Georgia withdraws offer to recruit

Nico Johnson of Andalusia, Ala., one of the nation’s top linebackers, said he was “disappointed” when he found out that Georgia was no longer offering a scholarship. The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder has 15 scholarship offers and counting, including ones from Alabama, Auburn, Southern Cal, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

“I found out recently that Georgia took everybody they needed at linebacker for this year,” Johnson said.

“It was disappointing because I was really looking closely at Georgia. But everything is ok. I’ve still got a lot of great colleges to pick from.”

Georgia has commitments from 11 rising seniors, including three linebackers: Michael Gilliard of Valdosta, Chase Vasser of Gainesville, and Dexter Moody of Twin City.

These kids and I do mean KIDS, need to learn that it is okay to enjoy the courting process by the schools but they need to make a decision and not drag out their time in the limelight or someone else will take their spot.

TheBlogger, you are a dumbass. What in the hell is wrong with letting someone know MONTHS in advance that you didn’t commit early enough so we gave your scholly to someone who did. It doesn’t waste any more of his time so he can focus on schools that still might need him or a school that will over recruit and throw him away. Find a story about tech if you can find one. How’s the rape case going?

UGA would have loved to have you Nico. They have 3 linebackers committed with one current LB that will play DE in college. If you would have committed 2 months ago, then they would be telling someone else that they are full at LB. It happened to 2 recruits last year.

Nice position to be in to turn down quality players … UGA hasn’t had this problem in the past! I agree, these younger players have got to learn to commit when offered and not drag it out. Everybody wants to play for winning, competitive programs and the ranks fill up quickly. It appears UGA will be competitive in the years to come.

Agree with Dan - UGA would have loved to have Nico!!!!

However, it is a numbers game. It’s first come - first serve. All prospects know this.

It is very appropriate and professional for a school to contact prospects and rescind offers if the needs have been fulfilled. To not do this would be a shame and would be wasting the prospects time and giving him false sense of what his options are.

Unfortunately - prospects that want to take their time will find that their pool of options will shrink the longer they wait - due to how early kids are committing.

Recruiting is also a two way street - Remember what happened last year with the tight end that pulled the last second switch - leaving UGA and signing with Clemson. Omar Hunter had been begging for UGA to get him a scholarship - but UGA had used all available slots. The tightend (Allen) told UGA a few days before that we was definatley firm wtih UGA. Hunter signed with UF. UGA lost a great tightend prospect - but also lost a great DL prospect as well.

It’s a numbers game….and that’s how it is in the crazy world of college football recruiting.

I see nothing wrong with UGA letting a recruit know well in advance that he’s free to attend other institutions of higher education for free. The University owes him nothing, and it says a lot about our Athletic Department that he got any explanation whatsoever regarding their dispensation of scholarships. This guy will get an opportunity at a college degree, so why the bashing of UGA just because it won’t be in Athens?

It really doesnt take long to make up your mind as to where you are going to play. Coaches who see a guy stringing them out for media attention are not the players you want. I don’t see anything negative about this story. The young man wanted to check out his options, UGA, in the mean time, filled its need at LB, and let him know that they were no longer interested. So what’s so bad about that on anybody’s side?

I know this is off the subject, but I was very sick last year and not on-line often, so I have to ask a question I’m sure has been asked before: How do the coaches in the final Poll last year justify leapfrogging USC (#6 prior to bowls) over UGA (#4) after the bowl results. As I see it, the coaches had our bowl opponent ranked higher than USC’s and the scores of the games were almost duplicates of each other. Take into account that it was pracrically a home game for USC, and I see no appreciable reason for this other than a bias among the coaches. Yet another reason to get rid of the BCS monstrosity. Sorry again for venting so late after the fact, but, as I said, illness prevented me from being more timely. Thanks.

Honestly, the reason Nico didn’t commit to UGA earlier is that he was most likely going to Alabama anyway. And even if he didn’t/doesn’t go to UA, it was way too soon at this point for him to rule Alabama out. No shame in that. Signing day is seven months away, so you can’t really fault the kid. Blue-chip out-of-staters don’t usually commit this early, anyway, unless it’s to an in-state school.

Georgia got three good LBs already, so it’s no loss to them. Honestly, I think Georgia was Alabama’s main competition, so I expect him to commit to Alabama for sure now.

