To Macon Dawg: Luallen completed 60% of his passes for 756 yards and 12 touchdowns with no interceptions. He rushed for 475 yards and 13 touchdowns. He is 6’ 3” and runs a 4.55 40. He also ran the 100 high hurdles and 300 hurdles. He has a 3.5 GPA and remember, he has another year of high school. A perfect fit for Georgia Tech.

No, it is actually the square root of 361 multiplied by the hypotnuse of a right triangle with legs of 112 and 104. Take that number and cube it by the surface area of Joe Hamilton’s jail cell. Add the number of times Reggie Ball beat UGA and divide by number of WR’s that left the GT program over the off season.

Yech gets a star QB recruit who passes for 800 yards and runs for 500 while UGA’s star QB recruit passes for 4000 and runs for 900. I guess that’s how you know the streak will continue.

Congrats Yech. BTW: I hear that there is a running back in Iowa who ran for 800 yards last year. Go try to get him but you’ll have to beat out Arkansas St.

A friend of mine (UGA Grad) saw that we got Jordan yesterday and he said that UGA was going to go after him if they did not land the recruit out of Tampa. Jordan must not be chopped liver if your coaching staff was ready and willing to go after him.

I would like to thank all of you Tech fans for welcoming me to the south. I already feel at home. For all of the doubters out there you can rest assured that I will have no problem transfering my skills from an all girl High School football team to GT. I have already seen some of the similarities from my high school team to my future team at GT. My center is about the same size as the center that I will be lining up under on the plains! My current centers name is Andrea and we are best friends. I just hope CPJ is as open to carrying tampons in the first aid kit as my current coach is.

So now we’re hearing, after having a fully-qualified class in 2007 (the first in recent memory), that at least one of Richt’s 2008 signees will have to have his name pinned to his shirt and be shipped off to Brain Transplant U (aka Hargrave) since he won’t meet the NCAA minimums to enroll in Athens and begin work on his 2nd HS diploma.

UGA…..where yet another season rolls around every summer for fans to anxiously enjoy….

Wow…Why hasn’t Purdue and ND offered this kid? Well probably because they run pass first offenses and Jordan runs the wing-T. Just maybe?

The puppy dawgs and seminoles are the only schools in the country that celebrate after dui arrest. What do they have in common other than my footprint on their butts? woof once if you think it is that classy leader of men with such high moral and academic standards.
Tech may not be very good (Paul may help), but aren’t they part of that crushing non conference schedule the pups play? GA Southern, Western Something, Arizona State (this years superbowl favorite) and Tech? Wow, the 67 Packers would be 6-6 with that schedule. See you in September, maybe one of your heisman candidates can score a touchdown this year ha ha ha.

I’m convinced most of the UGA fans don’t actually watch the GT-UGA games. It’s the only way to explain why they think they have actually dominated us.

The past few games have been very, very close, and in the past two years they were literally handed touchdowns (one leading to a victory for UGA) by officials. Last year’s game was very competitive until our o-line fell apart in the last quarter (it happens, we didn’t have the depth we needed). Not to mention we shut down your little golden boy (although could not fully get a handle on Brown, oh well).

There are d-bag fans on either side, but you UGA fans are being absolutely ridiculous. I’m not quite sure how you can actually enjoy football by the way some of you are acting.

Enough already! I bleed red and black and spent the best years of my life in Athens, but I’m Georgia born and bred and have a lot of good friends that are Tech fans. Truth be told, most of you do too. Both schoools are academically excellent and both field good football teams. Heck, I’ll even root for Tech occasionally. A little good natured razzing is OK, but truth be told, both Tech and UGA have some jerks for fans. I just wish we’d keep the blog razzing in good taste and steer clear of this crap.

i am not a tech fan. in fact, i despise both tech and uga. but paul johnson is one helluva a football coach. he is one of those rare coaches that can beat your team with his team, and then, if he wanted, he could take your players and beat his team. he’s that smart. mark my words. he will win. give him a little bit of talent to work with and he will win alot. i’d be willing to bet he beats uga twice in the next 5 years. at least.

i am not a tech fan. in fact, i despise both tech and uga. but paul johnson is one helluva a football coach. he is one of those rare coaches that can beat your team with his team, and then, if he wanted, he could take your players and beat his team. he’s that smart. mark my words. he will win. give him a little bit of talent to work with and he will win alot. i’d be willing to bet he beats uga twice in the next 5 years. at least.

