Dogs, Tech among suitors for ECI’s Lanier
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 12/30/07
J.C. Lanier, a 6-foot-5, 320-pound junior defensive tackle for Class A champion Emanuel County Institute, has received scholarship offers from Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech and South Carolina.
ECI coach Milan Turner said his prized lineman already has a couple of frontrunners.
“Georgia and Clemson are his top two,” Turner said.
Turner thinks it’s too soon to predict which position Lanier will play in college.
“I think he can play on either side of the ball,” he said. “Some coaches like him at nose guard; others see him on the offensive line.”
Lanier and junior teammate Washaun Ealey will make ECI a recruiting hotbed over the next 13 months.
Ealey, who recently set the single season mark for touchdowns scored by a running back, is still waiting on his first offer.
“There’s a lot of schools interested, but there’s nothing in writing,” Turner said on Sunday. “But everybody that sees him play likes him.”
Turner anticipates seeing several offers arrive for Ealey in January.
“I don’t think there’s any question, he can play for anybody,” Turner said. “I think something will happen in the next three or four weeks.”
Turner confirmed that Ealey continues to express interest in Georgia.

If I was Mark Richt I would tell Mr.(I Think Im All World) Dwayne Allen that were just not interested in him anymore. He obviously dosent want to be a bulldog with his wishy washy additude. Any kid that plays the “hard to get game”, we ought to let go as soon as they start the silliness. To play for Georgia is a privilige that kids dream about and this kids heart is obviously not about being a dog so I say see ya and lets sign a kid who wants to be there from the time he was born.Sick of the games these guys play with these great programs! Good night and may both teams from Georgia win!

Jim—
Dwayne Allen is a smart kid. He’s smart enough to milk this experience for a few more trips and he’s smart enough not to let a thinly veiled post from a Tech fan sway him.
Dwayne: Welcome to our signing class! Jim: To hell with Tech!
“May both teams from Georgia win?” To Hell with that, too.

Jim-your an idiot. Shut up…and leave the kid alone. If he wants to go out and get a free trip to visit other schools and travel and go through a great exp. for a kid then so be it. You think CMR would tell him what you just posted???? You sir no matter a UGA or a TECH fan are an idiot.
Dwayne-Welcome to the Bulldog nation-We are glad to have you in our proud tradition of top notch TE’s. Good Luck

I did not read Mr Allen’s remaks the same way that Jim read them. He spoke like just about any HS senior would speak when confronted by a news reporter. If you are around kids of this age you soon learn to listen to what the message is and its intended meaning. My guess we will see him play in Athens and both he and the UGA fans will be happy.

I’ve met DeWayne Allen during his recruiting trips to Athens in both his junior and senior years and think he’s a terrific kid. Let’s give these kids a break—teen life is hard enough without “adults” scrutinizing every move and providing public critique. Let him enjoy his trips and make the best decision for himself, which I think in the end will be UGA.

NO Georgia fan would ever wish both GA teams luck. We may cheer for the other SEC schools in the bowls, or when we need some help, but NEVER, NEVER would we ever wish GaTech luck in a bowl. Please offer Ealey so we can see the Knowshon and Washaun show!!
Tech sucks!!ACC sucks!! SEC!!SEC!!SEC!!SEC!!SEC!!SEC!!SEC!!SEC!!SEC!!SEC!! GO DAWGS!! 41-10!!
