Tech adds wide receiver commit

Georgia Tech finished off a weekend recruiting rush with the commitment of wide receiver Jeremy Moore.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Moore became the fourth player to commit to the Jackets over the weekend, joining Kennesaw Mountain High offensive lineman Jay Finch, Jefferson County defensive end Chris Crenshaw and Flowery Branch defensive lineman/running back Daniel Drummond.

Moore, who caught 18 passes and scored six touchdowns last season for Johnson High in Austin, Texas, is the 10th player to commit to Tech, and the second from out of state.

The other was Greenwood, Ind., quarterback Jordan Luallen last month.

Please ignore inflammatory remarks(flames) left by ignorant individuals. A response is exactly what they’re looking for, so don’t fall into their trap.

Junior numbers in high school don’t mean a thing. If he’s a good athlete, which I’m sure he is, I don’t even care what his senior numbers look like. It might be the quality of the QB or the system he plays in. For instance - if Calvin Johnson had a better QB at Tech he would have better numbers and perhaps his Heisman chances, but it wouldn’t have helped his draft position at all. The NFL liked his ability. Numbers don’t mean a thing!

I love how dumb fans criticize a player they have never seen before. Please put a UGA before your name so your comments make more sense.

Good WR size, good speed, and very good hands. What else do you need in a WR?

Who said he had good speed and good hands? Did the 18 receptions give it away?

You must also remember that teams recruit to offensive systems. Johnson’s scheme will not work with a prima donna WR who won’t block, for example. He needs strong WRs more than speed WRs (or so one would think) and the prima donna WRs aren’t going to sign on for that system if they have any NFL hopes anyway. The question is not whether this guy is an NFL type receiver, but whether he is a Paul Johnson type receiver.

Hope he likes stalk blocking.

Chances of going pro after being a wide receiver at GT for the next 4-5 yrs? Zero.

GT would do itself well to drop out of the ACC. Flag football don’t work with the men.

Everyone who is hating on the WR just stop! Do any of you guys play or have had the chance to play college ball! Probably not, so I suggest you keep your negative comments to yourself!

I have been encouraged to see the type of players Johnson is focusing on. Two 4 star players already and more being considered. So he is not only getting the type of player he wants, but the better “rated” players than we were attracting in the past few years. As for the UGAg folks, ignore them. They talk down on Tech so badly and yet sweat more the week before thay play us than any other game. Blowing their NC hopes in Athens this year should keep them quiet for a while.

Hey sister. The first 5 posts I didn’t get what you were saying, but the 6th one really helped. Thanks.

Ah Georgia fans, nothing better to do than comment on a Tech board.

As for Jeremy, congratulations. You will have a chance to be part of something special with Paul Johnson & Co. And unlike our neighbors to the east, you will also have the chance to get a meaningful and nationally recognized degree in the process. We are very excited to have you, and glad to hear how much you already like Tech.

Please do not mistake the 18 receptions half of them were for touchdowns. He had more the 6 touchdowns. JMoore is a playmaker and please do not underestimate his talents. You have never seen him play therefore do not judge. Before you make another negative comment about him do your research. Lastly, JMoore was not only recruited because of his talents but because of the man that he is. Did you get recruited by GTech…..ummm I think not so please keep all negative comments, questions, and suggestions to yourself.

I watched this kid at camp with Tech last week and am FLOORED they offered him. He ran a 4.8 40 (My son was in line behind him and asked him) and was WEAK. He needs a lot of weight room work. He wasn’t bad but this blows me away. How will a 4.8 kid do in the ACC? I guess we’ll find out.

To Steve, ATL, You forgot to mention your sons stats or the number of offers he got. You are such a student of stats. How many 4.8s did you run when you were an all star and made all american and all pro. and went into the hall of fame.
