Lassiter tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen attended Auburn’s spring game on Saturday. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound junior was so impressed he decided to take another tour of Auburn’s campus today.
“I was just down here on Saturday,” Lutzenkirchen said by phone Wednesday evening. “I decided to come back.”
Highlights of the visits included spending about 15 minutes chatting with Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville.
“I love this place,” Lutzenkirchen said. “The atmosphere is great. I really like the campus and everything about the football tradition and they have good academics.
“I really like it down here.”
Lutzenkirchen was impressed with the fan support he witnessed at Auburn’s spring game last weekend.
“I’d say there were about 40,000 people there,” he said. “Even on the short plays, the crowd was going wild. They’ve got a good fan base.”
Lutzenkirchen, who holds scholarship offers from Auburn, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Stanford and Troy, is leaning toward the Tigers and Jackets.
“But I really haven’t made any decision yet,” he said. “I really like Georgia Tech too.”
Lutzenkirchen is scheduled to visit Virginia Tech on Friday before attending Clemson’s spring game the following day.
