Georgia receives commitment from defensive lineman

Abry Jones, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound junior defensive end for Northside, Warner Robins, formally announced on Saturday that he has accepted a scholarship offer from Georgia.

“I told [recruiting coordinator] coach [Rodney] Garner that I was committed to Georgia, and he was very excited,” Jones told Scout.com.

“Coach Garner has been reminding me that I am their top guy at my spot for some time.”

Jones had also been considering Clemson and Miami.

It is great to get the # 2 player in the state and one of the top DL in the nation. The Dawgs are building a dynasty.

Awesome pickup.. The talent already in this recruiting class is freaking terrific. UGA gets one of the best rbs in the country in ealey, they have the best dlinemen in georgia, chase vasser who was voted best player at a recent nike camp, dexter moody the most upside of any player in georgia, zach mett who had a great 7 on 7 camp and will be a top 10 qb by next year’s signing class, shawn williams a hard hitting safety, and chris burnette a beast inside.

CMR is building a dynasty. It’s not a fluke that FSU declined after he left. Like I said in an earlier post, when he goes to Iraq I hope to God they have a whole division guarding him.

He is a good pickup for the dawgs. Im an Auburn fan, but Jones seems like a great player. Only thing on him is that he didn’t have many offers yet for some reason…he has the talent to be great one day.

And zinoDawg, I know what you mean about when our coaches (Tommy is going too) go to the Middle East…they better be guarded heavily.

GFED 2008 - Abry had a lot of full scholarship offers, every MAJOR SEC school including Auburn, Clemson, U of Miami, FSU, NC State, Minnesota, Rutgers, Stanford, and even a military academy… UGA is just the best choice. Not trying to brag but a mother must speak up sometimes.

Congrats on yet another Eagle spreading his wings. Make all of the NHS family proud by doing all the right things for yourself. Keep your eyes on the real prize….a college education. Never forget that no matter how much you bleed red & black in college, your blood will always run TRU BLU!!!