By Recruitdad

I guess you can’t blame either party but first of all these kids are 16 or 17 and they are suppose to decide the next four years and possible their entire life when they can’t even take official visits yet. And why do they have signing day in Feb if they are going to fill up their roster by August.

Give the kids a break, let them take their time. If they choose somewhere early in the process and decommit, then everybody gives them a hard time.

Putting a kid up against a seasoned recruiter who does this for a living and knows how to size these kids up and break them down in less that 5 minutes is like David and Goliath. The coaches hold all the cards and the kids are like pawns unless they have very aware parents.

For anyone questioning what Richt did with Nico Johnson, get a clue. There is NOTHING wrong with hos he handled this situation. UGA has 3 and they want one more and will likely get Jones. It is pretty well known that Nico is going to committ to BAMA as is Tana Patrick so Richt is at no fault for being up front and telling the kid he is not longer being pursued by UGA.

dawglickthemselfs,

Remember its not UGA’s fault that they played Hawaii in their bowl game. Everyone knows that they should have played USC in the Rose Bowl but the wretched BCS decided to let USC squash Illinois and let UGA destroy Hawaii when the Trojans vs Dawgs would have been a much better game

As far as recruiting goes, we all know its not an exact science. Remember Moreno wasn’t a 5 star player on scout or rivals, but was one of the most productive freshman tailbacks in SEC history. The Dawgs filled their quota at LB and have moved on. Lets just hope that NICO decides and doesn’t have anything happen to him like what happened to Zebrie Sanders last year.

I agree that it was the proper thing for UGA to do. Maybe, he will come South to the Swamp and play for my Gators! We are kind a weak … meaning inexperience at the LB position… then we could use Nico to start the six win streak over UGA by UF again!

As for this year, UGA has the best talent of the East but a horrible schedule! UF has fantastic talent, the returning Heisman Trophy winner, the best recieveing corp and a much improved running attack….and a GREAT SCHEDULE that will propel UF to Atlanta and then on to Miami….yes Dawgs … it could well be the UF will have more national championships if football than UGA by the end of this year’s football season!!!!

By GOPGator

Here is a recent post in the on-line edition of Collegefootballnews.com:

Florida: This Florida team is going to be special and they should be the preseason favorite to win the SEC Championship. The defense is stacked with young talent just as the running back position is and they have the best player in college football, Tim Tebow. The road schedule is extremely manageable with only 3 true SEC road games ( Tennessee , Arkansas and Vanderbilt). The other impressive fact that might help the Gators nationally if they lose a game is the schedule. They play the usual tough SEC schedule and have three marquee names on their out of conference schedule ( Miami , Hawaii and Florida State ).

Georgia : Matt Stafford and Knowshon Moreno should have huge years this season, UGA returns a ton of players, but the schedule is just nasty. If they can win out with this schedule they are guaranteed a spot in Miami , if they go through it with 1 loss and an SEC title they should be there as well. Stafford has all the tools to be a great QB, but he has been inconsistent and has thrown a lot of interceptions (23 INT) in two seasons.

We will send post cards from Atlanta and Miami!

Go Gators!!!!!!

Will you UGA fans ever stop whinning about last year? It is amazing that you think you should have played in the Title Game. Hell, LSU really did not belong with 2 losses, but they won the SEC Championship game. The Trembling Chihuahua’s did not even qualify for the game. You finshed 3rd in the SEC! What about that do you not understand. It does not matter that BCS does not have a rule about winning a conference title. You did not take care of business when you should have taken care of business.

  • Yes, Hawaii did not belong in the Sugar Bowl.
  • Yes USC vs UGA would have been a much better game.
  • If you make it through the 2008 season unblemished, then you will deserve a shot at the title. Your coach has it right. Enjoy the season, but do so cautiously as you have the hardest schedule in the nation. He is being realistic and so should the fans.
  • Stop thinking that it is your God given right to have every national title handed to you. You did not get screwed last year. You screwed yourselves. UF will have a serious bug in their butts over last year. ASU on the road! LSU on the road at night!!! Auburn! Alabama (that should be a win!) Even the Vols have a shot as UGA seems to never show up until after halftime. We have won 3 of the last 4. Seriously, I am surprised that you did not cry foul when Fresno State beat your tail ends for the CWS Title.

