New Mexico State lands Cordova

Blessed Trinity wide receiver Joe Cordova never really had any other plan than to play football at New Mexico State.

Fortunately, it all worked out for the 6-foot-7 senior. He went to camp at New Mexico State, was offered a scholarship and quickly accepted.

But why New Mexico State?

“That’s what he wanted to happen all along,” Blessed Trinity coach Ricky Turner said. “His parents are from New Mexico, and he loves the place and wanted to go back.”

Blessed Trinity, which had had only one player land a Division I football scholarship since in the school’s first seven years of existence, will have four sign today: Tight end Ben Kopacka and kicker Garrett Jack with Air Force, and offensive linemen Harris Howard with Tulane.
