Henry Co. receiver planning trip to Notre Dame
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

With football practice set to begin at Henry County on Aug 1, Jamal Patterson intends to carve out enough time over the next week to make the trek to South Bend, Ind. to visit Notre Dame.
“I have a lot of interest in Notre Dame,” said Patterson, whose scholarship offer count recently surpassed 50. “Every offer I get is an honor. But getting an offer from a school like that is really special.”
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver and his Henry County teammates are participating in a national seven-on-seven tournament in Hoover, Ala. today.
On an individual basis, Patterson’s summer has included visits to Auburn, Central Florida, Clemson, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Stanford and Wake Forest.
On Auburn: “Auburn is a great place,” he said. “Coach Tommy Tuberville is a great guy. Their offense is what we run, the spread offense. It’s what we run with our quarterback, Drew Little.”
On Stanford: “I loved coach [Jim] Harbaugh and the whole staff,” he said. “They’re energetic and into the game. It seems like they love doing what they do.”
If not for a scheduling conflict with a national seven-on-seven competition he participated in last week in Oregon, Patterson likely would have attended camp at Georgia on Friday.
The Dogs have yet to offer the talented receiver.
“I had plans to visit them,” Patterson said. “But I want to go to the schools that have offered.”

I’ve been hearing this kids name alot lately and I keep up with recruiting heavily. But can anyone tell me why UGA has not offered this kid. He’s 6’2” 202lbs and has 50 offers whats the deal?

Good question Doc Reem. I don’t know. It is not an oversight though.

Heres hoping for the impossible.. (at least to non-UCF fans) and that Patterson picks UCF as his college of choice. His talent at UCF would set league records.

I hope Jamal will attend Notre Dame. One thing I can say about the Irish is they graduate players, plus you will play on national television each week. Not to mention he has a good chance of playing early

Come to Tech - great education - great location - you will have a great future!!!
Speaking of great futures… there were some blogs from spring that suggested GT move to the mighty SEC.
The blogs made me think about GT’s rich tradition and history.
Without a doubt - the SEC is on top of the collegiate sports world - particulary football.
I for one would love to see GT get back into the SEC.
Imagine a football schedule that would have Florida, Tennessee, Uga, and S. Carolina year in and year out. Rotating visits from Auburn, Alabama, LSU!!!!
Sorry guys - Clemson is great - but Miami and VT - feel like Big East South. Wish FSU was permantly in our side of the conference. VA, NC and Duke just do not get it done for me.
There are those who think we would not compete - well - you are losers!!! Did we not beat Auburn the last two games? Besides UGA coming to town - the stadium atmosphere when Auburn was at Bobby Dodd was incredible!!!!!!!
Tech competed very well up until we left the conference in the early 60’s.
Leaving the SEC was a horrible decision that Bobby Dodd later regretted.
We are in the heart of SEC country. Joining the SEC would raise our profile with a fantastic schedule - recruiting will not be an issue!!!! The stadium would absolutely rock. Press coverage in the AJC would be better as most readers in the AJC area are SEC fans.
Joining the SEC would tie us back into the thinking of sports fans in our geographical area.
Paul Johnson will do a great job - let’s give him the time he needs.
What do you think about GT in the SEC? I say bring it on!!!!!!

I know these are all good schools, I just don’t understand how a kid could get an offer from Notre Dame and NOT accept it on the spot. They have the tradition, the mystique, the academics, the alumni, the national exposure and they do it all the right way. If I had been offered by ND, I would have gone there in a heartbeat.

He would simply not belong at ND hes just not the notre dame type and I would kind of like to see paperwork of these 50? offers. FYI he wasnt co MVP at the Nike Oregon 7 on 7 he dropped 2 touchdown passes in the championship sounds like a co-mvp doesnt it

Eagles-What do you have against Henry County? All of your posts are very negative. If you are not posting about the coach, your hating on the players, what is your motive behind these childish comments? What comes around, goes around. Karma is a wonderful thing. Good luck in YOUR future.
