Glenn to attend UGA-Kentucky game; Uzzi visits Athens
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Latest news
Riverdale’s Cordy Glenn continues to focus on scholarship offers from Alabama and Georgia.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive lineman plans to be in Athens on Saturday.
“I’m going to the Georgia-Kentucky game,” Glenn said. “I’m going to enjoy the game, but I want to get there early enough to do the dawg walk.”
Glenn is fully aware that some recruiting analysts believe Georgia’s current group of commitments is the second-best in the nation.
“Georgia has got a great recruiting class,” he said. “The coaches are doing a good job.
“I know some of the players they’re recruiting. We don’t exchange phone numbers or anything, but I’ve seen [Griffin defensive end and Georgia-bound] Toby Jackson at games.”
Uzzi gaining interest in Georgia
Omoregie Uzzi, considered the 27th-best guard in the nation by Scout.com, was in attendance on Saturday when Georgia trounced Auburn at Sanford Stadium.
“I liked it a lot,” said Uzzi, who is showing strong interest in Alabama, Auburn, Central Florida, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Virginia. “I really enjoyed the visit.”
Uzzi said Georgia Tech remains a solid contender for his commitment.
“I still like Tech a lot,” he said.
The 6-foot-3, 293-pound Uzzi will be a guest of Georgia Tech when the Jackets host in-state rival Georgia on Nov. 24.
Anderson examining four offers
Habersham Central cornerback Josh Anderson figures he’s still several weeks away from crossing schools off his recruiting list.
“I’m not any closer today than I was [in October],” Anderson said. “Princeton, Penn, Furman and Western Kentucky are the main ones recruiting me pretty hard.
“I’m supposed to be making a visit to Penn in mid-December.”
Salem’s Davis remains sold on Mississippi State
Salem quarterback Terrance Davis said his commitment to Mississippi State remains firm, despite recent contact from defending national champion Florida.
“I’m still solid with Mississippi State,” Davis said Wednesday evening. “They’re not going to sign another quarterback in this recruiting class.”
Davis still hopes to take an official visit to Florida next month.
“Florida hasn’t offered me, but they call me every week,” he said. “They’re talking about getting me down there for an official visit in December. They just haven’t given me an exact date yet.”
The 6-foot, 180-pounder will still take at least one visit to Mississippi State prior to national signing day in February.
“I have my official visit to Mississippi State scheduled for January,” he said. “And I’m hoping we’re still in the playoffs next week, but I really want to go to the Ole Miss game.”

You win games at the line. Would love to have some depth there and am glad we are gaining ground with some key guys. Go Dawgs! Oh, and Spurrier is an idiot and Herschel would take him in 1.2 seconds.

Uzzi and Glenn -
If you are reading, UGA is the placeto be. Obviously comming on strong, great recruiting class, great shape everywhere except across the line: You two will get time early and be a part of a consistent winner, and SEC and National champion contenders for the next 4 years.
We Need you both!!!!! GO DAWGS

Uzzi/Glenn-
Come on down guys… The atmosphere at Georgia is second to none gentlemen, adrenaline rushes every game w/ 92,000 plus in attendance; not to mention the consistent output into the NFL. Also, with the young line that we have now, it means immediate playing time. GO DAWGS!!!

Hopefully Ga lands these two guys to anchor the O line in the future and add depth. I hope they are looking at gettiing another 5 star QB to come here so Stafford can help him develop and when Stafford is gone this kid can step right in.

So Uzzi was @ the UGA-Auburn game and had a good time. Wait until he comes to the UGA-GT game as a guest of GT and sees the Dawgs humiliate the Joke by the Coke in their own house. We’ll be go to the top of his list of favorite schools.

Glenn and Uzzi - You would love UGA. The team has great Tickle Piles to celebrate our victories after the games. You guys would be great on the ‘bottom’ of them. When we have our blackout and redout games, Richt selects certain fans to join us! They are usually the crusty old men that donate tons of money and bark like dogs.

I hope that Patrick Johnson is still considering UGA after witnessing the Auburn blowout. We really could use a top notch DB. He is currently committed to Miami and they are going nowhere.

I’m originally from Griffin and it’s good to see that Toby Jackson is committed. We’ve had success with our UGA signees (Freddie Gilbert, Johnathan Sullivan) but they seem to be few and far between. Even our long ago coach’s son, Brian Bohannon, was steady though no standout. Griffin still has some hosses, and it would be good to see those guys in Red and Black.

ringgolddawg, Don’t count on Patrick Johnson. He’s going around to all schools he visits and handing out glowing remarks like candy. He’s got LSU and USC thinking they are ahead of Miami. In fact, he’s taking a second visit to USC when they play Cal. do you know what he does when he gets back from these visits? He’s been telling Miami fans that he just tells the teams and local media what they want to hear so they can, and I quote, “leave me alone”. His dad played for Miami and he regularly reads the Miami message boards to keep up with what’s being said by the fans about his son. I think the kid is just enjoying his trips and seeing the country. He said he doesn’t care about the losingat Miami. He thinks he can come in and make a name for himself. Getting johnson would be huge for any school. The odds that Johnson goes anywhere except Miami, is a longshot.