Don’t even start to bash UT. I am realistic about this season and we are at very best a 7-4, 8-3 team. We have a new OC, and realatively untested QB. Fatty Phil still has one one of the best overall records for active coaches and he has one more Title than Richt does. (By the way, I have a lot of respect for Coach Richt) And yes, UT sucks at recruiting, so it says a lot about Fulmer’s ability to coach what he has available to him.

Its great to be a GA Bulldog. If you do not feel that way someone else who is just as talented as you do. We told that lineman from Lagrange the same thing a couple of years ago. You guys make it sound as though you were doing him a favor by asking him to come to UGA. So he goes to Alabama. So What! Saban will just waste whatever talent this kid has and under achieve just like he did last year. Saban could care less if he wins or loses. His money is guaranteed no matter what. Saban has enough money in the bank, that when he does get fired in 3 years, he will never have to coach again. “Roll, Tide Roll, down the toilet bowl.” The only way Bama will get back on top will be to “Dig Him Up!” Bear is spinning in his grave!

I do not believe that anyone has said that they run their program better than the Bull Puppies. Every program has it problems and deals with those problems differently. Richt is a great coach. He deserves better fans than what he currently has available to him. However, Richt does have a bit of a problem with the behavior of his delinquents outside of the program and does little to address it. If he is not careful, he could wind up being the next Larry Coker. Doubtful, but it could happen. When a recruit signs on to a program, he represents the school both on and off the field. And no, UGA is not one of the best institutions in the nation!

You mean similar how Rolondo McClain who was a freshman all-american and Kareem Jackson who was freshman all-sec? Good call there.

Yes Saban’s money is guaranteed but to say he doesnt care is funny. If he didnt care, why would he have put as much into recruiting as he did? Why would he be putting that same effort into recruiting this next class as well? How did he manage to take 3 of the top 5 players out of Tennessee last? You may want to rethink that one too.

Hey, VolStuckNGa, I wasn’t whining about last year. I was simply asking if others had seen the same inequity in the final coach’s poll as compared to the very same poll prior to the bowls. How do the same coaches who ranked you higher before a victory find that another school is better despite the fact that their opponent was ranked lower by them than yours? SECisFootball: I guess you did not read my comment about Vol Recruiting and that we suck at it. Again, I am a realist unlike most Bama and UGA fans. As far as your two freshmen all-sec, kudos to them for being stand outs on a mediocre team. But seriously 2 out of how many on the team. I would bet that even Vandy had someone make the all sec freshman team. I sincerely hope they continue to do well. As far as beating us last year 41-17. Yes, we got our asses whipped and we deserved for not being prepared. But then again, A blind squirrel will find a nut every now and then. Had we not lost to you UGA would have really not been able to whine about not playing in the title game. Looking forward to seeing you guys on the third Saturday in October.

By the way the correct spelling is “queer”. You Bama fans need to censor your morons a little more. They are only upholding your reputation as a bunch ignorant, uneducated toothless idiots like the UGA fans. By the way, you have lost 6 in a row to Auburn, it must really hurt to lose to a bunch of queers. What does that say about you?

VolStuckNGA….my point was not that UT sucks in recruiting, it was simply that it is hard to say that Saban doesnt care since he puts so much time into trying to build a solid team. And yes, that is exactly what Saban and his staff are doing. I am glad to see you are going to judge Saban’s entire body of work and coaching history based on one season at UA. Maybe you can go judge Spurrier’s entire body of work on his career in Washington? Saban has as many SEC and National titles as Fat Phil does in far less time. Most people believe Saban will build a winner in Tuscaloosa and since you are one of the few who believes he won’t, I will take their word for it.

And yes it sucks losing to AU but dont live vicariously through a rival team just to feel better about your team being spanked!

Personally, I have always respected UT, the rivalry and the fans. Maybe I am in the minority but seems like you are one who just hates BAMA no matter what.

As far as the double postings, I am not sure why that is happening, but it is not intentional. But then again for Qball maybe he needs to read it twice to fully comprehend. (Oops is that too big of a word for you Qball!)

