Four offers and counting for Sandy Creek’s Lane

Sandy Creek junior speed merchant Braxton Lane has scholarship offers from Central Florida, Indiana, Kentucky and Mississippi State.

And that list is expected to grow for the talented 6-foot, 185-pound receiver.

“He does a lot of things really good,” Sandy Creek coach Chip Walker said. “But the biggest thing that jumps out his is speed. He ran a 4.31 [in the 40] in [Scout.com’s] combine as a sophomore.

“He catches the ball and runs good routes. He’s physical enough that, after catching the ball, people have a hard time tackling him. When the ball is in he air, he goes after it.”

Lane is scheduled to travel to Orlando this weekend for junior day on Saturday at Central Florida.

“He went to Georgia Tech’s junior day and has been invited to Georgia’s junior day,” Walker said. “And he went on a visit last year during the season to Clemson.

“He’s getting contacts from everyone. Even Oregon is requesting film on him.”

Other Sandy Creek juniors to watch include defensive end Brandon Putnam (6-foot-3, 235) who attended Tech’s junior day and quarterback Rio Johnson (6-foot-3, 185-pounds) who attended junior day at Alabama.

Braxton come to Tiger Town. You’ll be a star the second you get to campus. And we’ll keep you out of jail unlike that school in Athens.

Jail is rapidly becoming a part of the college experience. At least the bonding office.

Tommy…why would I want to go live in cow fields, where students live in double wides, where people roll trees with toilet paper? This doesn’t sound like much fun to me. If cow tipping is what you call a fun time…then let me go to a real college town in Athens.

Sweet Home: Clemson may be like Auburn with a lake (to quote L. Grizzard), but it’s hardly a ‘nerd’ school. You got it right for Tech, however.

Braxton, talk about calling the kettle black. Athens and Clemson look pretty much the same to me. Only Clemson got some explaining to do to the NCAA I think.
