Perry coach: ‘Bama, Gators ahead of UGA for star OG

Based on Perry coach Andy Scott’s description of his junior guard, there’s little reason to wonder why schools such Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, South Carolina and Tennessee have extended scholarship offers to Johnnie Farms.

“He’s just a dominating offensive lineman who will maul a defensive lineman,” Scott said. “He squats over 500 pounds, benches around 400 and is a physical specimen. He can physically dominate people.

“He has got a tremendous motor. He plays hard, from snap to the echo of the whistle.”

The Crimson Tide and Gators appear to be the co-favorites to score a commitment from Farms.

“I think there’s a good amount of interest [in the Dogs] with him being a Georgia boy, but if I had to say right now it would come down to Alabama and Florida,” Scott said.

The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Farms will likely wait until the fall to commit.

“I think he enjoys the recruiting process,” Scott said. “I think he wants to make the absolute best decision he can. He studies it, looks at internet sites and looks at depth charts.

“He’s gone through just about every junior day and gone to a lot of unofficial visits. He even took an unofficial visit to Notre Dame.

“It will be a shock to me if he didn’t wait until September or October to commit. He’s already marked his calendar. There are quite a few good football games he wants to see first before he makes a decision.”

Maybe he will get a phone call from Teebow when he wakes up every morning from now til signing day. Or maybe an Alabama booster will give him a big payout and Fulmer will turn them in again.

I think he knows he will best be served by staying in Ga. He will be out of althetics for most of his life and staying in Ga will mean a lot to him during that time.

lets see, If I had a son, would I want him so spend 5 years with Richt, Meyer, or Saban. if only all decisions were that easy.

I concur with David. However - I might offer the chance to dance at the National Championship game as an extra incentive for the next 3-4 years. Go Dawgs.

If he is a top recruit the rules require that he go to UGA. Nothing ever happens after that but he still must play or ride the pine in Athens.

Lets see you cgros you have to offer dancing at the national championship game the next three or four years. How can you promise that you punk since it has now been 28 years since that happened. Were you even born the last time the fake A$$ dawgs won the NC??? Just curious! So how can you promise what you have never seen? SO any recruit who really wants to see a NC or Heismam should come to UF and not a school living on HW # #34 dreams of the past!!!!

Los Angeles in 2010??? more recruits

Picking the 3 schools is hard. Florida is a great school to party and chase the girls. Georgia good school and better coach than Florida’s coach. Richt nice man and can trust want it says. Alabama good school to play football, football, football only thing we Bama fans care about. Coach Saban will get the best out of you and will get you to class!! Hard to choose between the schools!!! ROLL TIDE!!

I agree with the comment that staying in Ga can turn in to long term benefits. CMR is great to play for and the fan base is loyal and will help players after graduation. Have fun with your choice process. I love it when all good players stay in their home state and play football.

Good luck to this young man whatever he chooses. However, for the life of me, I cannot figure out why anyone from the state of Georgia would not want to go to Georgia, unless he is just desperate to leave home for 4 years. In this case, going from Perry Ga to Gainesville FL or T-town AL is not exactly the same as going to Big Ten country or to Los Angeles. Seems to me like if he is going to stay in the South, he mind as well go to the in-state power. Especially when (at the very least), UGA is on par with Florida and Alabama as a program. Oh well, as I said, good luck to him whatever he does.

Corey,

Actually you Georgia fans kill me. In a weak year of college football last season, you guys still haven’t stopped crowing about your two-loss, self-proclaimed national championship season.

As a South Georgia resident, I am a fan of the SEC but I am sick and tired of all the band-wagon jumping Georgia fans who just a few years ago were Florida State or Auburn fans. It seems being a Georgia fan is in style right now.

Georgia fans love to talk about how obnoxious Florida, Tennessee, Auburn and Alabama fans are when in actuality, they need to look no further than the self-proclaimed national champions of 2009.

According to this blog, there is no need to play the 2009 season because Georgia has already won the national title. I can hardly wait for the Bulldogs to lose so I can see what excuse you Georgia fans come up with.

Got 12? We do…in fact, since 1925, the ONLY decades Alabama did not win a national championship were the ’50s and the 80s! Don’t forget, we still have a couple of years in this decade for the cream to rise.

Here we go with the bammers and their “We got 12 NCs” BS. Give me a break. The NCAA recognizes 6 NCs for Bama and that is extremely generous. They have earned only two NCs in the modern college football era unanimously.

Every school in our conference and their respective states have home grown players that go elsewhere. It happens. I don’t like Bama boys going to be vols or dogs or gators, but they do sometimes, and it too is part of college football. It cuts the deepest when their cuts win games.

Grow up. Enjoy the ones you get and we will too. Especially when we steal them from our neighbors.

One other thing, about the Tide and their twelve, and the NCAA. Check their records, they’ve got us with 17. We only claim twelve and that’s not even mentioning 1966, the greatest injustice in college football history. See y’all on the field. Roll Tide.
