Kell QB to sign with Richmond

Kell quarterback Nick Hicks was going to follow his favorite offensive lineman, Stan Herring, to Liberty.

But Hicks had a change of heart, deciding that Liberty was not the place for him. When he made the decision in early January, Hicks didn’t really have any other choices, other than Air Force, which also didn’t seem an attractive option.

“I took a big risk in giving up the offer to Liberty,” Hicks said. “I was hoping something else would open up. I was a little concerned for a while. But fortunately everything worked out.”

Hicks is expected to sign with Richmond today, picking the Spiders over Furman. Herring remained with Liberty.
