Carver safety keeps Georgia in running
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
If Carver safety Darren Myles Jr. has a list of favorites, the group would likely include Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee.
And according to Carver coach Darren Myles Sr., the powers of the SEC have the upper hand in the recruitment of his son for one simple reason: “Those are the schools he’s visited,” Myles Sr. said.
“He’s still got a few other places he’ll try to visit this summer. He’ll try to get back to LSU, and go to Rutgers, Notre Dame, Michigan and Purdue. And we may try to get up to West Virginia.”
Myles Jr. saw his scholarship portfolio balloon to 34 earlier today after receiving offers from Western Carolina late today and Illinois on Monday.
“But we can’t visit 34 schools,” Myles Sr. rationalized.
Though the elder Myles appeared pleased that his son wants to take several visits this summer, he didn’t hesitate when given an opportunity to give Georgia a ringing endorsement.
“Georgia is definitely in the running for Darren,” Myles said. “They’re an outstanding program and they are close to home. Georgia is in great shape in the race.
“They are outstanding people. And I want to make sure when I’m leaving campus and dropping him off, he’ll be in good hands and with a coaching staff caring about him. And I know that’s one of the staffs that can do that.”
Still, Myles Sr. said he’d be surprised to see his son commit during the summer months.
“Unless something changes, I see this going into the fall,” he said.

“They are outstanding people …” Yes sir we are! And it takes one to know one, so you too sir — Cheers! Only, don’t wait too long to pull the trigger on UGA, we’re filling-up quick. So many “great” athletes want to play Between the Hedges and we are everybody’s pre-season pick to win it all! This is going o be a great year for UGA — our 6th National Championship is on the way! 1927, ‘42, ‘46, ‘68, ‘80 (Consensus in ‘42 & ‘80)
And Now For Something Different! YellowSkeeters drink douche water, I’ve seen them do it! NERDS! Colorado was the REAL National Champion in 1990 (QVEERS were tied) To HeII with GT (North Ave. Nancy Boys) I punch them square in the nose

You morons should be ashamed of yourselves for carrying on like this. Remember when you were in high school and got a nice write-up in the paper (even if it was your community paper) you loved to read it and you’d read it over and over. Now, look what you idiots have done for this kid and his family. If they print this page out they have to give it an ‘R’ rating if not an ‘NC-17’ and be embarrassed to even show their closest friends family. Fools. One and all.

I agree with LA Dawg. Why do the comments for every article, regardless of the subject, have to get in the gutter with personal slurs and inuendos between UGA and GT fans? Sounds like this young man has a great future if he will take it seriously, listen to his dad and be as thankful for this opportunity as he can. Good luck to Darren wherever he ends up.

Odd how UGA has never officially recognized 1927, 1946, and 1968. 1942 was shared among many teams, and I just love how UGA digs up these national titles all of a sudden.
Most prominent schools post their national titles to be seen by the public, and I only recall UGA posting 1980.
Well, would we expect less from a mediocre program? No.
8-4 at best in 2008, check back in September.

Mike Bobo 17 picks - I’m not sure who your allegiance is with, but I can guess. Does 51-7 get your ire up? Probably. Anyway, Georgia was named national champion in each of the years you dispute by a recognized poll. The same with Tech for all of their “claimed” titles. In fact, Tech has never won a unanimous title. Sooooo…I’d venture to say that Georgia has more (1) than Tech (0) if that’s how you want to score it. Back to your cubicle, I want those TPS reports pronto.

To: GT is for Nancy Boys,
I’m a UGA graduate and I find it a shame to UGA for you to exhibit such a lack of class. Any “REAL” UGA fan should be completely embarrassed to read your garbage. Do the University of Georgia a favor and stay off the comment page. This article is about Darren Myles, Jr, a kid who has a big decision to make for anyone his age. Let’s congrat- ulate him for his hard work and ability. Wish him well wherever he chooses, and know that comments from simple minds like yours does not help us in recruiting.

did the gators hold anyone to 17 points last year? Hey gaytor Chomp you must have a defense before you can blow anyone out. And as far as the TD celebration goes. If it really ticked you guys off sooo much then why couldn’t you do anything about it after it happened. Thats right you didn’t have any answer for KNO-MO. You couldn’t even stop him with 8 men in the box. It will be a long day for the Gayturds in J-Ville this year. Oh and I don’t think either team will win in a blowout that game. It will be a close hard fought battle like most every UGA-UF game. But keep your hopes high that way when you lose AGAIN it will hurt even worse than last year.

GT is for Nancy Boys….I loved your first post. However,if Myles had a scholarship offer from UGA and said he was not intersted, you and the rest of the UGA faithful would trash him for being the scum of the earth if he wasnt considering the Dawgs. Very much like what is done on the board on a daily basis. It is really quite sad. However, I have a news flash for you….There are other great teams in the SEC and these teams have won titles in the last 28 years!! Get over yourself.
As for the Gator fans on here…I love reading posts from UGA fans regarding the UF game. You would think that last year was the only year that game was ever played. I also find it ironic how UGA fans can say they own the series but when a UF fan brings up winning 15 our of 18, that doesnt count. I am glad I know a lot of UGA fans and know this blog is not a true representation of Dawg fans everywhere.