SecIsFootbal-Did you have to bring Darth Visor into the conversation? Maybe I am not being fair to Saban and if does pull it off then good for him. True that one season does not make a career. However, the way he left Miami should leave huge question marks in all Bama fans about his integrity. If he goes 6 and 6 again, will he pull a Dennis Franchione and bolt with his money?

I do not necessarily hate Bama fans. I can certainly tolerate them a lot better than the whiners here in Georgia. I don’t really care about the AU/UA rivalry. Everybody throws opponents records against other teams at each other. 32-39-1 against a former perrenial power is not that bad. In fact if you really want to get down to it, check you facts, but here is a small Division III school in Tennessee that has the only winning record in football against Alabama, The University of the South in Sewanee, TN.

I am sure that you will try to question Fatty Phil’s integrity based on Bamagate a few years ago. All the school’s tell on each other so that really is not an integrity issue. This one made headlines which is why everyone knows about it. Some moron like Qball, let it leak that UT had something to do with it. All the school’s are constantly turning each other in. Fulmer has never told his team that he will be there and then leave the next day.

Hey Qball, when you learn to spell then you might be allowed back into an intelligent conversation. Until then go back into you single wide and finish off the 24 pack of PBR you bought this morning with your toothless cousin who is your wife.

He was 6 and 6 last year just like Shula was the year before if you are talking football? Oh yeah, The Vols are 10-4-1 against Bama since Fulmer took over. 3 and 1 over the last 4 years over the Trembling Chihuahuas of Athens and at one point we had one 9 in a row before Richt got there. By the way I like Richt as a coach and person. I feel sorry that he is stuck with juvenile delinquents as players who do not seem to understand that they represent UGA on and off the field and he has to put up with illiterate fans such as yourself who can not compose a sentence if their life depended on it. Whoeee!!! You got a pick up truck and a box of tissue!!! Is the tissue left over from crying about finishing third in the SEC last year, or becasue you thought you should play for the National Title? I guess the size 13’s were the last pair at the dollar store and you decided to get them because you thought big shoes meant the girls would think you had something to actually offer them. Boy was your girlfriend sadly disappointed! Oh well! See you in Athens this year. A Finkelstein? Did you just get out of 5th grade or is that the farthest you got? Let’s see….. People have been predicting our demise for many years now and except for one bad season in 2005, I think Fatty Phil has done a pretty good job. He is in the top 5 of all active winning coaches. This year, if you had bothered to read all my posts, then you would know that I am realistic about this upcoming season. We are 7-4, 8-3 at best. You are the fan that Richt is warning everyone about. You have given no consideration to the fact that you have the hardest Division I schedule next year. You have ASU on the road, LSU at Baton Rouge at night! LSU has almost a .900 winning percentage at night in Death Valley. Florida won’t be easy either as they will be ticked off about last year. If and the key word id IF, UGA goes unscathed and wins the SEC Championship, then they deserve the shot at the Title. They will have earned it! That is the key that most UGA fans do not seem to understand. It is not your God given right to have the Sears Trophy handed to you. You have to earn it!

By the way it is Spurrier, not Spurior.

Recruiting, you took some from us and we took some from you. Besides UT trouble has always been recruiting, we basically suck at it! At least I am man enough to admit it.

Fatty Phil still has one more National Title than Richt does.

See you at half time in Athens!

Yes, you are whinning about GA Tech people have said about UGA. UGA VI was great mascot and a great dog. I happen to like bulldogs as dogs and think they are a trip.

At no point did I ever threaten you. Blogs are about having some fun andtrying to have a reasonably intelligent conversation with someone about something we all love. Football and the SEC.

At no point have I whined about anything!

As far as Marines go, I am forever in their debt for the rights that I have that they protect on a daily basis. I personally am medically ineligible to be in the service, but if I wasn’t I would have more than done my 20 years + for this country. If you are or were a Marine, then thank you for your service.

My advice to you right now is to sober up, realize that you read me wrong and apologize. If you want to talk football, then talk football and back it up with facts. Finally, You actually brought up some minor football facts. Okay, the coaches, Mark Richt, Vince Dooley, Steve Spurrier (get it right), Bear Bryant would have to be the last guess.

