JUCO receiver from Dacula commits to Auburn

Cameron Kenney, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver from Dacula, became the latest member of Auburn’s 2009 recruiting class after committing to the Tigers Sunday night.

Kenney, who is set to begin his sophomore season at Garden City (Kan.) Community College in a few weeks, will have two years of eligibility remaining when he joins the Tigers next fall.

“LSU and Auburn were the only schools from the southeast that I had on my mind,” Kenney said. “I went to visit Auburn on an unofficial visit during the summer, and that’s all I needed to see.”

He spoke with Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville and several of his assistants earlier today.

“All the coaches were just as excited as I am, maybe even a little more,” Kenney said.

Kenney caught 43 passes for 633 yards and three touchdowns during his freshman season at Garden City. He also rushed for 322 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries.

Just right for the spread offense, it seems Auburn and Florida are in the groove signing WR for the spread… It want take long before most SEC schools including UGA will be in the mix..

Is this kid that was the punter as Dacula as well?

When Stafford moves on I think UGA will go to more of a spread with Gray then Murray but it’ll be more like Missouri’s spread. Or you could say CMR will be going back to his roots with no huddle fast break stuff only this time with a few spread option plays mixed in. However if Zach wins the job then they may stick with direction there going in now. That’s one of the things I love about the current staff at UGA they adapt there scheme to fit there talent. However you look at Tech PJ says our offense is like FL & WV but we do it from under center. If there so similar then why not adapt your O to be ran out of the gun which Nesbitt is used to? PJ’s O is supposed to be part run N’ shoot but these days it appears to be all run with passing only for big play opportunities. This seems to be a trend is coaching though: June Jones offense is a lot different from the original run N’ Shoot because there’s almost no RUN. Rich Rodriquez’s O seemed to vary based on his QB, at Tulane they threw the ball more at Clemson the ran more then it seemed to vary as well at WV but leaned more option however now it seems more option with some passing elements. I think they can have a good year if he runs some option but mainly throws the ball with Threat. At any rate yes the spread & speed at WR will be a growing trend in the SEC.

mdawg - yes, he punted for Dacula. From what I’ve read he started playing football his jr year of high school and was all state his sr year. His grades were a mess and no one recruited him because of that because there was no doubt he was going straight to juco.

He was an All American juco receiver, return specialist, punter and kicker last year. A quote from an al.com article on him - There was the 82-yard punt against Dodge City Community College that Hutchinson Community College head coach Rion Rhoades called, “the greatest kick I’ve ever seen, on any level.”

Apparently his juco coach would let him decide whether to fake punts or not. He basically just gave him the green light if he wanted to or not due to his speed.

Thanks Kage…Yes I remember reading about him having to go to JUCO but I thought it was more over lack of recruitment than grades either way it’s worked out for him. Jeff, Is Auburn just recruiting him as a receiver? Expect for fatigue I don’t see why he couldn’t punt & be a returner as well. Sounds like long term his best shot at the NFL might be as a punter.

If he is so good then why isn’t he going to Georgia? JC transfer. I thought Tubs said he was only recruiting players who buckled down in class and took care of business away from the field. He must be desparate or lied. Which is it? Too many stories floating around. Writers stretch the truth and coaches like Tubs make it up as they go. Why, because Coach Saban is whipping his but in recruiting. GO DAWGS!!!! It does not matter the DAWGS are Loaded and auburn isn’t. That cheese spread offense will be their demise.

Georgia will never go to the Spread. Where did you hear that? Coach Richt has never even hinted at that. Please show a link or something. Stop rumors before they start. I repeat UGA will never run the Head Cheese Offense, not as long as Coach Richt is Head Coach.