Love our class so far. We do need more big linemen. Getting 5 or 6 for the next 2 years would be awesome. Ringgold- I agree about Johnson. I was reading that he really enjoyed the AU game, but who wouldn’t have, and his commitment is a “soft Verbal”. We have several of those as well, but nothing is forsure until 2/4. Thats why we have to stay after the guys we want. GO DAWGS!

The lineman the UGA needs is four star OT Zebrie Sanders out of Clayton Ohio. He was also at the UGA-Auburn game and has narrowed his list to Florida and Georgia. He says his visit to Georgia was the best so far.

Don’t know why this news isn’t on the AJC recruiting page, but here’s and excerpt from the Augusta paper on A.J. Harmon’s visit during the Blackout:
*The blackout in Athens, Ga., was only supposed to eclipse Auburn. It may have gotten Clemson, too.
That may be the case when it comes to Jefferson County senior A.J. Harmon . The 6-foot-5, 325-pound lineman has verbally committed to Clemson. But the Dream 16 standout had a change of heart on Tuesday. “My mind and heart is really centering on Georgia,” he said. “I’d say I’m 65 percent sure I’m going to Georgia. I’m going to go to Clemson this Saturday for the Boston College game. Clemson better pull out all the stops. Because all I saw on Saturday with that blackout may have changed my mind.” It’s a stark reversal for a giant of a youth whose cell phone has a bright orange faceplate, not to mention Harmon bought a $35 Clemson belt buckle earlier this year. “I was 90 percent sold on Clemson before Saturday,” he said. “You could say 100 percent Clemson. But I saw a lot of stuff in Athens I wanted to be a part of.” Harmon will visit with his family and an inner circle of school administrators and coaches whom he trusts on Sunday. He plans to call both teams on Sunday with his final decision. He will let his chosen school know so they can hold a scholarship. He’d let his second-place school know so they can find another defensive lineman. “What I saw Saturday was me,” Harmon said. “Georgia played with emotion and let it all out. That’s me. That’s the player I am. A place that’s hype like that is a place for me to go play ball.”*

A lot of bloggers are talking about SEC East scenarios. Some have suggested the best thing for Georgia is to win the next two games and have UT win out, so they can play LSU in the SEC Championship game. The theory is that LSU will roll over the Vols an open the door for Georgia to get a BSC bowl game.
The problem with this theory is discounted UT. The Vols are easily the second hottest team in the SEC and would have more than a legitimate shot at bumping off LSU. No, I don’t want any back door invitations to BCS bowl games. I want Georgia to win out, the Vols to lose to either Vandy or Kentucky and the Dawgs play LSU for the SEC Championship.

Where do you think these remaing recruits that UGA is interested in will land? Here are my thoughts:
AJ Harmon - OT/DL - committed to Clemson - now leaning towards UGA. odds 55/45 UGA
Zebrie Sanders - OT - between UF/UGA - seems to talk more glowingly about UF - how he pictures himself in their offense. UGA still in the hunt odds 55/45 Gators
Cordy Glenn - OT - Bama and UGA in a battle royal odds 50/50 to UGA
O.Uzzi - OG - smart kid - keeping options open - best friend and High School teammate signed with GT last year. **odds 80/20 to GT
Patrick Johnson - CB - Miami verbal - having fun visiting - but a Huricane at heart. odds 99/01 to Miami
Neiko Libscomb - DB - fantastic athlete - likes UGA and Bama - seems focussed on Bama. odds 80/20 Roll Tide
Josh Jarboe - WR - excellent prospect - likes the local schools but has enjoyed the attention from LSU. odds 70/30 LSU
Any of these kids would be a great addition to UGA. This is my gut feeling after following this stuff for the last few months…however, who knows what happens when it comes to decision time.
Let’s hope we can land the O-Line recruits - the rest would be icing on the cake…very sweet icing indeed!

Kids that commit to one school and then switch to another are not worth their weight in spit. They are either too stupid and commit too early, or they are spineless and switch too easily.
Consider QB Carter. He first committed to GA Tech then went to UGA. His lack of character showed very well (along with his lack of talent) on into the pros.

Yeah, guys that commit one place and then go to another are really worthless…Of course, Fred Gibson was first-team all-SEC in 2004. Joe Cox should be kicked off the team for committing to Duke first. And don’t forget about players who transfer. I can’t believe the Patriots wasted their first round pick a couple of years ago on Ben Watson, who spent his first year at Duke. And Tashard Choice isn’t worth having for Tech, either.

