Henry County’s Jamal Patterson names two finalists

Henry County’s Jamal Patterson, one of the nation’s top prospects at wide receiver with nearly 50 offers, said two of his official visits will be to Central Florida and Stanford.

Patterson, an AJC Super Southern 100 selection, said his remaining three visits will be decided between Florida, Tennessee, Clemson, Auburn, and Oregon.

Patterson on Central Florida: “I know there will be some people surprised to hear that because it’s a Conference USA school, but it’s very under-rated. Central Florida has one of the best campuses I’ve ever been to, and they play big-time football there. They were also the very first school to offer me.”

Patterson’s choice of Stanford is proof of the Pac 10 school’s ever-increasing presence in Georgia. The Cardinal signed Walton linebacker Chase Thomas last year, and have commitments from Lassiter offensive lineman Camden Wentz and Northview tight end Brock Sanders.

JP would be the man at UCF, and there is nothing better than the UCF campus and of course the UCF “scenery.” wink wink

Honestly though, UCF has a bunch of great young QB’s that could be throwing him the ball for his 3 to 4 years there. Aside from great academics, UCF has done a great job of putting guys in the NFL as well. Everybody wants to be a Knight, JP! GO KNIGHTS!

Why on earth would a decent football player go to a small time school like UCF? Doubt he’s dumb enough to make a mistake like that

UCF has great academics since when? Its a 3rd or 4th tier school according to US News

You mean as opposed to the big-time program at Stanford, Me?

Honestly Realist, I don’t know why we keep coming in 3rd or 4th. It’s a mystery, because UCF is hard as hell to get into and most of the classes are hard as hell to pass.

Come to UCF.

The reason UCF gets ranked low according to US News is because US News’s ranking system is no more than a coaches poll. Department heads rank other school and their own school. It barely changes every year, regardless of changes that have occured with those institutions. Similarly to your “realistic” thinking, the US News ranking is static, and resistant to change.

UCF is a sleeping giant, just wait. They’ve done nothing but grow and change for the last 10 years. They’re now the 5th largest school in the nation and they have an administration committed to academic and athletic success.

UCF isn’t small time, in any way, shape or form.

JP, you’ll be making a very smart decision in coming to UCF. You’re chances of making it to the NFL will only go up. The UCF fanbase wants you!

Go Knights!

Since Tech is not being considered, I can say without feeling guilty, that UCF is an up and coming program and would not be a bad choice. Good luck wherever you decide to play.

Strange he just said last week he was 100% sure he would be taking an official visit to Notre Dame and would not make a final decision until after that visit. Yet, this is not mentioned at all in this article. Hmm??????

I looked and was surprised that UCF had 3 players drafted last year. No other school in Florida had more than 3. The U only had 2 as did FSU! O’leary must have great connections to the NFL.

He would also be a standout there and really make a name for himself whereas that wouldn’t be the case at some other schools on his list. Plus with UCF’s proximity to GA versus Stanford his family could easily see him play.

Seems like a no brainer to me.

UCF sends players to the NFL and those players succeed in the NFL. UCF wins conference Championships and is quickly outgrowing C-USA. UCF can and will compete/win against BCS schools for the next several years. JP can/will help prove that UCF is BIGTIME to people like “Wake up kid” who haven’t noticed the huge changes going on in Orlando over the past 10 years.

“…and Patterson catches his third touchdown of the game as UCF rolls over [insert BCS school here], shocking the world yet again.”

Don’t hate on UCF. It is the ONLY SCHOOL IN THE NATION with a liquor bar on campus. Who else can say that?!? Current NFLers from UCF: Daunte Culpepper, Asante Samuel, Brandon Marshall, Mike Walker, Kevin Smith just to name a few!!! Dont hate HATERS!!!!

UCF is on the rise. We have great coaches, good academics, a lovely campus, and great facilities. And, we all know that to get to the NFL, you need playing time. JP should get a great amount of playing time and exposure at UCF.

Go Knights.

Small time and UCF do not belong together. UCF is the 5th largest school in the nation, has some of the nicest facilities anywhere, period. Our players get drafted into the NFL and excel there. Gameday atmosphere is second to none, ask the Texas longhorns: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTxV4ta1wlg

UCF is hardly a small time school considering the campus has ~ 50K students. Going to school in Florida, especially Orlando is like being on vacation for four years. You have everything around there and don’t freeze all winter.

Patterson and recent UCF commit Stephen Hill from Miller Grove would make a GREAT receiver tandem. JP head to Orlando so you & Hill can place UCF on the football map

Oregon is the new breed of college campuses. The specialized sports facilities are unmatched anywhere in the nation, plus they have teams that will challenge for the national championship after being ranked #2 in the nation last season before injuries took their toll.
