Clemson and Tech eyeing Eastside QB Wray

Eastside’s Justin Wray contemplated pulled the trigger on a commitment to Central Florida earlier this summer.

But the dual-threat quarterback opted to wait on additional scholarship offers.

Georgia Tech, Indiana, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Clemson and Presbyterian are real interested,” the 6-foot-1, 201-pound Wray said. “I think they’re just waiting on my senior season and the first couple of games. That will determine if they offer me or not.”

Wray, who has been clocked in the 40 at 4.5 seconds, has been compared by his coach, Rick Hurst, to former Georgia prep stars Fred Gibson and Fabian Walker. Hurst had the opportunity to coach each in years past.

Wray’s first official visit this fall will likely be to Clemson.

“I like that program,” he said. “It seems to be established.”

He is being recruited by Tech, Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee State as a quarterback. Everyone else has him on the board as an athlete.

Wray and his teammates practiced in pads for the first time this season earlier today during Eastside’s version of midnight madness.

“We were out there at 12 a.m.,” he said. “It was fun to have pads on. It’s a tradition we’ve had for the past four years.

“Hopefully, they’ll keep it going after I graduate.”

My 4th grader was just offered by Clemson. It didn’t come as a surprise given the fact that Clemson offers 200 schollies a year.

Man you gotta come to play on historic Grant field. The women here are awesome. I hooked up with a pretty Indian girl on campus yesterday. Her father owns a Dairy Queen and her cousin is doing computer work overseas. Man does my future look bright.

Brian the whole damn state is threatened by Tech. A training ground for terrorists and a threat to embarrass this state everytime they play football. That’s what Tech is. Sh&t, didn’t some Al Queda get caught over there at the North Avenue Trade School?