Jordan was next on UGA’s list if they didn’t land Murray, look it up. Also I seriously doubt there is a big difference in the #10 ranked QB and #15 ranked QB. Either one could move up or down after their senior year anyways. Tech got a good one, congrats.

I’d say his stats are pretty TOP NOTCH for a kid that plays for a coach who runs a wing-t offense. If you put Jordan up against Mett or Murray with all other factors being equal (i.e. type of offense and other players) I guarantee he looks better than them. He was Scout.com Army All American All Combine QB, Nike Training Camp All Combine QB (Baton Rouge), Scout.com 7 v. 7 All Combine QB, and Scout.com All Combine QB (Cincinnati). Four All Combine QB MVP awards in a row and he’s 6’4” 210 and runs a 4.55 40 yard dash. Mett was at the Army Combine. He WILL lead Tech to a victory over uga before he graduates.

I have to agree with an earlier post. The numbers are not very impressive for his ranking. About 70 miles north fom Atlanta there is a QB who is an honor graduate this year, ran a spread option offense, ran and passed for over 1000 yards each the last 2 years. CPJ had him up for a visit to Navy last year, and had him near the top of his wish list, but I have seen no interest this year.

Actually, the 3 QB’s we were recruiting were Mettenberger, Murray and Savage. The Luallen kid has never been mentioned…if we did target him, it would have been as a fall back option, not a first choice. Good to see Tech is getting our scraps even out of state these days. He is not ranked in the top 10 dual threat qb’s on Rivals.com, is on the watch list only for ESPN. The only service that has him rated highly is Scouts.

Logan Gray will be a sophomore when he starts and Murray and Mettenberger will get RS. So, the first time they are eligible to play, Gray will be a junior. I imagine they will take the same approach DJ took with Greene, or, the approach Stafford took with JT3…Wait for junior years to play or win the job from Gray.

Luallen, glad that you decided to come to GTech. Sorry that I won’t be around to tutor you like I did my homeboys Kelly, Stephon, Reuben and, my favorite QB, Reggie in Dope Smoking 101. You see I recently lost my job as a football coach at age 32 for drinking and smoking weed while driving. You will love it here. This school even created a degree for me so I could claim I got my edumaction from here after 8 years. I was really one of the ineligible athletes that caused GTech to forfeit games. When Coach O’Leary was here, he never made me or my teammates go to class. Instead, he just had the registrar falsify academic records so we could stay eligible. Coach O’Leary had problems with the truth himself cause he lied on his resume about playing college ball. Anyway, we lie, cheat, toke and steal and still can’t beat Georgia. Maybe we will have better luck with you and Jaybo.

Good job Tech. Just getting started with six top recruits so far. Anyone need to see how deligent these recruiting guys are check out ESPN.com and see who is considering Tech. This kid is suppose to be really good. Tech will need at least 3 qb’s game ready and another 3 in the wings in this offense. Effectiveness in this offense seem to be the key. If we throw 25 times omplete 60% and then score 3 td’s in the air to go with the running game this offense will be explosive.

DEAR ERK AND OTHERS: Here’s the deal. Ranking high school prospects is a distinctly inexact science. Just go back and look at the rankings for the past 15 years and what these guys actually achieved in colllege. Duh! Got it?

Luallenn may or may not be the real deal for GT. I don’t know and you certainly don’t. My 17 years of high school coaching taught me this: for every “five star” pro-style passer there are 10 great option QB’s. Do the math. It isn’t calculus.

So now we’re hearing, after having a fully-qualified class in 2007 (the first in recent memory), that at least one of Richt’s 2008 signees will have to have his name pinned to his shirt and be shipped off to Brain Transplant U (aka Hargrave) since he won’t meet the NCAA minimums to enroll in Athens and begin work on his 2nd HS diploma.