Okay, Fatty Phil is 11-5 in 16 seasons against UGA, but only 3 and 4 against Richt. The Vols overall are 20-15-2 against UGA. The Vols are second only to Alabama in National Titles won in Football with 6, Alabama has nine. UGA has 2 (1942 and 1980)

As far as my being able to read “big” magazines, I certainly hope you are not trying to say that you are more educated than me. I have one degree from one of your top 100 schools in U.S. New and World Report, and I am currently working on a second degree in Accounting at another school. Basically you insult my intelligence with comments like that after reading all your posts that are the grammatical equivalent of dragging your finger nails down the blackboard. So 2 wrongs make a right. Did not insult your girlfriend as you stated that you don’t have one. Please look long and hard at your posts. I would be embarassed at the way they were written if I was as culured or educated as you say you are. You talk about getting me unstuck and using your “size 13’s” on me and you want me to beleive you have class. Please read my posts! I have been trying to talk football. Obviously you do not go on blogs very much, especially the sports blogs. I love it when someone calls me a hillbilly from Tennessee, because I am not one. it is all part of the fun of blogging. If you are too sensitive to take a little ribbing then don’t come on here ribbing other people like gopgatr and telling him how bad his team is.

I am surprised that no one else has jumped on this band wagon. You have left yourself open with they way that you write your blogs. If you are educated then show it in the way you write. Don’t write sentences that are grammatically incorrect, have numerous spelling and syntax mistakes, and make threats to beat me up.

And last but not least, lighten up and have some fun! I mean you no personal harm or injury. If I did offend you in any way then I do apologize. I alos really do not want to talk to you anymore because you are no fun! Have a nice life, Go Vols, Go SEC!!!

I’m sure others have already jumped on the bizzare logic of your sarcastic comment, but I can’t resist.

This poor guy got a phone call from the coaches telling him that we have limited scholarships this year that are about 70% spoken for already, three at his same position… seven months before he needs to make a decision, UGA tells him that he should go with one of the other 15 offers that he has… and you act like his future has been squashed.

Supply and demand. There are 85 players that can come to UGA. Since UGA nearly always finishes in the top 10 under Richt… more players want to play at Georgia than scholarships are available.

However, he can call tech and get in that school any time he wants.

82 Dawg, I don’t think he meant that Moreno flew “under the radar” in recruiting, but he was rated below about 9 other running backs coming out that year.

He has overachieved to date in that he is generally considered one of the top 2-3 running backs in college football for next year.

I think we can all agree that Richt and company got that young man to come to Athens!

VolStuckNGA…I dont have an issue with what Phil told the NCAA as much as I do with the cowardly manner in which he did so. We were guilty and were punished accordingly and you will never hear me say otherwise. But, if he had an issue he should have gone to Dubose and the SEC and not be a secret witness to the NCAA and hope his testimony was never released. He knew he handled it wrong and that was evident by his being afraid to show up at media day that year.

The reason that we have struggled the last 2 years is because those sanctions have finally taken their toll and left us short on depth. We had virtually no depth on the defensive front 7 and if you look at our recruiting under Shula, that was no exactly something he put any focus on. Saban is slowly filling in the holes with top talent and will have BAMA competing for the West title in 09. This year there will still be a few more growing pains with young players but you can be assured we will be a much improved team.

I am sure you have a beef with some BAMA fans but dont judge all of us based on those who post on message boards. I will assure you most BAMA fans I know expect an 8 win season and anything more will be great but not likely.

I don’t necessarily have any real issues with the BAMA fans. I do think the death threats on Fatty Phil were a bit over the top. My beef right now is with all the Trembling Chihuahuas in Athens. All I hear is one of two things: 1. We got screwed last year and 2. The National Title is ours. If I hear we got screwed one more time I will puke. Trying to reason with them is like reasoning with my ex-wife. It will never happen because they won’t listen to reason.

Sam: I probably do need to get a life. Sorry to have bored you. I do not pretend to be perfect and I do realize that there are a few spelling or typos in my posts. My point is this if you want to talk SEC football, then lets talk football. If you say you are educated, then atleast make some attempt to back it up.

I do not usually get into the mood to talk football this early before the season. I am so ready for the end of August, I can’t stand it. There is really nothing else Sports related to talk about here in Atlanta. Once again the Braves are a mediocre team because half the team gets bused to the park from the assisted living home in Alpharetta. The other half comes straight from the hospital.

