Miles commits to South Carolina; Allen still bound for Georgia

Brookwood running back Kenny Miles wasted little time accepting a scholarship offer from South Carolina.
The Gamecocks extended the offer to the 5-foot-10, 200-pound back on Saturday. Miles said yes before heading back to Snellville.
“He was on a visit and they offered him while he was there,” Brookwood coach Mark Crews confirmed. “He already had offers from schools like Central Florida and Memphis.”
Miles rushed for 2,178 yards and scored 27 touchdowns during the regular season for the Broncos.
“He’s got a great attitude and work ethic,” Crews said. “And he’s an awfully strong kid.”
Allen reaffirms plans to sign with Georgia
Dwayne Allen, a tight end for Terry Sanford High in Fayetteville, NC, attended Georgia’s victory over Auburn on Saturday and came away impressed with his 48-hour stay in Athens.
“It was a wonderful visit,” said Allen, who returned home from Athens on Monday morning. “I really felt at home.
“The game was great. And the blackout certainly helped the atmosphere.”
Allen, who is being recruited as a tight end, attempted to squelch rumors that he might be reconsidering the commitment he made to the Dogs in February.
“I’m with Georgia,” Allen said Monday evening.
Allen plans to be in Blacksburg, Va. on Saturday when Virginia Tech hosts Miami.
Jackson commits to N.C. State
Colby Jackson, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound fullback for Trinity Christian in Dublin, intends to play college football for N.C. State.
He will become the first player from the GISA Class AA program in central Georgia to play for a Division I program in nearly a decade.
“As far as tailbacks go, he’s a very tough runner with incredible vision,” Trinity’s athletic coordinator Chuck Carson said. “Sometimes, he’ll try to outrun you. Other times, he’ll look for you to make contact.”
Jackson has rushed for 2,356 yards and 38 touchdowns this season.
Trinity hosts Brentwood School in the first round of the GISA playoffs on Friday.

That’s good for UGA that Allen reconfirmed his commitment, but looking at their current committed list, UGA needs at least 2 OT and quite possibly another DT to complete their class.
If they’re able to get their hands on 2 more OL (Sanders, Painter, Glenn, Harmon or Uzzie), DT (maybe Boyd from FL, too late on Thompson he’s not thinking UGA) and perhaps steal the kid Patrick Johnson from Miami, this will be the best class UGA’s had in a long time.

Do we have any chance at getting Matt Patchan? He is less than happy with his visit to Miami this past weekend. http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=50833

I’m with you, mcdawg. I’ve never been one to follow recruiting on a daily basis and I don’t subscribe to any of the pay sites. Therefore, I don’t know who is left that UGA still has a realistic shot at signing. Anyway, with the few scholarships still available, I hope we can find some behemoths that will help make first team All Americans out of Stafford, Moreno, A.J. Green, et al.

We do need more OL but the ones that are here now are the ones that will make 1st teamer’s out of those currently here, if it is to be.

JB, good point. I guess I could have said A.J. Green, Logan Gray, Caleb King and Dontavius Jackson but, even with a redshirt year, the careers of the next signing class will overlap with some of the current skill position players, at least the ones that stay for all 4 years of their eligibility. This year’s OL is good and getting better but we need more depth if we expect to make it to The Promised Land.

Blah, blah, blah.
UGA deserves all the best recruits; no other program should get any.
If the player decides to play somewhere other than for UGA, they were actually horrible players/people and UGA really didn’t want them in the first place.
If UGA signs them and they don’t live up to your expectations, you rip them a new one and act like they let you down personally.
Blah, blah, blah.

Hey sicko, like everyone else, we can only sign 25/year and we want the best 25 that we can get. Don’t you want the same for your team? I suspect that you are a Tech fan who can’t understand why a few 3 star recruits is the best that you can do and a good many of those are busts. If one of ours does not pan out like we hoped, shame on us, not the kid.

puppydawg, I have no bone to pick with you…You are an aberration.
Most “dawg” fans think UGA deserves every player and then insults those who choose to play elsewhere. They are even harder on those who choose to play for UGA and then don’t play up to their unrealistic expectations (ala Brandon Miller).
Most of us have grown weary of these idiots who have never attended the University of Georgia and act like it is their personal Alma Mater. You know the type. They drive around town in their pick up trucks with the decals and flags waving in the windows barking at everything. Most have never set foot on campus, much less attended a class there.
Most of us don’t mind questions and answers, even debates, but usually, insults, name calling, and worse gets started on these blogs, usually initiated by UGA fans, and frankly, most of us are getting sick of it.
Bofore one of you losers makes the comment, let me beat you to the punch.
This is NOT a UGA blog but a RECRUITING blog.

