Auburn likely to offer Calhoun DT
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Categories
ACC and SEC schools continue to inquire about Calhoun junior defensive tackle Eric McDaniel.
“He’s getting a lot of interest,” Calhoun coach Hal Lamb said Wednesday evening. “I think there’s a couple of schools that are close to offering, like Alabama, Auburn and Clemson.
“Georgia Tech called about him this week. But Auburn is probably the closest to offering.”
McDaniel (6-foot-2, 297-pounds), who recently attended junior day at Alabama, has been invited to visit Louisville.
“He’s got lots of potential,” Lamb said. “To be honest, we’re probably playing him out of position.
“He’ll play nose guard for us this year. He’s a big, strong kid who plays hard.”
Two of McDaniel’s teammates, offensive linemen David Clemons (6-2, 275-pounds) and Rhett Jackson (6-2, 275-pounds), will likely receive scholarship offers later this year.
“There’s a bunch of schools wanting tape on them,” Lamb said.

Vandy, you obviously know nothing about Auburn…do some research before spouting off that kind of inaccurate garbage.
And Dawg, how is Auburn in serious decline? We’ve won 50 games in 5 years…we have a bunch of starters back and it will come down to AU and LSU again in the West. Geez UGA wins a couple of games in a row vs. AU and you’d think we were owned…check the series record. Looking forward to this year’s game.

Based on my research Auburn is indeed in a major decline.I look for them to win 6 or 7 this year. They are running a similar offense that the Nerds are trying to run.It want work in the SEC.I CANT wait for my boys to put a whipping on those punks.

SweetHomeAlabama what research are you basing your comments off of, The Tuscaloosa News?! I would say Bama is in a decline, but they do not have any where to go but up. UGA fan lets be honest here, I’m glad the UGA looks to be poised for a big year, but if you say AU doesn’t make you nervous then you are lying to yourself. Good luck anyway.

It is not easy being a Bama fan.We will always be the team to beat and we are penciled in everyones schdule as a must win.I think everyone needs to worry more about their own shcool, leave the Tide out of it. PS I am going to get another Roll Tide bumper sticker for my truck ,just to show you nuts we are for real.

sweet home, it’s penciled in as a must-win because if your team can’t beat bama, then you are in trouble. Auburn has you guys penciled in as a win always. Bama has become irrelevant in the SEC. It’s Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, Mississippi State/Ole Miss then you guys in the West. A team that loses to La-Monroe has a loooong way to go. Good luck. Go for 6 wins again this year.

How is it that every time some nice comment is made about some young men about to receive some wonderful news about an athletic scholarship offer turns into this kind of drivel?
Why don’t all of you take your name calling elsewhere and let them enjoy their well-deserved accolades?
Congratulations Eric, David, Rhett, and Coach Lamb. Keep up the great work.

come to Auburn and learn to play in mediocrity for the next 3 to 4 years.learn that tubs is just thinking about himself and not you.he will put his name in the hat for other programs to get more money.i live in auburn and work with tiger alumni.true auburn fans are not happy with him.beating alabama every year is not what it once was

jayjay…you live on ajc.com and you have nothing other to say than the words “mediocrity” and “next 3 to 4 years” anytime anything about Auburn is written. You are crazy to call any top 10 team mediocre. UGA is good, Auburn is good…put it at that. No one cares that you live in Auburn and know alumni. Every team has their problems and I’d put the problem of JAY JACOBS as the #1 thing hurting our team. Assuming Kodi Burns starts from the beginning, both UGA and Auburn will be in the SEC Championship (the real National Championship game) with the winner going to the National Championship. I don’t expect either of our teams to lose over 2 games.

Im pinning my hopes on Burns as much as y’all are on Knowshon…Our defenses are equal. We have more depth at RB though. The 1st game will be a toss up with the loser of that game winning the SEC championship in my opinion

I am a true AU fan and alumnus. I also have three children that are alumni. I am damn proud that we have Coach Tuberville and beating Bammer every year is wonderful. AU is and always has been a great school. A friend who is also an alumnus is from Florida. He told me the reason he went to AU was he had negver met anyone who went to AU that didn’t love AU.

Bruce-
That is a crock! I went to Auburn for a year before transferring to UGA. There are plenty of freshman that cannot stand the campus and wish they had picked another school. It is the most redneck city I have ever been to and wish never to go back. Regarding football it’s really funny because at UGA we talk about UGA but Auburn all they talked about was Alabama. Chris

Jayjay,
Why are you such a hater? Nobody cares that you live in Auburn. You are one of thousands that always claims to have insider information. Your points are always pointless and you always validate them with “I live in Auburn.”
Winning 8 or 9 games every year and beating Bama and UGA at least every other year are perfectly acceptable. Speckle in a SHOT at a National Title every 10 years or so and that’s Auburn Football. 1957, 1963, 1972, 1983, 1993, 2004, and so on… Any other expectations for any SEC school are ridiculous.
Congrats on living in such a great city. Been to Byron’s BBQ lately??

AU will have the best D in the SEC this year. IF our offense comes through and can put up some points, I look for AU to be in Atlanta come early December..
