North Gwinnett QB lands first offer

Mike Tamburo, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound left-handed junior quarterback for North Gwinnett, has received his first scholarship offer.

“Tulsa has offered,” Tamburo said late Tuesday. “And Central Florida and South Florida are close to offering.

“And there are a lot of other schools real interested, like Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, Clemson, Oklahoma State, SMU and Alabama. Tennessee, Auburn and South Carolina want me to come to camp.”

Tamburo has visited Central Florida, South Florida and attended Georgia’s spring game during the past 11 days.

Once quarterback Aaron Murray of Plant Senior High in Tampa, Fla. chooses a school, several programs will likely call on Tamburo.

“Everybody has offered Aaron Murray,” Tamburo said. “After that, I’m the next person in line at a lot of schools.”

Tamburo, who is on spring break this week, hopes to visit several campuses in the upcoming days.

“I’m considering going to Texas Tech, SMU, Oklahoma State and Tulsa,” he said. “I may take a flight out there later this week.”

If the Dawgs don’t offer you, we don’t care…

geoffdawg, that’s about as classless a comment that I have heard on these blogs. My guess is that if you asked Coach Richt, he would agree. The next time he speaks at a FCA function, ask him.

geoffdawg, grow up. We’re talking about 18 year old kids making one of the biggest decisions of their life. Only a looser would have something negative to say about a kid making a college decision. I would agree with the above post, Mark Rict would be ashamed; especially since his own kid went to Clemson. Does that mean we don’t care about him either!

He beat my kid’s school like a drum last year. UGA would be proud to have him, although I don’t think they have room for a QB in this year’s class. Good luck, young man. You’ll do fine in major conference ball.

The great thing about the internet is it makes weak-minded idiots like geoffdawg into such an expert.

Mike, I saw you in a few games last year. You look very poised on and off the field. No doubt in my mind that tyu will do well on the next level. If the chips fall the right way and you get an offer from UGA, I for one would be very glad if you decided to go to Athens. Good luck where ever you decide to go.

Remove Texas Tech from the list. He doesn’t have to arm to compete with the QB’s they have running that offense. Why do you think Stafford came to Georgia?

What’s the freakin’ get up about this kid? He’s mediocre at best. He should take that one (1) offer and commit. Get it in your head Tamburo, “UGA doesn’t want you!” The only reason that your 5’10” 165lb. BB gun arm butt is known is because of your daddy! Also, please don’t respond to my comment because just as my screen name tells you, this is just my opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m hoping that UGA offers this kid. I have seen him play and he really impresses me. He is a faster version of David Greene. This kid is a winner. When he takes the field, people follow him. If he lands at another school, I will remain a fan of his. This is a great kid that has a great future ahead of him.

Tamburo is the kind of the kid that had to work for everything he has when it comes to playing football. I love that kind of Kid and if UGA doesn’t get him, the will definitely see him later in a bowl game. Go out west Young man. UGA ain’t the world….Texas could use you and the last time I checked they had won the title… lol
