Coach: ‘They’re going to love’ Uzzi at Tech

Chamblee offensive lineman Omoregie Uzzi said he felt at home at Georgia Tech, which is why Wednesday morning he committed to attending college there.

Uzzi, an AJC Super Southern 100 selection, signed with the Yellow Jackets at a ceremony at his school. He selected Tech over Virginia and Alabama.

“I just really think I can do great things at Tech,” said Uzzi, who helped lead the Bulldogs to the Class AAA state semifinals this past season. “I felt like I was at home when I got there. Not because it’s Atlanta, but because I feel comfortable with the guys.”

Virginia made a late charge for Uzzi.

“I think it’s a great school,” Uzzi said of Virginia, “but I want to be at Tech.”

Uzzi said he will try to start classes at Tech in June. He will also have something of a head start as Chamblee runs a triple-option offense similar to the scheme that new coach Paul Johnson operates.

Chamblee coach Jim Showfety said he has been told that Tech’s coaches would like to move the 6-foot-3, 305-pound Uzzi from offensive tackle to guard.

“I think he’s just going to do a great job,” Showfety said. “He is probably one of the most special players I’ve ever had the chance to coach in high school football. … They’re going to love him there.”

They will likely appreciate his confidence.

Uzzi said it is “time to bring a national championship back to Tech.”

Welcome gt and our tradition of quality loses and terrific bowl appearnces such as the Humiliation Bowl. Just be aware it is often difficult to get that blue die from the Boise turf off the bottom of your shoes.

What makes W&G’s (bulldawg fan)comments funnier is that he obviously never went to UGA. Another stupid ‘neck. Spelling is fundamental!

It looks like my spooning partner on Saturdays at UGAy, yellowblood, has changed his name to White and Gold. He’s not very clever.

He’s upset he didn’t get into GT because he didn’t graduate from High School, but I let him come and visit me at Ugay because when it comes to spooning, theirs no one better…except Matthew of course.
