Henry County QB looking to impress recruiters
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
On the heels of a successful outing at the Nike camp in Tuscaloosa last weekend, Henry County quarterback Drew Little is primed for the start of spring practice on Monday.
A large number of college football scouts are expected to visit Henry County over the next couple of weeks to get a glimpse of Little, highly-touted wide receiver Jamal Patterson and several of their teammates.
“These past couple of weeks everybody has been through to talk to me, Jamal and some other guys who are prospects,” said Little, whose stellar performance in Tuscaloosa earned him an invitation to a Nike seven-on-seven camp in Oregon in July.
The 6-foot-6, 240-pound Little has reason to believe a scholarship offer from an SEC program could arrive soon.
“I’d say after Kentucky comes down next week, I could be close to an offer from them,” he said.
Even with postseason baseball action set to begin this weekend at Henry County, Little intends to participate in both sports next week, and beyond, if necessary.
“I’ve worked it out with my baseball coach,” Little said. “I’ll go to baseball practice [for an abbreviated workout] then go straight to football practice.
“Last week, I started a baseball game on Friday night and went to football camp the next day. It’s tough on your arm sometimes, but you just work through it.”
Little has set a personal goal during spring football drills.
“I’ve really been working on improving my footwork a lot,” he said. “As big and as mobile as I am, I still need to be able to move from tackle to tackle and avoid defenders.”

Poor Georgia Toke supporters. Their tiny little world is crumbling around them. Let’s examine shall we:
Campus: No brainer. Athens all the way. Idyllic setting with a great bar and music seen. Viewed as one of the best college towns in the nation.
Women: Please. No debate here.
Total person concept: Not so much. see “Smokin” Joe Hamilton (an assistant coach no less. Say it ain’t so Joe. Besides have you met a more bitter group of people? I certainly have not. Also see Reuben Houston.
Football: We all know this story.
Wait, we all know Georgia Toke is a far superior institution of higher learning. To quote Lee Corso “Not so fast my friend” http://www.forbes.com/opinions/forbes/2008/0519/030_4.html
Ouch, I’m sure this one hurts the most. Can’t even best UGA in quality of education. So much for, yeah, but you’ll be working for us someday.
Let me take a gander at your next argument. You rednecks have all kinds of redneck fans that never went to the school. Did you ever stop to think that maybe noone roots for Georgia Toke because your fans are so whiny and carry such a chip on their shoulder?
Don’t worry guys all is not lost. I am looking for some very capable graduates from Georgia Toke to come work for me. I take my coffee black.

Good luck impressing the recruiters. Most importantly, GET OUT OF HENRY COUNTY. Better yet, GET OUT OF GEORGIA. This whole state sucks.

As much as I would like to poke some fun at Mr Hamilton, I just can,t bring myself to do it. The more I thought about it; I am just going to pass on this one. Life will never be the same for him around here anymore, so sad.

Poor:
Most McDonalds managers do not tell their staff how they like their coffee - they get it themselves.
Plus, you obviously are new to the computer there in the double wide:
1) not figuring out that double post thing.
2) it’s “scene”, not “seen”. “Seen” is used as follows: “Most of the UGA students are SEEN at those campus bars instead of in the classroom, especially UGA athletes.”

Personally, I wish Drew and Jamal the best, no matter where they choose to continue their football careers. They are both fine young men, fine athletes, and much better examples of quality individuals than a most of you posters.
Congratulations to the both of you for all of your hard work on, and off, the playing field. You have done your families proud.

I watched Henry County last season in the playoffs. Drew will definitely needs to improve his footwork to be an SEC Caliber QB. NO doubting his arm strength, it is there. Henry County plays from the shotgun 90% of the time which helps Drew because he gets rid of the ball quickly and does not have to move around that much in their offense. He is a Jared Lorenzen clone if there ever was one. He is tough to bring down because he is so big and he had/has some great WR to throw to at HC. His lack of mobility, speed and footwork are what will hold him back but I am sure he is motivated to work on these things. Good luck to him in the future and Kentucky would seem to be a good fit.

To the commenter with a large inferiority complex because his degree from UGA is terrible,
There is help for you yet. If ranking colleges based on bar scene and women, you sure do take the cake. Unfortunately, most outside of Athens go to college for an education, or as you may call it, edu-ma-cation.
Your selection of rankings is also ridiculous. All I need to point out is that Alabama (#7), Georgia (#10), TAMU (#11), and SUNY-Binghampton (#16) are in that list’s top ten, and everyone will know that the rankings are bogus. Alabama and Georgia, seriously? I know of no one other than you who would make a claim that your school in Athens is better than Georgia Tech.
I also question your claim on the bitterness of Tech fans. If we’re the bitter ones, why do you take time out of your day (between sweeping and mopping) to visit another school’s site and berate that school’s fans?

Didn’t Georgia Tech just land their first 5 star recruit? The West Bank Times Piqayune is reporting that Raheed ali-Akbar, the 4’ 2” punter out of Hamas High is going to join Tech’s illustrious 2009 recruiting class.

Georgia Tech fans bitter? Of course not. They just throw things on the field during a nationally televised broadcast of their joke football team as part of an experiment for physics class. It has nothing to do with them getting pounded 10 feet into the turf and totally humiliated by Boston College. Bitter? Don’t make me laugh.

To Poor Uninformed Techies Funny Post. Pretty much game, set and match. However, as an old Ga. So. grad I think the reason that there are many supporters of UGA teams which did not attend UGA is that the school seems to make efforts to represent the entire state of Georgia. Tech simply seems the be the school from Atlanta and never attempts to be inclusive to the state’s peoples.

OK A* wipes from Athens; leading the SEC in student athlete drinking arrest. Why don’t you get off our blog! Athens, GA, home of 52 bars within stumbling distance of Campus.History, Technology, Society degree, that is so popular with our fine student athletes? I’ll take that over your degree in “Food Science” any day. I’m sure that school would get you a job at either Taco Bell or The Waffles House. Heck, you might even work your way up to assistant mananger at Denny’s someday.

The horror!

Tech Guys, just be quiet and let the red necks talk. They have never thought they could be beaten by GT, and when they were, they blamed the officials. Their 7-0 record is only a record to them. 8-0 is the record and they will have to win one to tie and 2 to break the record, but since they cannot count, they will never know if they broke or tied the record.