Oh sick one, I’m not sure that being called an aberration was a compliment, but thanks anyway??? And you are absolutely correct. This IS a recruiting blog and that is exactly what was being discussed until you chose to come onboard and spew your vitriol all over the place. You throw words like “idiots” and “losers” around while, at the same time, accusing others of “insults” and “name calling”. How utterly hypocritical! What gives you the right to be the designated insulter and name caller? You reap what you sow, my friend. It’s called karma. Because you yourself display the kind of behavior that you claim to hate, one could infer that you hate yourself. Perhaps you should seek help while there is still time. And another thing: All Dawg fans are welcome in the BullDawg Nation whether they matriculated at UGA or not. I did not attend UGA but I’ve been a Dawg ever since I was big enough to step on a yellow jacket. I am proud of the degree that I received from Georgia State University and equally proud to display UGA decals on all of my vehicles, including my shiny red pickup truck. Finally, I would say something like “UGA 49 - GT 13” but, as you pointed out, this is a recruiting blog.

puppydawg, I was trying to be nice and not throw you out with the rest of the garbage and here you go proving my point for me.
Another person who never attended the University of Georgia who supports their athletic program (instead of his own in this case)with decals and flags and throwing out personal insults towards me after I compliment you.
And you wonder why most of us on these blogs are sick and tired of arrogant UGA fans?
You know, most of us are proud of UGA, as well as the other Universities in the State, and it amazes me that grown men can act like children when it comes to college sporting events and recruiting, especially when most of these bloggers never even attended the University they are so vehemently shouting about.
Why can’t everyone just be happy that these kids are getting a chance to get a college degree at a great University so that they can be productive citizens when the graduate? Why can’t everyone be happy that these kids are representing their families when they are able to earn an athletic scholarship and make it to the next level? Many of these kids may have not been able to attend college (financially) any other way.
And to mr. nice, to you I will say that the UGA/GA Tech series has been quite competitive in the past, and could be again in the future. Heck, with an attitude like yours, why would the University of Florida want to play Georgia? UGA hasn’t been much competition for them recently, have they? The same could be said for Steve Spurrier coached teams. Not much competition from Georgia in the past.
I guess the University of Central Florida won’t schedule Georgia either. I think George O’Leary is 3 and 0 against UGA over his past three games as well. No competition if we think like you. Are you getting my drift???

Guys, I must apologize for my posts. For sometime now I have been going through counseling for by mental condition. You see the problem I have is that I like to parade around as a Georgia fan who is not happy with the program. In an effort to make myself feel better I like to use big fancy words and from time to time I like to say that I was once a D-1 football player who lettered with some big time college program. I have to be honest guys….the only time I have ever stepped foot on a football field was when I was the flag boy for Georgia Tech. Those were my glory days. I am really sorry if I have offended anyone in the past. And if challenged or for that matter proven wrong sometimes I will say I could meet you somewhere with my other “former” football playing friends. My hope is to scare people. I actually could meet up but it would be with the brothers of the klingon clan. Its a small group of my friends who get together and role-play star trek.
I just wanted to be honest with my blogging peers. I just wished some of these five star players who are committing to UGA would commit to my school. I am jealous. My next course of action is to bring up how difficult it is to get into my school. Even though half of my football team does not major in anything other then business management.
So please forgive me…….my next post will contain a bunch of usless garbage that I always spew on this blog when the topic of the conversation is recruiting. Please continue…

I think Carolina getting Kenny Miles is great, they need more great backs. I much as I love the “Cocks”, They really need big & fast O Linemen. So backs like Kenny can run. This recruiting class is far from being in the top 10 but do have quality position players coming in. They do have to many quarterbacks and not good ones either! GO COCKS

Borodawg, your very close to making me have to throw out that I was a an athlete at a descent school and lettered in “football” and calling you out.
I like to point out that a UGA player got arrested because that gets more coverage in the ATLANTA journal then anything that comes out of my school that happens to located in Atlanta. But even though you guys destroyed your SEC rival in Florida and made Auburn your stepping stone into the top ten. We beat Duke and Notre Dame in the same year we will go bowling.
Don, when you speak about the gamecocks do you speak with a lisp?
More crap will follow out of my mouth…sorry bloggers.
