Spurrier interested in 6-foot-7 Heritage TE

At 6-foot-7, 240-pounds, Heritage’s Justin Jones possesses the ideal size for a tight end.

But Jones, who has scholarship offers from Akron, Delaware, East Carolina, Kentucky, South Carolina and UAB, is willing to lineup nearly anywhere on the field.

“I just want to play football,” said Jones, who is being recruited by everyone as a tight end, except the Gamecocks who like him at defensive end. “I’ll play wherever they put me.”

Jones, who has visited Kentucky, gets to meet veteran coach Steve Spurrier later this week when he travels to Columbia.

“I plan on visiting South Carolina [Tuesday] or Wednesday,” Jones said. “I’m looking for a nice campus. I’ll look at the campus and facilities and get a feel for it.

“Coach Spurrier has a lot of prestige. I just want to play football.”

Jones, who plans to attend camp at Vanderbilt in July, believes he’s close to offers from Alabama, Clemson and Mississippi State.

His goal is to commit by August.

“I want to try to make a decision before the season starts,” said Jones, who claims he doesn’t have a front-runner. “But if I don’t like what I’ve got on the table, I’ll just wait it out.”

Justin, just make sure you pick a school at which you have a good fit and from which you will graduate. Good luck with your final choice.

GameyCOCKS can have him — he’s slow as molasses! A prospect that need a lot of work! But, TECH may offer too — they like prospects who look good on paper … you know, just like their program in general — looks good on paper. Too bad the NERDS can’t get them robots to help out. They can win in cyberspace, kicking butt in World of Warcraft — Mage attack!!

If you are looking for a nice campus and great facilities then look no further than the beautiful Georgia Tech campus. We could use a big body like yours to block for PJ’s unstoppable offense. Please take a visit and see for yourself :)

Nice campus? Tech? Your perspective is skewed! I’ve been on quite a few college campuses all over the state/country, and I can truly affirm that the words “Nice” & “Tech’s campus” would never be used together in a sentence. Unless your starting point/perspective stem from a trailer park/mobile home.

Tech is in the middle of one of the largest cities in the U.S. This is way too scary for these youngsters — “a lot can happen in big city” — although, Whattya Have is across the “street” (75/85) & he could get that FrostyOrange anytime his heart desires — that’s a good selling point “gOLDtimer” —Stress that: The Real Varsity.

Tell those recruits about World of Warcraft clubs too … MAGE ATTACK!!

At this stage of the game, Spurrier wants anyone that thinks he will still be at COOT U after this season. Five recruits so far and one decommitted. One 3 star and three 1 star committments. It appears that the COOTS do not wishg to participate in the recruiting process this year.

South Carolina is once again a sinking ship. Maybe after Spurrier calls it quits they can dig up Knute Rockne’s bones and sit them on the sidelines. Surely the presence of such a great name will reap huge benefits. What a pathetic joke of a football program.

SECCoachnDallas, I would be p** and spreading FALSE information too if I got a beat down like UGA did in Athens against SCAR.

What a bunch of panzi fans! Pathetic! Stick to your own damn blogs.

Coach Steve “I own UGA” Spurrier.

Gamecock fans are really delusional if you think a 16-12 victory is a beatdown.

This is a beatdown, Georgia owns the series record 44-14-2 (USCe wins one out of four) while outscoring them 1298 to 713 for a differential of 585 points.

BTW your program has an alltime losing record (521-523-44.) Maybe, just maybe, your legendary program can break .500 this year

BTW - way to go uga…carring the SEC flag in the College World Series…hope uga wins that title. I am envious that USC hasn’t been able to win one yet and this will be uga’s 2nd…yeah, I am jellous about it but I have FAITH, USC will get one SOON!

YellerSkeeters are PeterEaters! So the trailer park/mobile home you are referring to must just outside of the UGA campus? We’ve seen that students can die at any school. If he goes to UGA he will either be rapes or hit by a drunken drive. How many UGA players are going to miss the first couple of games because of DUI. Don’t even mention Joe Hamilton. He’s washed up. His charges don’t involve underage drinking!

USC may get the recruits to beat UGA, but when are you going to get the recruits to beat Clemson?

No doubt that UGlAy has better athletes. Just like you did last year. But even that fact didn’t give you a win…..IN ATHENS did it! Nope, it didn’t. We beat you last year (and I don’t care if it’s by 1 point or 100) so we have the bragging rights. And we will beat you again in Columbia this year. BANK ON IT!

I guess imitation is the most sincere form of flattery…thank you, Idiot!

Who is spreading false information, I ask? On the COOT (Scout)website was a hit from ESPN’s Forde saying that a change in the SEC’s coaching could be taking place at the end of this football season. It read, “Problem is, not all the big winners can win big. And when this season is over, the guess here is that someone will decide (or be convinced) that its time to get out of the sausage factory. Leading candidates: Fulmer and Spurrier.” Does Forde have some inside infrmation? Maybe, maybe not but we will see in January of 2009.

All you dogs and tigers sux Spurrier is the bets coach in the land and will take his gamecocks to a bcs bowl this year - just watch this year the gamecocks will when the sec east and the dogs (the most overated team in the whole wide country) will finish thrid at best and probrably fourth only ahead of vandie.

“Spurrier says he is going to be around for 4 more years.”

Really, but where. It seems as if the recruits are not buying that line this year, either. They are not committing to the COOTS. Maybe a 7 and 5 season this year will show them that the program is on the upswing.

PS, Paradise Gamecock It is nice to hear from a Cum Laud graduate of that wonderful academic institution by the State Farmers Market in Columbia, S.C. Please enlighten us with some more of your convivial banter.

SECnDallas, why don’t u go back to Brokeback and finish what u started and maybe you won’t have so much pent up anger toward a school you didn’t attend. Regardless of how many game the ‘Cocks win this year we have more class than you evry will. Spurrier will retire from USC many moons from now and We WILL win the EAST and more. So break the news to your family, PACK your bags and go find the man of your life on the range.