The roster has 102 players + 10 redshirt for 112 total. 45 players is only 40% of your team.
Unless, you are using some special “UGA math” that I am not aware of.

I really believe these scholarship atheletes need to take advantage of this gift and get that degree. Most will have two, three and if they are lucky, four years of glory. Then it is back to reality with a job, mortgages, kids and all the really fun adult resposibilities. So few make it to the next level. Grab the opportunity that is given you. No one can take that diploma away from you.

Good luck Darren with whichever school you choose. If you want to talk recent than UGA beat FL last year. If you want to talk series than GA leads the series. If you want to talk 90’s than hire spurrier back…Stop blaming Tebow’s sore shoulder as the reason you lost. Your sorry defense lost that game for you along with most of your losses…I guess if Tebow didn’t have a sore shoulder he would have played defense. The Gators lost 4? games last year not because of their offense! You couldn’t even beat Michigan, and that disgraced the SEC…See you in Jacksonville. Go Dawgs!

GatorsNationalChamps, my only question is why did it take the University of Florida almost 100 years after every other Southern school to start a football program. You are in agreement with me that there was no Florida football program prior to 1990. Before that hallowed year, just a bunch of intramural squads that would get picked to wear a uniform and get the krap kicked out of them on the field. I agree with you, prior to Steve Spurrier becoming head coach, there was no such thing as University of Florida football. And the Dawgs have been at a decided disadvantage as soon as the Gators joined the SEC in 1990. Man if we had only gotten Florida State to join instead of those dreaded swamp geckos. Oh but I guess I am just not facing reality. UF has done pretty darn good in the eighteen years that they have been playing football. Two National Championships and a host of SEC titles. Dam good for a program less than twenty years old, I daresay no other University, other than Georgia Southern, can say that. So here’s to you Gators, what a program, just imagine how great your history would be if you had started playing college football in the 1890’s like the rest of the Southern schools instead of the 1990’s. One can only imagine.

Thats right Dr. Merk. UGA has won 2 out of the last 4 and after this year’s victory the Dawgs will be 3-2 over UF in the last 5 years. The gators will never catch up in the series. The dawgs are about to start a long string of victories over the gayturds. Also why can’t you beat Auburn. You let their kicker stick it to you every year and then chomp in your faces. Lucky for you, that you don’t have that loss on your schedule this year. You will stil at least 3 games though. Due to your horrible defense and O-Line.

I bet the only reason you quit school in the third grade was cause you got drafted for Nam. Calling us bandwagon, what a riot. You are the guys who packed in 92,000 for a spring game and then went 6-6 and lost to a team with a hyphen. Calling me a loser, dude you need to try to buy a clue. When was the last time Bama finished the year in the top ten or even went to Atlanta for the SECC. Not in this century pal. So how does it feel to be the real loser, LOSER. Your football teams mascot the pachyderm has been replaced by a wolly mammoth. Why? Both Bama football and the mascot are extinct. Now go back to holding that stop sign in the road work zone. Hard to believe they give a degree for that in Tuscallossa.

Golly, Moses. You people are, by and large, like a bunch of third graders, calling each other names and using expletives hidden in code so that you won’t get caught.
First of all, I agree with LA Dawg—there is no reason to blog about things that have no relevance. Calling people “qveers” is infantile. Leave it on the playground.
Second, I don’t think anyone can dispute that Georgia and Florida are both loaded talent-wise, and that Georgia Tech is in a rebuilding mode with a new coach and a new offensive scheme. It is not impossible, but simply unlikely, that Tech will beat Georgia this year. The Jacket fans can buzz about the upset they somehow see swirling about in the crystal ball, but that is largely a pipe dream (and I use the Reuben Houston interpretation of that term!). Even with Paul Johnson—who is indeed an excellent coach—they are a few years away. And Georgia-Florida will be a war. Gatorzone, it is highly unlikely that Florida’s defense will hold Georgia to 17 points, although I suppose there could be a late hurricane or something that results in 10 lost fumbles. It is also highly unlikely that Florida will score 50 on Georgia’s defense. So your 50-17 prediction is far-fetched, to be kind.
For your information, Georgia has the HIGHEST Academic Progress rating for football in the entire SEC, according to the latest published data. Moreover, Georgia has the third-highest SAT average (after Vanderbilt and Florida) in the SEC.

Gatorchump, The 12 point margin doesn’t even begin to indicate how badly we beat you last season. UF may be a little better next season (you’d HAVE TO BE after the sick yearend performance - one of only two SEC Teams to lose in postseason - and to a lameduck coached Michigan Team) but the Dawgs are loaded. Tebow is a talented player but with a coach who uses him 20 times a game on drive zero plays - don’t whine about him being injured, blame your coach. I haven’t read Dawg fans complaining about Shockley being out & injured of the game with Joe T ALMOST winning. By the way, we’re 2 - 2 during the last four years against a team that was the National Champ and Defending National Champ.