Quite frankly I am tired of the UGA people and their attitude about last year and this year. Kudos to Mark Richt if they pull off a seemingly impossible season. They will deserve it. If we get our butts whipped in Athens, I will take my lumps and get ready for the next game. But I will tell the victors that they palyed a really great game and they deserved to win. This is something that virtually no UGA fan can or will ever do. They have proven to me time and time again that they are poor losers and even poorer winners.

    volstucknuga,

Now see…this is what is boring. You denigrate UGA fans with this self righteous “I’m tired of the UGA people and their attitude…”. You say you would congratulate the dogs if they whip your butts yet “virtually no UGA fan can or will ever do” that. I don’t know where you’ve been…but many UGA fans did what you claim we don’t. Your condescending tone and the claims you make are not even about football.

Believe me, UGA fans are just as sick of hearing the score of the UGA-Tenn game over and over again. Talk about poor winners. Tenn got lucky to catch the dogs when they did. They finished the year as SEC runner up (loser) with a worse overall record and lower ranking than UGA. UGA had a legitimate beef about the BCS and the NC, the arrogant opinions of vols fans liken yourself notwithstanding.

UT won the game…it is ok to talk smack about it. It is not cool to denigrate our fans they way you have. Even with your BROAD experience with UGA fans (numbering in the MILLIONS) you can’t begin to say you know we are virtually all poor winners and losers. That really gets boring…arrogant and boring.

VolStuckNGA….Agree with your comments about Fulmer but if the situation was reversed, some backwood redneck UT fans would be giving the same threats to whatever coach did it to UT just like the idiot BAMA fans gave against Fulmer. I doubt any of them very actually serious but then again, you never know what some idiot fans will do. With BAMA-AU being the best rivalry in the SEC, I think BAMA-UT is the 2nd best and it is one I enjoy every year. The 90’s were painful but it seems we are getting out footing back in that series. Now if we could only do that with Auburn and LSU!! I have a feeling that is one the way as well!

It’s a tough decision for the kids, but they need to ralize that these offers are serious business for the school. If you get the offer you really want you better tell them or it will be gone. They (college recruiters) are now looking at kids in the 8th and 9th grade and watching their progress. When you are a junior and get several offers, you need to study on it for two or three weeks max and pull the trigger, cause it will be gone fast.

While I agree that recruiting has gotten more intense, I think that guys like Johnson have so many offers that they will end up with a great program. What I find funny is that all these UGA fans think that Johnson had UGA as his leader and now he has no shot at going there. It is pretty common knowlegde that he is BAMA’s to lose so it is not like he is going to feel like he is missing out on something. Especially since he is a life long Alabama fan.

BCS Slave and Jack: A little defensive are we? It seems I struck a nerve with both of you. The only beef you really have about last year is that there is no rule in BCS that says you have to win your conference championship game or regular season if you don’t have a championship game (Ohio State). However, the perception in the voters minds is that you did not deserve it because 1. You finished 3rd in the regular season. 2. You did not qualify for the SEC Championship game. 3. Your 3 (USC, UT, UF) losses came to teams who were ranked lower than you. Now tell me again why you think you should have played for the National Title. I have only met and talked to one UGA fan who understands this concept and also understands that your upcoming season is not a walk in the park. The funny thing is that had Tennessee won the SEC Championship game, you would have palyed for the National Title and we would have gone to the Sugar Bowl.

You think that I am condescending and a hater? What about the way all of you trash Phil Fulmer? He has has .760 or better winning percentage over the last 16 years and a National Title, yet you think he is the worst coach in football. On the other side, if you read my comments about Mark Richt, I have had the utmost respect for him and think that what he has done at UGA is nothing short of amazing given some of the Academic Standards that UGA tries to maintain.I believe Coach Richt has issues with the behavior of his players that he needs to address. All players no matter what school they play for represent the school on and off the field. As far as Saban goes, they way he left Miami to come back to the SEC was cowardly and causes me to question his integrity. Otherwise, I do not nor have I hated on BAMA fans.