From ESPN… Luallen is a sleeper quarterback in this class all because he does not have the luxuries of playing in a wide open scheme and developing a ton of stats as many other QB’s in this class have. He has great size, is a wonderful athlete and shows excellent speed and quickness for the position. He is a runner first right now because this scheme, a version of the Wing-T does not afford him the opportunities to develop as a passer, but that will come. He is very creative and he has the makings of an excellent spread QB because he can run it and he is tough and he is familiar with veer and option principles. Rarely gets dropback opportunities in the passing game and is always throwing on the move as a run/pass dual-threat on the perimeter. Is a very good roll-out passer to each side and will square his shoulders and throw with power on the move. Is asked to make some difficult throws as he is often naked off play-action and throwing with people in his face. Shows adequate-to-good arm strength and in time will be capable of making all the necessary college throws. His legs really make him a weapon along with his size. He is well built and deceptively quick and fast. Shows some explosiveness and elusiveness as a runner in the open field and possesses the speed to go the distance if he breaks into the second level. Will lower his shoulder and get the tough yards. Shows good leadership and intangibles. Right now Luallen is behind in terms of the passing game and experience in any type of pro-style scheme as a dropback guy. Will need to catch up in the passing game, but he is heady and competitive and a hard worker and the learning curve should not be too drastic. Delivery is quick, but must develop consistent throwing mechanics. Overall, Luallen is athletic and makes plays and would be getting more attention in a more pass-happy scheme. I actually know 3 UGA grads that are decent human beings, but some people would think Charles Manson was also. From reading the blogs posted here, I think most of the UGA grads are stupid and cold-heartd SOBs that worked on a GED for five years after they dropped out of the 7th grade. Quiet frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn what you think. I do know that you have to win 2 more football games to own the record.

Mettenberger SUKS!! Can YOU say OVERRATED!!??!! Can YOU say Overly-Cocky for NO GOOD REASON??? My advice to UGA fans; stop talking about your 2 QB’s - stick to bragging about the one GOOD QB that you got from Florida. :)

There are other great QB’s in Georgia that are getting overlooked by Scout.com due to politics so maybe you should all stop looking at the Scout rankings as the gospel and look the the kids’ overall potential (of which ZM has none…)

And by the way, I am not a UGA or Tech superfan - I like to see both Teams win (more UGA) but being new to the recruiting scene I am feeling the pressure and possibly some hater-ation.

That said, it’s hard to deny these sorry-azz stats: Mettenberger threw 10TD and 9INTs last year to go along with 1300 yards passing. Oh, and by the way, Oconee County is 8-13 over the last two years. Mettenberger SUKS!!

Tobigdaddy, even you should understand this,Mettenberger has 5 stars behind his name and also the word “PROSPECT”. So do all the other young men that may or may not play football or basketball for one school or the other. You could be right, this guy could be another Quincey Carter. Guess we will have to wait and see. Mettenberger, sounds German. Didn’t we already kick their a$$ once before?

On this memorial day weekend, I am so proud that many young men fought to insure that your sorry a$$ would have the freedom to critize anything and everything you choose. Sounding off in the blogs is called “freedom of speech”, but I have serious reservations that this is was our founding fathers ment when they were protecting our rights. At any rate, have a safe holiday and if you must travel, be sure to have a designated driver.

All I have to say is this: show me where Mettenberger EARNED his rank/stars… Show me some great film… what about stats… hey, didn’t he make all-state? NOOO! The kid was given his rank/stars based on who he knows - it is just that obvious!! If he was anybody else in GA with the same stats and a mom that worked anyplace other than UGA he would get no props - and you know it!! That’s why I say stop putting so much stock in the Scout stars.

Again, show me (with facts) why he is so highly ranked and I will shut up… Now the FL QB - that’s a great catch!!

Zach mettenberger—2 offers, UGA & FSU.1333 yd passing-10TDs—NINE INTs.-Mother ran interference for him in UGA FB office. Would be a good catch for Valdosta State, Ga. Southern or West Ga. Going to have to ride the pine behind Logan Gray, Murray at UGA.

It’s crazy to believe that Johnson’s system at Tech won’t attract top notch talent. Why wouldn’t a kid want to play in a system that’s gonna rack up yardage in a major conference? Wicked stats in a major conference = Heismen consideration. I suspect we’ll see a couple of really good running backs in this recruiting class too.

Within 3 years PJ will have all of the UGA fans and there “fake” 5 star prospects crying for mercy…UGA will be 8-4 this year, thanks to the “two cream puffs” they play..Urban & Lou can’t wait to pummel the mutts… tjs
