans that think the world revolves around Athens, GA. WOW!
Jayjay…It’s AU Auburn University
Dawgthabootyhunder…I’ve heard that used for every state in the union, including Georgia.
Wherever this kid decides to go to school doesn’t really matter. I hope he goes to Auburn, but it won’t be the end of the world…There are plenty of hogmollies that come to college underweight and pack on some serious muscle and turn into 1st round NFL draft picks a la Ben Grubbs.
Good luck this season dawg faithful! I just hope 2008 isn’t what 2003 was for Auburn. Picked to win the NC, but the schedule takes over. I’m thinking you’ll be tougher to beat next year with all the home games like we did in ‘04. Good luck and see ya in October! War Eagle!

Chill out…UGA hasn’t even offered the guy. We have 3 OL commitments already with ZERO lineman leaving next year. He does seem like a great player though. Good luck young man