If I were being arrogant, then I would be just like the majority of the of the UGA fans who think this year is going to be a cake walk and that the BCS should just hamd them the trophy now. I have never brought up last years score all though at one point it was fun to see the look on the Georgia fans faces when it is brought up. When UT won the National Title in 1998, I did not go into the season thinking it was ours to lose. Again this year, I am being realistic. We are 7-4, 8-3 at best.

Just like Tenn Fans brining up last years score, We got screwed and We are the 2008 NCAA National Champions rant that most, not all, of the UGA fans are on is old and boring.

Don’t sit there all high and mighty thinking that you are perfect and don’t denigrate other fans, especially TN and their coach. Your attitude is hypocritical, arrogant, condescending, and boring. Not to mention you continue the perception og UGA fans as rednecks with comment like get used to losing to UGA and BAMA, Fat Phil and Tenn are losers. Give me a break!

Sorry about the double post. Issues with the computer.

SECIsFootball: I totally agree with your comments if the shoe were on the other foot there would be some crazed TN fan saying the same thing. BAMA/ AU is one of the greatest rivalries in football. Everything stops in Alabama for that game and it establishes bragging rights and an edge in recruiting for the next year.

Looking forward to this year’s game between TN and Bama. I have a co-worker who we bet on the game every year.

You are also correct on how the UGA people seem to think that every prize recruit belongs to them. Talk about arrogance. In any event, Nico will wind up in a program that is an upper eschelon program such as Bama’s. I wish him well and hope he stays for all 4 years and gets his diploma.

Qball: Why can’t you be like your fellow fan SECIsFootball? I have not said anything about beating up on you even though we will have home field advantage and the taste of last year’s loss in our mouths. It should be a very good game. Show some class and stop looking like what everybody thinks A BAMA fan is; a dumb backwardsass redneck. SECIsFootball has a lot of class and I have liked talking to him. Either talk football or go away!

volstuckinga: You still don’t get it. How old are you?

You come to a blog and lump fans together as if we are all the same person. LOL. I personally have never said anything about Fulmer. I don’t even call Spurrior names and I despise him. You prove my point about you quite well.

However, you have yet to name one specific example of how I have attacked Fulmer or Vol fans in general. Even the one criticism I made (the constant harping on a score) I conceded was due UGA fans. You failed to offer anything that disproves my post in your response to me. LOL. You are just here to attack, not to talk football.

I have to now add “lame” to arrogant and boring. Good luck with all that.

I’m way late on this one. But after reading all these posts, especially the ones between VolstuckNGA and qball I have to say this is true entertainment. Keep it up guys this has been hilarious. Everyone has had some good points here and there and between the Tiders like myself, the Vol fans, and the uga fans everyone has got in a shot or two and volstucknga has gotten in 600 volleys but at least he makes some valid points and is entertaining. As for Nico Johnson he pretty much was a heavy Bama lean and its not a big deal for Richt to withdraw an offer. UGA is deep at lb and if Nico is 90% leaning towards Bama then its no big deal. Richt did the right thing. I just think he hurt the kid’s feelings more than anything else. We all know what an overblown sense of ego a lot of these bluechip recruits get. I’m not necessarily talking about Nico, just some of the kids in general.

BCS Slave: Point taken regarding your not having said anything bad about Fulmer. I never said that you did. I also in my last post siad the majority and not all have the views about UGA.

Go look at the reports about Fulmer and his raise and the blogs that accompany it. Did he deserve a raise? Maybe, maybe not. Go to Fox Sports and the blogs there and you will see all the vitriole that is spewed by the UGA fans towards Fulmer and the Vols. I love my Vols, just as you love your Bulldogs. This is where I base my opinion on most but not all Bulldog fans.

I truly do believe that there are many UGA fans out there who realize that they did not take care of business last year and that this year is going to be difficult based on the schedule. I would like to hear from those fans who want to talk about the upcoming schedule and not talk about how they are going to “whup” my “arse”, call me “qweer”, and sink my vol navy.

Please reread my posts to those like SECIsFootball. He is a BAMA fan and we have had a normal conversation. Then look at the ones from Qball, red and black, and Jack and tell me that they did not attack me also. Honestly I do not want ot have conversations with them because they are all one sided. They think God is on their side and that even if they were 0-12, they should have the National Title. If they want to throw insults at me then so be it. I can sling it with the best of them and it can fun sometimes. Go look at the posts on Fox Sports last year from the games. It was really funny to see how may UGA fans were so damn happy that TN lost to LSU in the SEC Cahmpionship game not realizing that there chance for the national title went with it.

