Tucker’s Lipscomb commits to Auburn

Tucker defensive back Neiko Lipscomb, who spent the weekend visiting Ole Miss, committed to Auburn late Sunday night.

“I have made my decision and I am going to play for the Tigers,” Lipscomb told Inside the Auburn Tigers. “I made my decision [Sunday evening] and I am excited about it.”

Scholarship availability played a role in the the 6-foot-2 cornerback’s decision. He had also shown interest in Alabama and Georgia. Neither of those programs had offered Lipscomb as of Sunday.

Wish we could have made room for you, Neiko. Really like a 6’2” corner!? Good luck on the plains, except when you play the dawgs.

Hey jayjay, for you to think Auburn is a “mediocre team” shows you know nothing about SEC football. Go back to reading the Living section and take a lesson from some of the classier Dawg fans.

Neiko, welcome to the AU family.

Richt certainly knows talent when he sees it, but sometimes things don’t work out, like with his poster child at FSU, Randy Moss. Richt’s players are doing a little better at Georgia, except for an occasional bump in the road.

These players need to sign where they feel comfortable. If that is with UGA fine, if not then that’s fine as well. I don’t get the vitriol of “see you in the whatever bowl” or “the team you’re signing with is crap” There are at least 6 SEC teams each year that are good enough to compete for the conference championship and therefore the National Championship. Everybody on these blogs talks about the “haters” but it seems to me that hate goes both ways.I have a lot of respect for most SEC teams(afterall they play in the toughest conf in the land) and want them to be successful as long as it’s not at Ga’s expense

All he had was speed. 4.40 thats awesome for an athelete position. At 175 lbs safety he is to small for Georgia. He plays athelete. He can not play corner. He”s more of a reciever. He is a 3 star I will take A. J. Green and Georgia”s current recivers over Auburns secondary. He doesn’t make it at AuBurn. UGA or Alabama he might play too is potential. I am from Tucker Georgia. They tried to play him up to the best classes in the country. On a down year you take him. This year let him go.

its good to view auburns rise to national prominance through rose colored glasses, but lets be serious.they will always be a team from the sec that went undefeated and still didnt play for the MNC.I live in auburn and the fans here know they are destined for mediocrity for at least the next couple of years.

Yeah jayjay, you started everything…in fact I have seen your negative posts before whenever something goes AUs way. I will say neither Auburn or UGA are mediocre teams. It is childish to say otherwise. UGA will start out top 5, and Auburn top 10 next season…neither of those ranks are mediocre. UGA has a lot tougher schedule, and if y’all do make NC, good job and I’ll root for y’all. I don’t see it with your schedule, but whatever. Auburn has all the tough games at home except WV, so look for us to end the season better. But good luck to both phenominal programs (except when UGA plays down here)

By Rec

Ed, your logic makes no sense. At 175 lbs with 4.4 speed, Lipscomb is large enough coming in & easily fast enough to play corner at UGA or any other school. That’s definitely not the reason, but maybe he just doesn’t (already) have the cover pr receiver skills of some of the higher rated DB’s or WR’s in Georgia’s class. Do you know what the “athlete” categorization means in recruiting?!? It means the athletic ability to play multiple positions, usually offense & defense.

How come you all do not have the article up on Dwayne Allen’s commitment to stay at Georgia yet? He had a press conference, was a pretty big deal. If he had chosen Clemson would you have it up already? Just curious, based on past history of “slanted” articles.

This is a copy of a post on the AU blogs today. It says a lot; what it doesn’t say is that AU graduates its atheletes with the elete universities in the country, also, top five the first year of record. The character of these young men is always very good; their names are only in the papers on the sports pages describing the football games in which they played. We’re proud of each of them. War Eagle!!

Auburn’s previous recruiting class rankings:

11th - 2002 ranking 16th - 2003 ranking 31st - 2004 ranking (jetgate) 22nd - 2005 ranking

These are the same kids that now have the 5th best winning percentage in the nation (42-9-0), and also the ONLY undefeated SEC season during that timeframe, despite a couple of cheap NC’s by LSU and one by Florida (who we beat that year).

wtf? are you an freaking insider to the AU SID?

one of the biggest complaints among au fans is that Tubs is too strict on his players. we have players miss half a season for minor infractions such as Tray Blackmon and his WDI. he’s the best player on our team and has missed half his career for being in Tub’s doghouse.

Richt doesn’t even have a doghouse. Odell Thurman gets pulled over in an Escalade (not his) with a case of “crunk juice” and no driver’s license and Richt makes him run stadiums. are you kidding me?

Odell has become a model citizen from all the discipline he received at thUGA.

like i said jayjay, comical to hear dawgs call other teams thugs. congrats on the Vandy game, dancing on the commodore will go down as a great day in dawg history.

I will bet JayJay is about a 125# wus that has never played a game in his life. It appears that he has been working this post all day. I thought maybe he would have been in Early County representing one of his very own model athletes that just happened to be at a place where a pregnant woman was killed. Congrats AU fans on getting a good player.

Jay Jay, I think you claimed to have graduated in 93, or at least you stopped attending school then - I graduated UGA in 1984, so I did enjoy the Dooley/Herschel era up close and personal. I attribute your bitterness and vitriol on being part of the frustrating era of post Dooley/pre-Richt UGA football. Or, you are incredibly immature for someone over 30 or otherwise had poor upbringing.

We just finished winning the Sugar Bowl and we’re loaded for next year and the years to come. We’re way,way up as a program. AU isn’t where we are at the moment, but it was only a couple of years ago they ran the table, went undefeated and still didn’t share the NC.

Jeez, you’re making me want to quote Bobby McFerrin (sp?) Don’t Worry Be Happy - or better yet I’ll quote my mom - if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all. Cheers, woof woof.

Kokomo, you kind of remind me of some Tech fans when you pretty much said that if you did not attend UGA in the classroom then you are not a true Dawg fan or, you are jumping on the band waggon.I have lived in Georgia all my life and have been a Dawg fan all my life even though I never stepped into a single uga classroom. Maybe you need to re-think some things . We non attenders pump millions of dollars into the football system through season tickets , merchandise , donations, etc. I bleed Red and Black and always will.

If Auburn is so mediocre why are they leading in the series? Especially when their talent has always been inferior to Georgias? Be glad a kid is getting a free ride at an SEC school. Dont act like children and start the name calling.
