UCLA making late push for Sanders
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 12/16/07
Georgia fans must be content to wait several more weeks to determine if the Bulldogs score a commitment from Zebrie Sanders of Northmont High in Clayton, Oh.
Rated a four-star recruit by Scout.com, a commitment to Georgia by the offensive lineman would put the finishing touches on what may be arguably the nation’s finest recruiting class.
The 6-foot-6, 273-pound Sanders has maintained for weeks that he will choose between Florida and Georgia.
But Sanders, who had hoped to commit in early January, will now wait to pick a college until after an upcoming official visit to either Florida State or UCLA.
Sanders recently scheduled a visit to Tallahassee on Jan. 12.
But he may wind up traveling to Los Angeles to visit UCLA instead.
“UCLA has always been in the picture,” Sanders said Sunday afternoon. “They haven’t really called me lately because of their coaching situation.
“But they were originally one of the teams I was interested in.”

Coach Searels will be creating NFL Linemen. He did it at LSU and look what he did with true freshmen this year. If Zebrie wants the best chance to play on Sunday, he will searelesly want to have UGA at the top of his list.

Go West Young Man—if you want to. If the choice is UCLA over UGA/FLA then you really must be clueless about your abilities. Powder blue against blood red and black….duhhh!!!

Coach Richt has repeatedly said that next year’s OL will consist of three sophmores and possibly two freshmen. That means YOU big guy! Look how fast coach Searels’ young group has grown into men in his first season, and who wouldn’t want to block for guys named Moreno, King, Samuels, D-Jax, Thomas and possibly Ealey. A shot at an MNC is right there, as it was this year (unexpectedly early). It WILL happen, you can be a part of it, and you can chime in IT’S GREAT TO BE A GEORGIA BULLDOG!!!!

UCLA has a great tradition that dates back to the… 1970s. They have not been on the national stage since Richard Nixon was President and “far out” was an expression used to describe good things instead of how far away your family will be from you during your games. If you love your mother, you won’t make her stay up til 11:00 p.m. to watch your games on TV.

If you don’t want to waste the holidays with a bowl game or at the least be home before Christmas, UCLA looks like a good bet. But…if you want to play in January…
GO DAWGS!!

The OL is in the best shape since Richt took over, now if everyone can remain healthy(shoulder injuries-go away) and remain in school.
Jeff would love to see and article on the OL, detailing the progress of the guys who did not play or who played sparingly this year, specifically Perez, Tripp, Little, Anderson,Vance and also the guys who started.
Thanks,

With Calloway gone, I haven’t heard word one about shoulder injuries. Searles is the real MVP this year.

Georgia has a proud football tradition, so Dawg fans really don’t need to rip on UCLA. UCLA had some pretty good teams in the 90’s, including an offensive lineman by the name of Jonathan Ogden. Sanders is probably waiting to see if UCLA hires Norm Chow, an offensive guru and former offensive lineman himself.
Before Dawg fans get too carried away with anti-West bashing, might want to beat Hawaii first…If Hawaii was in the Pac-10, they probably could have won the PAC-10 this year, and the SEC West champs got blasted this year when they went out west to play what turned out to be a crappy Pac-10 team…

Tofu,
What “SEC West champs” are you talking about? Tennessee (of the SEC East) got beat by Cal, Arkansas (‘06 West champs) didn’t play anybody from the Pac-10 this year and neither did LSU (‘07 West champs).
Hawaii would have gone about 6-3 in the Pac-10. USC, ASU and Oregon would have beaten them easily. When Louisiana Tech takes you to three overtimes, you’re not going to win a BCS conference.
C’mon, Sanders, Athens is worlds better than Los Angeles…and the girls are much easier on the eyes.

Hey Zebrie — Come to UGA and break the Gators hearts like Knowshon did (when he signed with US over THEM)…then you can come block for Knowshon as he extends his winning streak versus the ‘turds…Peace & Love, Dr. Sobedawg

Mr. Sanders,
Let me just tell you that the Gator nation would love to have you win another NC with them. There is no question they will be in the hunt next week. The offence is going to be even better than this year and the D is going to surprise a lot of people. Orange & Blue looks better as well.

We’d be honored to have you join the Georgia Bulldog Family Zebrie! Stacy Searels truly is one of the finest OL coaches in the Nation and I honestly don’t think you will find a more honorable leader to play for than Coach Mark Richt!

The Bulldogs would welcome you with open arms my man! But if you are really considering any conference other than the SEC, you are doing yourself a disservice. UGA puts players in the pros ,thats the bottom line. If you think you’re good enough come on down and see.
