Florida TE open to Tech’s pursuit

Orson Charles of Tampa, Fla., is one of the nation’s most coveted tight ends, holding 29 scholarship offers.

Charles said most SEC and ACC schools have offered him, with the exception of Georgia Tech. When asked about it, Charles said he has no explanation: “Georgia Tech has a new coach and new offensive system. Maybe they are just trying to figure out what type of [personnel] they want to fit with what they are doing. I’m really not sure.”

Is it too late for Georgia Tech? Would Charles be receptive if the Yellow Jackets extended a scholarship offer? “Yes, if they offered, I’d listen to what they would have to say, just like with all the other colleges. I’m open to it.”

Charles, who is one of rival Georgia’s top recruiting targets at tight end, transferred to play at Plant High School for his senior season. Plant’s quarterback is Aaron Murray, who committed to Georgia over 53 other scholarship offers.

The 6-foot-3, 227-pound Charles said he is being recruited by almost all schools at tight end, but that a few have discussed playing wide receiver. Charles would likely project at wide receiver in Georgia Tech’s scheme.

C’mon man … I agree this is a non-story. To paraphrase a quote from Billy Madison … “everyone here is now dumber as a result of this article”. If you can’t find a real story somewhere take the afternoon off and go to the driving range or something.

Very insightful column - you obviously have done your homework, but here are some rumors you may not have heard of yet…

A new autopsy reveals UGA VI actually died from hepatitis c that it got while cuddling with sonny purdue.

The grass in omaha has been growing faster and greener than usual. Turns out uga tears are good for more than just entertaining millions of people on espn. Greenskeepers in Dubai are anxiously awaiting football season.

Coach Richt is trying to sue dwight from the office for copying his trademark butt-cut hairstyle.

uga will introduce a new major this fall - bachelors of science in tv/cable repair.

I can see two reasons for the non-offer.

1) He plays tight-end, which CPJ does not use in his system.

2) His grades and/or SAT were crappy and he could not get admitted to Tech. Unlike UGA, Tech actually has higher admission standards than the NCAA minimum.

3) No sense expending energy to recruit the very best athletes when you know you ain’t gonna be in the race.

Tech’s new offensive system doesn’t use tight-ends anymore. Why would they offer him? This isn’t news.

GT offering a scholarship to a tight-end is about as likely as UGA offering a scholarship to a kid who can read and write. Neither are gonna happen!

Ho hum, the same old tired cliche Nerd Herd excuse. “Our Standards are so high that no one except an Einstein or Tesla(look him up nerds, he was pretty smart) can be admitted to the hallowed halls of the Technology Institute. Which of course explains Reggie Ball, Ruben Houston, and a host of drug dealing, female abusing felons. Coach PB&J will take anyone that will help your mediocre weak as skim milk program and he won’t have any problem getting them admitted(see multiple ineligible geniuses admitted during the O’Liary regime) academic cheating and grade falsification, fine old Tech traditions.

Can’t you find anything better for Michael Carvell to do? Is he one of your summer interns? All Tech’s tight end will ever do is block, not catch passes.

I get it. What better way to get more bulldogs on the Tech page than to write about a UGA target who hasn’t and won’t be offered by Tech?

SHOCKING! Tech’s academic standards have nothing to do with this…it’s about the system. It’s so easy even UGA grads can do it…(new Geico slogan)

Michael—if you were familiar with GT, you’d understand the new offensive system does not use tight ends.

Of course, if you were smart enough to make that connection you wouldn’t be working at the AJC.

The University of Georgia just released a new bulletin that states since Uga VII won’t be available for picture day, fans can have their picture made with any of the UGA cheeleaders, since they all have similar features. It goes on to say be sure and bring a wide angle lens to incorporate the whole subject, or be prepared to take pictures from a distance! Hey, don’t shoot the messenger!

How come every football story, whether listed under the Tech or UGA header, always devolves into a janking contest?

Yo mamas so dumb she couldn’t get admitted to UGA. Oh yeah. Yo mamas so ugly she was made captain of the GT cheerleading squad.

Come on guys, show a little class. Let’s talk football and leave all the adolescent bulls**t out of it. Leave that to the gameycocks and gayturds.