Tell me how UGA is going to make it through that tortureous schedule. How will UGA beat Florida with only one week to prepare, unlike last year when they had 2 weeks? What about Florida’s attitude given last year’s thumping by the Dog’s? By the way I was pulling for UGA in that game, because we needed Florida to get the loss. I would rather talk with a Sports Fan such as yourself and SECIsFootball, then those other idiots.

And No Red and Black, mispellings do not tick me off. They make me laugh and make me realize that I too am not perfect and mispell words too and make typos.

I am kind of done with Qball and Red and Black. All they want to talk about is violence and how they want to kick my butt. However, I am proud of Red and Black and his “A” in High School spelling. I actually finished spelling in 6th or 7th grade. Oh Well!

Okay QweerBall since you want to get into an insult rant and not talk football, Here you go!

Stop drinking the PBR, as clearly you can not find your cave to crawl back into.

It’s QUEER, not QWEER, however you can keep doing it and continue to be an embarassment to the BAMA nation. My guess is that you were dropped on your head at birth and that explains your inabilty to put together a sentence that does not involve the word “qweer”.

The fact that you are actually using a computer is amazing, or is your mama typing all of this for you? Hmmm that may explain the mispellings.

Your elementary school called and they will be holding you back in the 5th grade again for the tenth year in a row. They said you still had not mastered the “U” in the alphabet. They also want their finger paints back. I know this hurts as your children passed your grade several years ago. Is it true when they see you on the swingsets, that they look away from embarassment?

You just proved my point QweerBall!!!! The only comeback you have to this one will be to call me a “qweer”. Again, go back to your cave, sleep this one off, and then apologize to the BAMA nation for being such a retard!

VolStuckNGa-inasmuch as you are still a student somewhere (according to your own post), I can excuse your repeated failure to discern what QBall truly is. He probably has an IQ of 170 and won the National Spelling Bee championship - he knows how to spell the “Q” word and is just getting your goat. To claim Saban will be unsuccessful at Bama is rediculous. If he can win a NC at LSU, which had only one when he arrived, he can surely win at Bama, which had 12 upon his arrival.I graduated from Bama in ‘49, but attended the U of the South while in the Navy V-5 in WWII (as well as U of Louisville), and that school does NOT have a “winning reord” against the U of Alabama!!It’s Bama 17-11-2, with Sewanee’s first win coming in 1893 and the last in 1921. From 1923 until the last game in 1938, we were 12-0 vs Sewanee, outscoring them 534-23. Please check facts before posting. I have followed Bama on the radio and then at games, since 1931 - we have 11 VALID NC”s (plus one in ‘41 that can be argued over)and we were the only unbeaten, untied team in ‘66, but were only “voted” nr 3. Saban WILL give us a valid 12 (or 13) by 2010 or sooner.

Sorry!! Should have been “we outscored Seawanee 341 - 25” over that period. We also have a losing record vs Notre Dame and Texas, but have beaten all but a few others, and everyone in the SEC, more than they have won over us.

Bama49: I am referring to an article in Sports Illustrated about the Great 1899 team from Sewanee and the 100th Anniversary of that season. In that article when the 1999 Sewanee Football team was invited to tour the fascilities at Tuscaloosa, a young Sewanee player pointed out to Gene Stallings that Sewanee had a winning record against Alabama.

Now my mistake in all of this was probably not completely verifying my facts. Something all of us do from time to time in the sports forum. As far as Saban not being successful, never said he wouldn’t. He did underachieve last year, but as SECIsFootball pointed out he actually did a good job with what he had. The thing I do like about Alabama is that they understand at least most of them do that a title has to be earned.

I appreciate the information and I do stand corrected. I attended University of the South and received my first degree from there with a major in International Politcal Science and a minor in Religion. The second degree that I am after will help in getting me a promotion and higher pay as it is a business related degree.

As far as Qball is concerned I think you are giving him far more credit than he deserves. if he did have an IQ of 170, then he certainly would have had a better reply than his last one where he called Fulmer a rat and me a “volunqweer”. Talk about lame.