Zeb, Hootie is out. Which is why Darth Visor does not have a membership card. Billy Payne, former Bulldawg football player is now the head honcho. I live so close to the National you can hear the roars on 18 if you are outside. I attendend my first Masters in 1963 at the ripe old age of three. I had the privledge of going in the clubhouse and players locker room and meeting Sam Snead. My father was the Augusta Chronicle photographer at the time. Since my parents got divorced two years later, I retain that memory. Beliver or don’t, I had a press pass at three years old. They must have made my Dad give it back because I do not have it today. The rules were a little looser back then.
Zeb, like most of us regulars, I only fire back when fired upon. I would rather talk football than my quarterback can beat up your quarterback. Heck I am interested in seeing if Tim Tebow, who I consider a great college qb, can keep up his level of play this year. I will talk smack for fun, unfortunately, humor plumb evades alot of people on this blog.

DAWGS, When Gator Chump, MVP (a true legend in his own mind) and the other UF and GT fans blog here it is a real compliment to our program. I truly enjoy reading their putrid blogs. We beat UF by 12 & GT by 14 - UF has essentially the same O and D lines that we poured through last year and the same coach that sacrifices his players for a chance at a win. As for GT well, who the he!! cares!
Winners always catch criticism from losers but “Only The Winner Goes To Dinner!”
By the way “Bear Bryant”, you disgrace the class with which The University of Alabama carries itself. Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and LSU have historically carried the tradition and class of the SEC. More to the point, Alabama was the Notre Dame of the south and may be again if Saban gets things rolling. We expect to read garbage from UF, UT, SC and GT fans - but to read your verbage under the name of The Great Bear Bryant is an insult to all Alabama Fans and to The Bear Himself.

I have to apologize to all the reasonable minded bloggers on here for my somewhat innapropriate comments but I have been reading these for a while and have very rarely commented. When I have commented it has always been football related until now, but jeez I just couldn’t hold back this time. I’ve got love for everybody on here and Im just trying to get one good laugh at the expense of an annoying rival, just this once.
But seriously, if only 1 in every 20 comments is actually good and informative and pertaining to the article or football in general then there will be some degeneration amongst even the most modest and articulate fans sometimes. Right? Im not condoning my personal comments or some of the idiotic responses of others, but I also dont think that anyone should take them too seriously or offensively. Its all in good fun, and if one should adopt an attitude of superiority to any other commentor then I think they, even if justified, are missing a little bit of the purpose of being here.
Just my thoughts…
Peace, Love, and Godzilla!

Zeb, Bloggers like “Quincy Carter” are the young & dumb lions that think they own they world because they believe it’s “owed” to them. We know differently - I don’t have to explain to you and doing so to QC, Gator Chump, MVP and some others would be a waste of time. For the first time in many years I saw a Bulldog Team mature with confidence at the end of a season - the majority of whom will return with the kind of depth we’ve never previously had. A tough schedule to go undeafeated through but we have the players and coaches who just might do it. By the way, Jack Black is great - but try Glenfiddich - no ice, no water - just straight. “When I drink water I drink water and when I drink scotch I drink scotch.” (Barry Fitzgerald from The Quiet Man”.

FLA DAWG, Oooooohhhhh Raaaahhhhh Devil Dawg, Semper Fi my friend. Like you and my fellow old timers on here, we understand life, not just football. Georgia is loaded with depth, but let’s not think that our brethren in the SEC are not also. I’m not going to put out stats, but I promise you…..TN, LSU, FLA, AU and Tech, yes I said Tech, are going to give us fits. But that’s OK. CMR is going to have these young guys focused and ready to kick some arse. Good luck to all of you guys and we’ll see what happens in the fall.

I dont have as many years under my belt as some of you guys but I can give a good scotch suggestion. Try Old Parr. Kinda hard to find. I found it in Panama, C.A.
On another note, Ive been to the last two coaching clinics in Athens and can tell you that the intensity has definitely picked up this year. These guys are hungry. I mean not just the players, but the coaches throwing themselves into each other and let’n each other know they got the better of them. Especially between Searels and Martinez. Those two guys can get real intense. I think we all know Garners intensity, and the play of our D-line speaks for that. That was definitely the most competitive practice field Ive ever seen.

Go to Bama! We will be winning the recruiting war again this year. Lots of teams lead last year as Georgia did but ended up only in the top ten - Bama ended up at the TOP! We are in the right direction.
You can be part of another historic championship run at Bama, which would be nuymber 13, only Notre Dame ties with Bama in tradition and National championships. Georgia has 2 - lol!
Roll Tide - I will you well young man, an dif you come runningout of Bryant Denny Stadium, I will be one of hte fans belllowing your name. Good luck with you career - you could get almost immediate playing time at Bama right now - we need defensive players.
