Henry County’s Jamal Patterson not bothered by UGA’s stance
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Henry County’s Jamal Patterson is one of the nation’s top wide receivers, holding around 50 scholarship offers.
But Georgia , Patterson’s childhood favorite, has not offered.
“I’m not sure what’s going on there,” he said. “I know they are a little bit lower on scholarships this year. And I think they like smaller receivers with lots of speed.”
The 6-foot-3, 202-pound Patterson said he isn’t upset about not being offered by the Bulldogs. Patterson is an AJC Super Southern 100 selection.
“I’ve followed them forever, but I know recruiting is a business,” he said. “Georgia has to make tough decisions and decide what players fit best into their systems.”
Patterson has said two of his official visits will be to Stanford and Central Florida, while his others will be decided among Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Oregon and Clemson.
“Jamal is a high academic achiever, with over a 4.0 GPA,” Henry County coach Mike Rozier said. “He is a big, strong receiver who presents matchup problems. He can go over people to get the ball, and he’s a deep threat.”

Well, there you go. UGA doesn’t want him because he is a high achiever. He won’t blend well!

I think UGA planning no more than 2 WR schollys this year … they have offered a few guys they like that are out-of-state .. and they are spending their recruiting energy in that direction … at least for now.

Sounds like a great kid. But I’ll trust CMR. Wish the kid well though…
GT45 - I didn’t see Tech on the list. Oh that’s right - he’s a ‘high achiever’.
Get a life..

Stay in the south and play in the best conference in college football the SEC. If he goes to Stanford, he will become a liberal and hate the south and white people also. ROLL TIDE!!

Richt has taken UGA’s program to a level of national prominence and they can be very selective. Patterson is a top-level receiver but UGA is also looking closely at several other elite receivers. These include Marlon Brown of Memphis, Rontavius Wooten of Belle Glade FL, and Andre Dubose of Sanford FL. With a somewhat smaller signing class in 2009, I expect that UGA is still evaluating and awaiting word from some of these other top receivers and isn’t ready to make an offer to Patterson.

gt45- you are correct about not using many receivers or game tickets either for that matter.Remember 4 things gt doesn’t offer, Medical school, Law school, Vet school,or Pharmacy school when speaking of academics.

Yeah Bamma fan - it’s actually much nicer being a lib in SEC country, because you get to see exactly how ignorant the conservative voters are. I mean, these people consistently vote against their own self-interests. Oh, and by the way, McCain will RAISE your taxes if elected - quite frankly because he has to. And I bet you think you were getting “tax cuts” over the last 8 years? Sorry, but that would be your ignorance shining through. We have spent every cent paid into the tax system and have been borrowing from China to pay you off with “tax rebates”. Thats right, nothing but debt. While at the same time participating in a war without any raise in taxes for the first time in American history. What does all this equal? The largest debt in US history. The conservatives, who say that they want smaller govt and low debt, have expanded govt and debt beyond the wildest exaggerations bestowed upon any democratic president. And all this with a republican executive AND legislature for 6 years of the 8 years. I mean, they do the exact opposite of what your party is supposed to stand for and you don’t even blink. Face it - your leaders are garbage and you just eat it up. Are you in bliss?

Please commoncents; we’re talking sports here. Pull your panties up and get over it! The problem is we don’t have any candidates worth voting for. I think Jamal Patterson is a class act and whomever gets his commitment will be getting a good one. I wouldn’t mind a bit if UGA ends up giving him a scholly. He seems to be straight forward and would make a great addition to the Dawgs!

This kid is smart and talented! Hopefully he’ll come to Stanford and blow up the Pac-10. I really really hope the dawgs don’t offer at all to make his decision all the much easier. Richt’s got plenty of talent in Athens, throw us a bone. haha.
Hey bamafan, as we say in California, chill out maaaaaaannn. hahaha

Jamal, you have 50 scholarship offers. Why are you even concerned about UGA. 50 schools can’t be wrong, you should not even worry about a school that has not offered you. You & Stephen Hill would make an outstanding WR tandem at UCF.
You have plenty of opportunities, forget about that school in Athens, they aren’t thinking about you so don’t think about them.

Jamal, Come on down to UCF. They’ve got a great Freshman quarterback (Rob Calabrese) with a huge arm that will be the future. He broke all of Boomer Esiason’s records in High School and will feed you all day!.
