11 Valdosta teammates sign

The uptick in the success of the Valdosta High football prgram was evident this morning, when 11 players from the school signed scholarships.

The players included:

— Running back David Arnold (Georgia Southern)

— Defensive end Chucky Alford (Alabama State)

— Linebacker Curtis Weatherspoon, fullback Marcus McNair and cornerback Kevin Stokes (Valdosta State)

— Safety Darius Roberts, quarterback Michael Turner and wide receiver Perry King (Hutchinson Community College)

— Cornerback Sidney Bivens and linebackers Kevin Johnson and Young Roberson (Dean College)

“Valdosta has a rich, rich tradition of football success so we hope we have more to come,” coach Rick Tomberlin said. “This is a group of outstanding young men, and it’s going to be difficult to replace them.”
