Flowery Branch DE impressed with Georgia Tech
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
After attending a one-day camp at Georgia Tech nearly two weeks ago, Flowery Branch defensive end Izaan Cross continues to feel good about first-year coach Paul Johnson’s program.
“After I left Georgia Tech that day, I thought ‘that was a good situation,’” the 6-foot-3, 250-pound Cross said. “I had a good time there. And I saw one of my former teammates, [Tech quarterback] Jaybo Shaw.”
Recent elbow surgery will limit Cross’ athletic activities through early next week, when he is expected to resume summer weightlifting at Flowery Branch.
That will Cross additional time to mull over scholarship offers from Arkansas, Central Florida, East Carolina, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, N.C. State, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Florida, Tulane, Wake Forest and West Virginia.
He will likely take several visits later this summer.
“I may be taking trips next month,” Cross said. “I think I’ll go through North Carolina and N.C. State and probably stop at South Carolina on my way back.
“Later on, I’m possibly going to Florida’s camp that they call Friday Night Lights. And I’ll be stopping by Mississippi State.”

“I thought that it was a good situation.” Was it the fact that you knew you could probably start immediately? Or was it the amazing student body? 1/2 the student body is foreign, it is in the middle of the hood, the traffic is terrible, and they sell hot dogs and cokes to go along w/ season tickets for $100. Great Situation! Go to FSU son!

Hey Joey, Why don’t you go back to your Bulldogs site. Your schools long and continuing list of jailbirds, suspended and kicked out of school players gives you room to talk about Tech. Oh by the way, this is about the 10th time in the last week that Bulldog fans have gotten on the Tech blog and mentioned the Foreign students at Tech. A little racist aren’t we. Maybe Mr. Cross would prefer to be apart of a campus that welcomes everyone no matter their race!

No, he probably just wants to go to a school that speaks English primarily.

Joey will go back to the UGA portion when all the tech people come back here.
I am sick of reading comments from techies on any and every UGA article.
Seriously, get a life guys.

You said it JP!! …
I just posted a big -U on GA’s blog about Karma being a b* remembering all their “warm” remarks back in December when Tech lost to that LOWLY team from the WAC, Fresno State. Yep, GA getting their arses kicked like they did the past 2 games is tantamont to what FSU did to Tech in football.
Nice effort GA!!!!
B-O-O, H-O-O!

I have never been to the UGA blog - not interested. Obviously, the juvenile types from UGA feel the need to show up here.
As for the “foreign” students at GT. Is it GT’s fault that most HS students from Georgia go to a University because they can party? Most foreigners are at GT to learn a discipline that American is falling behind on - engineering.
And obviously you have not stepped on GT’s campus if you think it is in the “hood”.

Good for you Izaan! I wish we had you back in green and gold! Good luck to you, I know you will show them all who you really are- no matter what “hood” you’re playing in!

Mr. Cross, come on over to Columbia. Come play in the best conference in college football and be part of something special, something that’s never been done before as Spurrier leads the Gamecocks to the top of the SEC.

Congratulations, Izaan, for all that you have accomplished.
With all of the offers you have before you from across the country, from the number of outstanding programs, speaks volumes as to your abilities on the field and classroom, as well as the caliber of young man you are.
Your parents and coaches should be very proud of you and I am happy that all of the hard work that you have put forth in the field and classroom has paid off for you; you have earned it. I hope your recovery is swift.
Ignore all of the ignorance on these blogs and enjoy your senior year, You certainly deserve it.

Joey,
I know you don’t want facts to get in the way of your pontification, but less than 18% of the GT student body from outside the US, and most of those are graduate students.
In the midst of your inaccurate postings, did you ever stop to think why GT is more appealing to foreign students than places such as Athens or Tallahassee? Guess what? Students from all over come to Tech for the education. Perhaps Mr. Cross will be interested in that aspect of his college choice as well.

Fresno State is my new second favorite team. Hey Joey I do not want you to go back to the UGA site. I want all the Dawg fans to stay all season. This will be the season of discontent. Georgia will not win it ALL! Herschel is GONE. UGA was and still is a high second tier program. Better than Tech in Football. Equal in spooning. No matter what happens always know UGA will get the trailer park fans. That means Joey’s family can still bark like a Dawg as well. I love you guys….your like the one slow kid we always ripped to shreds in school. Tell all the boys down at the Quick Lube I mentioned you today.

And he learns how to steal.
And he learns how to fight.

Why do you jerks take away from the fact that this KID is making a decision that will impact the rest of his life? Going to Tech will give him a respected degree from an elite academic school! Let’s get started about FSU or UGA’s “outstanding” student bodies…

Could someone at 72 Marietta St. please fix the above headline? It’s Flowery Branch, not Flowery Brach. And there’s another mistake on the ajc.com front page. Good Lord, people, get your act together. Who’s proofing this stuff?

Well, at least they fixed the goof on the home page about Ron White being too (to) drunk to fly. But this headline mistake lives on. For the love of Lewis Grizzard … Get. It. Fixed.
