Four offers and counting for Sandy Creek’s Lane

Sandy Creek junior speed merchant Braxton Lane has scholarship offers from Central Florida, Indiana, Kentucky and Mississippi State.

And that list is expected to grow for the talented 6-foot, 185-pound receiver.

“He does a lot of things really good,” Sandy Creek coach Chip Walker said. “But the biggest thing that jumps out his is speed. He ran a 4.31 [in the 40] in [Scout.com’s] combine as a sophomore.

“He catches the ball and runs good routes. He’s physical enough that, after catching the ball, people have a hard time tackling him. When the ball is in he air, he goes after it.”

Lane is scheduled to travel to Orlando this weekend for junior day on Saturday at Central Florida.

“He went to Georgia Tech’s junior day and has been invited to Georgia’s junior day,” Walker said. “And he went on a visit last year during the season to Clemson.

“He’s getting contacts from everyone. Even Oregon is requesting film on him.”

Other Sandy Creek juniors to watch include defensive end Brandon Putnam (6-foot-3, 235) who attended Tech’s junior day and quarterback Rio Johnson (6-foot-3, 185-pounds) who attended junior day at Alabama.

Nebraska, Southern Miss offer Moore

Clayton Moore, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound junior quarterback for Louisville (Miss.) High, picked up a scholarship offer from Nebraska on Wednesday. He already had an offer from Southern Miss.

And Moore is near the top of Ole Miss and Texas Tech’s recruiting boards.

“I called the receivers coach at Texas Tech the other night,” Moore said. “I had gotten word that they’re interested in me.

“And I’ve gone on three unofficial visits to Ole Miss. I had a one-on-one meeting with [Ole Miss] coach [Houston] Nutt about three weeks ago.

“I’m getting a bunch of letters from ACC schools, like FSU, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia. And I just got one from Illinois.”

Don’t look for Moore to commit in the near future.

“I’m just going to sit back and see what happens,” he said.

Two ACC programs recruiting South Paulding’s Graham

North Carolina and Wake Forest are beginning to show interest in South Paulding junior quarterback Chase Graham.

“I’ve received letters from both of those schools,” Graham said.

The 6-foot, 175-pound Graham, who is still waiting on his first scholarship offer, is participating in a winter sport to stay in top condition.

“I’m running track,” said Graham, who is on pace to be a three-year football starter for South Paulding when his senior season arrives. “I primarily focus on the 100 and 200 [meters].”

Graham, who plans to major in pre-law or political science, said his dream offer would be one from Georgia.

He hopes several colleges will take note of his highlight film.

“We’re about 50-50 in terms of running the ball compared to passing,” he said. “We run some in the shotgun and spread it out sometimes, usually with two wideouts sitting there.”
