Peachtree Ridge star sticks with Ole Miss

Brandon Sanders, a 6-foot, 200-pound cornerback, signed his letter of intent with Ole Miss during an 8 a.m. ceremony at Peachtree Ridge.

“I’ve been waiting for this moment for a while, it’s finally here, and I’m really excited and happy,” Sanders said.

When the Rebels went through a coaching change, Sanders said he was “kind of nervous for a couple weeks.” But he visited again and decided to stick with his commitment.

“I love this coaching staff,” he said. “I love coach [Houston] Nutt. … Now I’m just eager to get up to Ole Miss.”

Sanders didn’t get many passes thrown his way last season. He finished with 25 tackles, one interception and one very memorable touchdown.

In the second round of the 2007 playoffs, in a rematch of the 2006 state championship game, Sanders scooped up the ball on Roswell’s botched field goal and sprinted 85 yards for a touchdown.
