Douglass LB Atchison mulling over Alabama, Auburn offers
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
Douglass linebacker Jonathan Atchison grew up liking Auburn football, but every day in practice he hears about the Alabama tradition.
Douglass assistant coach Allen Hollie, who played for the Crimson Tide, makes sure of that.
“He is always talking about the tradition and the mystique of Alabama football,” Atchison said. “There is no escaping it. I’ve always liked Auburn when I was growing up.”
Both schools have offered scholarships to the 6-foot-3, 212-pound Atchison. Atchison also has offers from Central Florida, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Maryland and Rutgers.
He had 112 tackles and 12 sacks last season and caught 14 passes for 370 yards and five touchdowns from his tight end position.
“I’m looking forward to taking my visits to the schools,” Atchison said. “I went to camp at Auburn earlier this summer, but I look forward to going back down there to meet all the coaches and see the facilities.”

I bet Coach Hollie wears his “Got 12?” t-shirt to practice.
What do you call a huddle at Alabama? A drug ring.

Big Daddy….your spelling of thief (T-H-E-I-f) indicates that you must have been an honor graduate at UAT !!!By the way, there are about 50 Auburn players wearing National Championship rings from 1957. How many Heisman Trophy winners has Bama had? NONE! Auburn has TWO !!!

RCN, along with the 7 Georgia players who’ve been arrested since January, must have been buying coke from Jimmy Johns. RCN was buying because he’s so jacked up he hits the post button 3 times and the 7 arrested UGA players cause they are just plain criminals anyway. Oh, and did I mention Odell Thurman, he of the front page of the Sunday AJC. As for wareagle bill who gives a hoot about the Heisman. Its an individual award of which there are many so who cares you idiot. Lets talk SEC and national championships.

I am positive, there is a significant finders fee waiting for Coach Hollie to get this kid to commit to Alabama. Unless one coach stiffs another, I guess the NCAA does not give a dang about grease payments and automobiles to coaches.
He is always talking about the tradition and the mystique of Alabama football??? Cheating… A tradition that keeps on going and going!

12 National Titles for Bama? You’ve got to be kidding me. I can’t believe they claim all of those. If Notre Dame claimed every title they’ve been awarded over the years, they’d have about 19 while AU would have 4. The Tahd is the only school who claims all the “Campbell’s Soup” national championship junk from the old days. All the others ONLY recognize the AP/UPI/BCS stuff. Talk about Tradishun….good grief.

Is their “6” (soon to be “7”) consecutive losses to Auburn part of their tradition and mystique? Alabama football SUX because of bone headed decisions made by their administration. They hire idiots for coaches including the present one. It’s GREAT to be an Auburn Tiger!!!!

Congratulations Jonathan. You seem to be a great kid. Just stay in the books. They both are good programs. Alabama needs LB’s more. Auburn has already have 4 committed for 2009. You want to go where you can play. However, Auburn has a better LB coach. Don’t listen to your coach. You are the one who has to go there for four years. You are not him. Your experience will be different because you are a different person. Go with what feels comfortable to you. They both are good programs. Don’t wait too late though. These big programs are notorious for not holding schollies for 3* players if 4 and 5 star players come along.

You Booger eaters are relentless. Even Tubbs said the streak won’t last forever. The more trash you talk the worse it will be. You already have 6 years worth of trash talk built up, you really think you’ll be able to deal with the death of the streak? Next thing you’ll say will be something idiotic like “it will go on forever!” You guys are a joke. Look up Auburn’s stats for NCAA infractions and you’ll find the DEFINITION of cheating. Got a Rammer Jammer with Auburn’s name on it! See your asses in November, chumps!

These kids being recruited to play college ball today don’t give a flip about who won a championship in 1899, 1957, 1964 or 2004. They DO NOT CARE. No matter how much you try to dream it true for them, they DO NOT CARE! Maybe if you could put them in a time machine and send them back to play for Minnesota in 1930-whatever. They are going to play when they think they can win ASAP or get drafted. Period.

How can you even mention Alabama in the same sentence as Auburn? I don’t hear UAB or South Alabama being mentioned that much. Gosh, I guess next we will start comparing Georgia Southern and all of their “national titles” to a superior team like Auburn. Get a grip, Alabama is one of the sorriest teams in the SEC. Who cares about the past, besides Alabama dreamers? Alabama currently ranks near the bottom of the SEC…if not the very bottom. I mean, how many SEC teams do you know of that lose to Lousiana-Monroe? Answer:None. I can’t think of a worse team in the SEC than Alabama. Ole Miss, Miss State, Kentucky and Vanderbilt are all atleast as good as Alabama. And they do it while running a much cleaner program. Mark these words:”Alabama has seen it’s better days”. I bet they don’t even play for the SEC for the next 10 years or so. So, hold onto that past Alabama fans, because that is the only “glory days” you will remember. That is, if you were even around to see them in the first place…which I doubt.

AU win national a championship w/o SHUGG Jordan. Yeah, you all have a streak. It won’t last long. By the way, AU is the only team in SEC to go undeafeated and not mention for national title, enough said. AU with their ugly Coach Troll (Tubb’ville)