Why is it that UGA always has a top 5 recuiting class but never a top 5 team? Well, not since 1982 before anybody on the present team was born. I guess Steve was right when he said, “What happens to the #1 recruits when they get to UGA?” “Do they just dissapear? Also, maybe the true character of their “Blue Chip” athletes come out. How about all those arrest they have had over the last couple of years. Oh yeah, lets sweep that under the carpet! It is funny how UGA fans are so high and mighty when they have 2 loses already this year and both of them to teams that have 3 loses already. Steve (USC) and Phil (Tenn)!! And Phil not Mark will play in the Conference Championship game in the ATL!! Keep Barking Dawgs about how great you are!!

No. 1 Football Fool:
That was really rigorous analysis! Wow! Try this – go back to the beginning of Richt’s tenure. Determine a consensus of where UGA’s recruiting classes ranked for each year of Richt’s tenure to date. Do this for all the top ten recruiting classes during the same period. Then compare records, rankings, conference divisions and championships of those schools for each recruiting class.
Or, you could just continue to post stupid, adolescent stuff. Oh, and what is your school? How do their recruiting and results stack up?

Seven years in a row in the top 25 (and counting). So, which is your school and we will map their finishes in the polls, too. Only USC can surpass that.

Even if UGA does not get the linemen to commit this year, there are a number of really top ones that were red-shirted that will be in the picture very soon. Next year it will be critical to sign more, but this year, we are more than okay. Besides this recruiting class is simply amazing and there are still a couple more who will make it even moreso.
The following are top O-Line recruits who were red-shirted and will be heard from - Chris Little * 6-5, 340; Justin Anderson * 6-5, 320; Tanner Strickland * 6-4, 315; Kiante Tripp * 6-5, 275; Kevin Perez ** 6-4, 275.
So, this is why we are not getting a lot of O-Line commits this year. Believe me, we are a-okay here. Enjoy, These are the glory days of UGA football!

Hey DawgStyle/DawgPile/Yellowblood you are obviously just more JEALOUS Tech Nerds (wait all Tech nerds are jealous of UGA)! We love how you are all such losers!
I guess I can understand when UGA has made you our b!t@hes the last 50+ years!
I guess the way Tech sells recruits on coming to Tech is by showing them all of the good looking women on…oh, no wait that isn’t the case it is all nerdy guys…so if the recruits are into that kind of stuff then Tech is a perfect fit…maybe they show them how Grant Field is always sold…no that isn’t true, can’t even sell all of the tickets by splitting them down to 3 game packs on the AJC…maybe they will come there for the winning tradi…no that is a huge joke…
Well, I am sure there is something that Tech has…oh, no that isn’t true Tech just stinks.
Oh well, keep them coming to UGA, and Tech can have all of the leftovers!

Purple and orange are ugly colors. Everyone wants to wear red and black. A.J. Harmon should come to Athens and be a Soulja Boy for Mark Richt. Bet they don’t play “Crank That” at Clempson.

