Top-rated TE Charles rates Miami visit as “10”

Orson Charles of Tampa, Fla., one of Georgia’s top recruiting targets, said he nearly committed to Miami during a recent visit to the ACC school.

“It crossed my mind, but then I decided I needed to come back home and talk over things with my mom and pastor,” Charles said.

When asked to rate his trip to Miami, Charles scored it a “10.” Explained Charles, “I really did enjoy myself. I got to talk with a lot of players. I feel like it is an up-and-coming program.”

Charles is a member of the AJC’s Super Southern 100 and rated as the nation’s No. 1 tight end by Rivals. He has 29 scholarship offers, and said Oregon appears to on the verge of making an offer.

The 6-foot-3, 227-pound Charles is one of two tight ends that Georgia is heavily recruiting, along with Arthur Fontaine of Dartmouth, Mass., who may be close to committing to Georgia but is also considering Boston College, Virginia and Maryland. Rivals rates Fontaine as the No. 4 tight end.

Charles plays at Plant High with quarterback Aaron Murray, who has committed to Georgia. Charles, who declines to name any favorites, said he is finished visiting colleges for the summer and ready to focus on his senior season.

Orson Charles is a home boy… he is not going out of state. At least he isn’t going to the Gay tors.

Charles, if you decide to come to UGA you will continue to grow with the familiarity you have with Murray. It will only help you grow and make you a better TE. BTW, UGA produces some really good TE’s for the “next level”..

Good luck to you, regardless of your choice.. You seem to have a bright future wherever you choose…

Charles, UM IS not an “up-and-coming program.” Do your history.. And if you want a police record go to UGA, Clark Co & Athens PD will help you with that!! Those two have an agenda to “control” UGA athletes.. research that also!
