The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Georgia Coach Mark Richt’s son Jon became the first official signing day recruit to fax his letter of intent to Clemson. The quarterback who played at Athens’ Prince Avenue Christian sent his letter in at 7:11 a.m.
His letter was followed by that of Brookwoo kicker Dawson Zimmerman.
The other early-morning official commitments: safety Spencer Adams (Matthews, NC), running back Andre Ellington (Moncks Corner, SC), offensive lineman Dalton Freeman (Pelion, SC).
Six other players graduated early, have already enrolled at Clemson and will participate in spring practice.

Congrats to those who are now Clemson Tigers! Congrats to Coach Richt and his family as well. Its good to see the Tigers continue to get Georgia recruits. I would like to see them play Georgia on a regular basis in the future once again.

Anybody know if UGA plays Clemson over the next couple years? I mean, can you imagine how hysterical it would be designing blitz packages against your own son?

Anybody have photos? I think it would look weird to see CMR in front of a clemson banner.

Gamecock Henry: Nothing against Jon Richt but he would never get to play at UGA. That is why he went to the other second tier school in South Carolina. And I don’t want to hear one word about SC beating UGA. That was a fluke during a time when the dawgs had not yet matured. Congrats to Jon, CMR and family. That is quite an accopmlishment and I wish Jon the best!!

Dawgman: We did not recruit Richt to come in and play. Every team needs a holder. Schedule us, we’ll see who’s second tier…

Clemson and Georgia are set to play each other in a home/home but not until 2013/2014 Jon will be gone by then! As a Clemson fan and Georgia fan as well as a Georgia student I do not mind the shots at SC as a second rate school but calling Clemson second rate as well was uncalled for. They did beat SC this year. As well as 7 of the last 8

tigerfan: UGA is not scared to play Clemson, believe me. Unfortunately we have to play GT every year. I would much rather play a better quality program. Bob: My comment was not meant to downgrade Clemson at all. I was really just stating why Jon was not recruited by UGA. It was not because the “HC” cant keep his son from going out of state”. However, I must point out the last 6 years finishes in the AP polls: ‘02 UGA 3rd Clem. Out of top 25 ‘03 UGA 7th Clem. 22nd ‘04 UGA 7th Clem. Out of top 25 ‘05 UGA 10th Clem. 21st ‘06 UGA 23rd Clem. Out of top 25 ‘07 UGA 2nd Clem. 21st
I am feeling pretty good about being a DAWG. I aslo have memories of traveling to Clemson when i was a student at UGA and the treatment we got there. It was rough. I am sure some fans might say the same about coming into Sanford. You cant make all of your fans classy. No hard feelings!

Well lets see, the boy’s last name is Richt and Clemson’s coach is a Bowden, son of the head coach at FL State, the same school the Coach Richt of Georgia was the offensive coordinator for years. I do not have to be a CSI to solve this case. How connections paid for my son’s education. By the way I am a Clemson fan that bleeds orange when cut and my two favorite teams are the TIGERS and who ever is beating the Gamechickens today.