Still nothing on this story from AJC?
Big profile on Harmon in today’s Augusta paper:
A.J. Harmon prefers Soulja Boy over Jimmy Buffett. But even he can take heart in the words of a Parrothead classic.
1 / 2 Morris News Service Jefferson County senior A.J. Harmon has a tough decision to make. He has to decide between going to play for Clemson or for Georgia. Click photo for options
Come Monday, it’ll be all right.
“That’s when all the big stuff should be over,” he said. “My head is swirling. A lot of stuff about my football team trying to win its first playoff game Friday. And then I’ve got three days to figure out where I will go play football.”
Jefferson County will play host to Early County in the first round of the Georgia High School Association Class AA playoffs tonight. Harmon will go to Clemson on Saturday. Then he’ll lean on a circle of advisors to decide whether or not he’s going to wear orange and purple or red and black.
The decision is as huge as his 6-foot-6, 320-pound frame.
“It’s the biggest decision he will ever make in his life for sure,” said Shirley Harmon, his mother.
The Bulldogs went from second to first after a visit to Athens for the blackout win against Auburn. First love Clemson gets a last chance to sway his mind.
A.J. Harmon said the Clemson-or-Georgia decision takes up at least 10 minutes of every hour of his life right now.
“What a decision,” said James Harmon, his father. “Two great schools and teams. I don’t think anyone in his family has ever had to make a decision like that.”
His parents are part of a group whose counsel he will lean on to decide his future. That group includes coach J.B. Arnold, girlfriend Danielle Broadus and Jefferson County principal Dr. Molly Howard.
“I’ve come home too many times to see my mom and my dad dead tired,” he said. “I’ve got big goals. I want to take care of them when I go pro. I want to buy them both a big house. I don’t want them to have to go to work again.”
He is rated by every online recruiting site among the Top 75 players in America. Rivals.com rates him as the nation’s top offensive guard even though he’d never played or practiced that position until this month.
Clemson and Georgia treasure his services so much that they will allow him to play the defensive tackle spot he prefers instead.
Big goals
Most will cringe to learn of Harmon’s pro plans. They would advise he needs to have a back-up plan in case football doesn’t work out.
“I know that,” he said. “But I can’t see me doing anything but football. I don’t see driving a truck. I don’t see myself in business. All I see is football.”
Those that know him best are not so quick to judge.
“That’s a huge dream,” Arnold said. “But it’s a good thing. Instead of living day-to-day like so many ignorant or poverty-stricken people, he has set a goal and works his tail off every day in practice and the weight room to try to reach it. I think that’s great. I really do.”
Harmon had to repeat the second grade. He has been diagnosed with a learning disability. He recently got the 830 on his SAT to open the door to a college education with a grade point average that hovers around the 2.5 range.
“Repeating second grade was embarrassing,” Harmon said. “I’m okay to say it. But it taught me the importance of the classroom. I won’t say I had it all figured out then, but I’ve known how important grades are ever since.”
Football has also been an outlet for a young man to channel his frustration for having to bear down each day at school.
“One thing people don’t understand about me is I like to jump up and down and work myself up,” Harmon said. “People think I’m crazy. But I use my imagination to pump myself up. People might think I’m trying to act up for attention, but all I am doing is stoking up a fire in me as fuel that I use to play the very best I can. I play better when I let my emotions out.”
Some lean on athletic gifts to provide a future in a sport they don’t love. Not Harmon.
“That kid lives football and breathes it with every ounce of his body,” Arnold said. “Lots of people play it. Not many love it the way that A.J. does. I’d say very few.
Arnold said he was physically ready to play big-time college football after his sophomore year.
Drawbacks
Being one of the top prep lineman in the Southeast isn’t all it is cracked up to be.
Shirley Harmon works as a transfer sergeant at Washington State Prison in Davisboro. She said she can’t go a day without someone asking her about it.
“If I had a dollar for every time I’ve been asked where he’s going, I could already retire,” she said.
Harmon estimates she’s received at least 1,000 pieces of recruiting mail for her son.
“He gets at least 10 letters a day,” she said.
The Harmon phone rings off the hook at night with college coaches selling their school.
“I can’t talk on the home phone without having it click over with an incoming call,” she said.
Harmon’s face has been downloaded more times than anyone can count. It has led to a budding celebrity. One things that makes James Harmon proud is how his son handles all that attention.
“No matter where I go, all I hear about is his manners and how well he treats people,” James Harmon said. “If I come to the school, all the teachers and kids and janitors will tell me how much respect he has for people. That means a lot.”
But there are a lot of times people call his name, and he has no idea who the voices belong to.
“You walk past people that know you but you don’t know them,” Harmon said. “They say ‘Hey A.J.’ then they are like ‘Why can’t you speak? Do you have the big head now.’ It gets to me. I try to never treat a person different than anyone else. I don’t like that.”
But the bottom line covers it.
“You have to say it is all worth it,” Shirley Harmon said. “That’s a college education that comes along with all this attention.”
Ready to order
Harmon plays both sides like a political vet. He wore red Georgia shorts at practice Tuesday. Those shorts were worn over the top of another pair on extended loan from Georgia senior center Fernando Velasco. Velasco graduated from Jefferson County in 2003.
But underneath those shorts were another pair of orange Clemson shorts with “A.J. 75” written on the white school logo.
It’s what a few of the assistants on the Jefferson County team refer to as sending “mixed signals.”
He has gone to Georgia games this fall in Bulldogs’ gear, but with a Clemson belt buckle underneath an untucked white Georgia T-shirt.
Harmon’s got no problem with commitment. His four-year relationship to Broadus says that.
Truth be told, he’s got it made with either. He was happy with the prettiest girl in town in Clemson. But then he couldn’t help looking at the prettiest in the next town.
“I’m looking at it as the choice between two beautiful girls,” Harmon said. “I’m going to choose the one that can cook the best and treat me the best.”
Velasco played host to Harmon in Athens on Saturday. It was interesting what was for dinner.
“I love rice and chicken and hot sauce,” Harmon said. “Let’s just say after the game Fernando had some rice and chicken and hot sauce waiting on me. Georgia is tasting pretty good to me right now. Let’s say it like that.”

Offensive line recruits: Look at what Coach Searels has done with a young offensive line this year. Imagine what he will do with a bunch of talented recruits! If you want to be part of something special, with a truly class man as head coach, then I’d urge you to strongly consider UGA. You will not regret it.
