Tampa QB recruit Aycock still considering Tech
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Dontae Aycock, a 5-foot-10, 190 pound quarterback for Chamberlain High in Tampa, Fla., said earlier today that he’s still considering a scholarship offer from Georgia Tech.
But the Jackets don’t appear to be making a major push for Aycock.
Tech already has a commitment from Jordan Luallen, a quarterback from Center Grove High in Greenwood, Ind.
And the Jackets are recruiting Marsalis Teague of Henry County High in Paris, Tenn. Teague is considered the 28th-best quarterack in the nation by Scout.com.
But Aycock is convinced that Tech is still in play, despite little communication recently between himself and coach Paul Johnson’s staff.
“I haven’t been talking to any coaches, period. But I do still get mail,” Aycock said when asked about recent contact with Tech coaches.
Tech is the only school recruiting Aycock as a quarterback. Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Louisville, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Rutgers, South Florida and Vanderbilt have each offered and are recuiting Aycock as a running back.
“Whatever position I play on the next level is fine, as long as I get to play,” he said. “That’s my main concern.”
Aycock, the younger brother of Detroit Lions cornerback Dwight Smith, told Scout.com in April that he nearly committed to Tech during a visit to Atlanta.
“I just said I really like the place,” Aycock said, when asked to clarify his comments. “I’ve been there twice. But I never said that I was going to commit there.
“I like all the schools [recruiting me]. I’ve just got to take my visits [this fall] and start narrowing things.”

Another non-news story. He hasn’t heard from coaches? Here’s your sign, they’re interested in others in front of you. Good luck to you where ever you end up, I just doubt it will be for Tech.

gOLDtimer, you are an idiot! Hit the POST button 1 time, four times (from you) is 4 times too many! No one of any consequence is, or should, consider GT, a program on the decline. It is sad actually, a one time powerhouse reduced to insignificance — to think they were once in the SEC (to much to handle).
I know it really gets under you Nancy Boy’s skin to see UGA ranked #1 — celebrate with us, jump on the bandwagon, think of it as a STATE of Georgia thing. Don’t hate us because we are beautiful. Rise above the petty jealousy — GOD bless us all, everyone! Screw you TECH geeks … MAGE attack!!

Please AJC find some way to block the inane, vulgar, childish posts of YellerSkeeters. I am not a Tech fan but find the trash that Yeller posts to be unacceptable. Surely there is some way to block anything sent from his computer address or sent under his less than amusing blog name.

Yellow Skeeter, you are classless. If I were a UGA fan, I’d stay as far away from you as I could. Also, I don’t think the Georgia Football Team would like to be associated with you and for you to use the word US in referring to them. If you live in the State Of Georgia, please move…..we don’t need people like you in our great state.

He has not heard from us because it is a non-contact period and GT plays by the rules. Only mail is allowed right now unless the player initiates verbal contact.
